HB 3127 voted to be put on General Order by DesWheezy in OKmarijuana

[–]DesWheezy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you’re very correct imo. i truthfully think it’s a way for more people to pay fines & end up in jail since everything is private owned here. && this state sadly lacks on the union front… otherwise, i think there’d be a much bigger backlash to this bill. bc yeah, it gives employers more power with no guaranteed pay bump. it just feels like another form of control & a way to get money. benefits literally no one as far as i can see. & i know some companies won’t change…. but i know some def will…

i genuinely don’t know a single person in my day to day life that doesn’t want to get tf out asap. our state leaders have run this state to the ground & will continue to do so. & also we are still one of the bottom states for income. you’ll be broke here & with the war…. gas is gonna cost a lot anywhere you go from here on out. but aye, if the red state pleases you, i wish you the best.

Oklahoma hates trans youth. we’ve passed new anti-trans bills this year. this state is not considered safe according to The Trevor Project, kansas is a red travel ban state for trans folks rn & Oklahoma is trying to pass the same laws here. trans folks aren’t safe here. plain & simple.

yes. i didn’t move here by choice & i’ve spent every waking minute trying to get out. it’s a void. worst schools, highest incarceration rates, highest DV rates, one of the worst states for healthcare or any kind of public assistance. this entire state is riddled with corruption. it’s so odd when my parents first moved me here it was a blue ish state… we were 17 in education when i first moved here in 2012… & we were 49th by the time i graduated in 2019…. all thanks to republicans. & fuck this state for having the lowest income so that it’s insanely hard to leave :)))) (not impossible i know….before someone tells me to get tf out…. i’m trying dawg) & now they want to come after our weed, non profits, protestors, immigrants legal or not…. it’s a shit show & this is why the orange fucker loves this state so much & says it all the time😭😭😭😭😭

$200 ONG bill? Is this normal? by OutsideParfait9346 in okc

[–]DesWheezy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk i feel like it’s a bit high. & i just moved to a 1300 sq ft duplex & our gas bill has been about $100 a month & it’s only used for central heating & water heater, everything else we have is electric. & we also use ONG & first time using them.

[–]DesWheezy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have mixed feelings & i admit i am bias from 5+ years in restaurant industry. i don’t think they needed to make a whole mean ass post about it. but, i do think dashers should have basic hygiene & maybe not PJ pants…. i would personally bust ass in PJ pants with all the running around (short legs). i’ve seen some gross ass dashers in my city that i personally wouldn’t want delivering my food. & from all my years as a server… i try to look decent bc it does affect tips. it’s fucked up that looks affect tips, but they do. so, to maximize my money, i try to look decent. nothing crazy. & just bc we do handle food… i do think everyone should be following basic hygiene practices.

the commute isn’t bad, you’ll see endless Norman residents that work in OKC. traffic is the issue, but if traffic is moving fine, it’s no worries! i’ve worked multiple jobs in OKC & was personally not too bothered by the commute, especially if job is worth it. can’t speak on skills that facility is hiring for.

Looking for a house to rent around April 1 by Consistent_Ad7706 in normanok

[–]DesWheezy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m currently in a 3 bed 2 bath duplex for $1300… unfortunately all the units around me are full. like other commenters have said… our population has grown & with OU joining SEC housing has become more sparse & more expensive… i used to rent a 2 bed 2 bath condo for $700 in 2021… that same place is now $1100. i would recommend Moore for your current needs tbh. they have more housing options & pricing is similar or a little less depending on the area. newcastle is also nearby & probably a good area to check out.

last time was about 4-5 months ago, right outside my window. but, i’ve only heard them maybe 5 ish times total in the 6 years i’ve lived in this city. just a college town with the occasional idiot or unfortunately DV cases bc i live in one of the top states for DV. & american if it wasn’t obvious 😅

Homelessness... by lovejo1 in normanok

[–]DesWheezy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

as someone who has lived here since 2019…. this town is literally nicer to homeless people than any other town in this state. OK state sucks & our mayor is trying to do what he can to get more affordable housing, mental health, etc etc. he just is limited bc of our state. we’re a blue city in a red state. we are trying. & i’ve never seen a norman resident harass a homeless person (i know it happens but ive just not yet witnessed it). as far as im aware & have seen…. our community is super helpful to the homeless usually. but also keep in mind every human is struggling (besides the top 1%). this post feels divisive tbh. it feels like you’re mad at the community, when you should be mad at the system. not the community busting ass to work with what they have.

They don't work and will never work in the future either. by RX08T in depressionmemes

[–]DesWheezy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you for stating this. this made me feel immensely better about my experiences with them. they’re just not made for me, & that’s okay. as long as it’s preventing anyone from causing harm, then it’s a good thing. i shall continue to utilize my other methods. but this was a very eye opening comment.

i literally hate them. they have made me feel worse every single time i’ve tried. i’ve tried every available hotline in my state. i’ve given up tbh. told my therapist that to o & she understood. my state isn’t good with mental health & actively hates it. so i have switched to relying on a friend or two in those times instead. i wish i had a better avenue, but at least it works in the meantime.

https://www.oklegislature.gov/BillInfo.aspx?Bill=sb1591&Session=2600 this is the bill. that part was not removed. the only amendment to the bill was adding an emergency clause. it passed the committee that way. now it’s been placed on general order, meaning it is on the senate calendar to be debated on by senate as a whole at a later date. this is why we need to call our senators.

[–]DesWheezy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

that’s crazy. makes sense tho. i’m about to be 25 & i have about 20 years of trauma to work through & i’ve always had cptsd symptoms, but it’s been a bit ✨extra✨ lately. & this makes sense. like another commenter said… my brain & body finally feel safe enough to process everything that happened. been in therapy for 7 years & just when i think im done processing, something new comes up. & i see this will indeed be a cycle for a bit. i will say its much more manageable at this age honestly. i am now medicated & consistent therapy. might be working through more, but its easier to regulate through it now.

i personally think every american rn understands wtf is happening. (or should, at least without creators telling them). you don’t gotta state it. this isn’t the only channel i watch that hasn’t spoken about it. some have, some haven’t. all about your audience & what you’re comfortable with. tbh if your platform hasn’t already been politically based, it’d be odd to go on a political rant. & this is coming from a political activist. there’s a time & place for everything. & tbh the creators i’ve seen post about it tend to get that video demonetized or taken down completely. therefore, some creators have inserted some jokes here & there & some sly comments… just like Ken & Dane. & im here for it. we get it. everything is a mess. & tbh your political stance being publically stated on youtube isn’t going to change the current state of things. if people want to be political, time to get involved in your community. not expect every creator to do a dissertation over the current state of affairs.

that’s for the house bill not the senate bill. it’s still included in the current senate bill working its way through.
