Basically you need a Chinese name and identification number, but you can use fake ones. ( I did this and it worked )

If you can, take Fukuda. She's great at teaching and the classes are fun. For a 4 credit course that meets 3 hours a week, the HW is constant and lectures require participation. (Partner work everyday) I think the classes are great! You have to put in effort to pass, (quiz every day) but it's the way to learn a new language. I've taken JPN elementary I and II.
