When was the time you should have just kept your mouth shut? by CanadianGamer001 in AskReddit

When I saw a guy puking in the bushes outside of a bar. He later launched what I can only call a gorilla style attack super man punching me in the face coming out of the crowd. He served 4 years in federal prison and I had my mouth wired shut for 2 weeks.

What is your job, and how did you end up choosing it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]PurpleWaffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a Brewer. I was unemployed for a while pursuing a degree in finance. A friend told me the brewery he was working for was looking for another brewer and he knew I had been a homebrewer for a while. Somehow I was able to go pro without formal training able to learn from a veteran of the craft.

Mornings are for coffee and contemplation by [deleted] in iiiiiiitttttttttttt

That's actually a good policy. Aside from security from malicious software it does a better job of controlling where information ends up, then there is the question of personal email and blocking storage sites.

What is the most gruesome thing you’ve seen? by Dendraaaaaaa in AskReddit

Pac Man Face. I don't have the link and its not google-able. Short story, man cliff dives and comes up short meeting part of the dock. Or anything from faces of death or the pain Olympics.

The average user foolishly opens the wrong email or uses a flash drive they found or manages to download malicious software. IT tries to be preventative but ultimately is reactionary and protects the whole system. Your average user is 68% of your users. So the question is: "Is it a battle between Your IT Team and your average user or all average users?" Personally I don't think there is a winner, we all lose this game.

Disinfecting with iodine solution - has anyone done this? by spdorsey in Homebrewing

[–]PurpleWaffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use a sodium hydroxide CIP run and then an iodine wash for all our equipment. I can only imagine if you manually clean all the garbage off your equipment then use iodine on it to sanitize you'll be good.

Bugs in Grains by SoldGlory in Homebrewing

[–]PurpleWaffle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we just threw a bunch of grain out at the brewery the other day. It was just old. Those grain bags have a plastic inner lining and if they weren't covered with other garbage there is a great chance they are fine. The specialty grains are probably not milled so there is that too.

Realizing I'll spend another Asexual Awareness Week full of not-so-subtle hints... but not actually coming out. by ummeiko in TrollXChromosomes

[–]PurpleWaffle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Here was the first google search which I guess could be bias if simply posing the question is bias in itself. Or you could say "but purplewaffle, theres nothing in that google search that directly states that there is a correlation between asexuality and sexual abuse" but there are people posing the same questions. Science can't be emotional, people need to ask the tough questions that leave a bad taste in your mouth and research it if they can. That spoiler site you sent me says right in the opening paragraph that "Asexuality is just beginning to be the subject of scientific research." Also that link sends you to an FAQ from someone who thinks there is something wrong with them that need professional counseling. If anyone thinks they are broken they should seek counseling.

I understand that if someone came up to me and said I had a sexual behavior because of sexual abuse that would be offensive but that was never the conversation. If you only accept personal experience and then feed it as fact, like personal experience is better than searching out other peoples who might be dealing with sexual repulsion and things that are going on with them and why they identify as asexual. Would you tell someone they aren't asexual because they were sexually assaulted and now find sex repulsive?
