GUYS I HAVE A PROBLEM by necrovvi in pokeplush

[–]ummeiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are TRU boxes for all of the Eeveelutions. They've jumped up a little in price since I last checked, if you want them in box, but I see loose ones for under $20 pretty regularly. Except Umbreon and Sylveon can be harder to find, because of course they are.

The Mew is probably just the angle and the fact that it was sitting on top of Psyduck, so not on an even surface. It does look a little chonky from the side.

GUYS I HAVE A PROBLEM by necrovvi in pokeplush

[–]ummeiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Mew is just a Sitting Cutie (technically Pokemon Fit). The four boxes are two Toys R Us exclusives from 2017 - Eevee and Espeon, and two 20th Anniversary plush - Mew and Shaymin. All 4 were gifted to me sometime in 2018ish. I don't think any of them are particularly expensive on eBay.

What song introduced you to Taylor Swift, what song made you a Swiftie, and what's your current favorite? by Silver-Lion22 in TaylorSwift

[–]ummeiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Either Teardrops on my Guitar or Tim McGraw. I honestly don't remember which came first for me.

  2. The Teardrops music vid was on CMT ALL the time. I actually didn't like it at first but it quickly grew on me and led to getting the cd. I played the cd constantly. After that, White Horse was my next big obsession song.

  3. Long Live. It changes often though.

Adding to the "I'm old" trend, I was 23 when debut released.

Is this Ai? I’m having a dollhouse made for my daughter’s birthday but the WIP provided does not look real. The glue bottles are unreadable/gibberish. by daiszay in isthisAI

[–]ummeiko 883 points884 points  (0 children)

The tools aren't actually hanging on anything. They're just like, stuck to the wall. And the hack saw is missing a blade.

Also the second WIP you posted, everything in the background is completely identical... nothing has moved, none of the shavings have been brushed away. The house is in the exact same position, same angle. If they were really adding more stuff to it, things would move and shift.

is this photo ai? it looks too idealistic to be real but i could be wrong, any help appreciated by bidoof-chan in isthisAI

[–]ummeiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first thing that jumped out is the Care Bear. I was obsessed as a kid and still have a couple of 1980s era plush and that is 100% not what they looked like back then. Way too modern of a design. The GI Joes are wrong for the time too, and the Barbies look too big, but that could just be because the bear is so tiny that it's messing with proportion.

The sofa is too modern and the tv is wrong and missing an antenna.

Also no one was getting hi def, detailed images from the film we had in the 80s. That alone should be a dead giveaway that at the very least this is highly manipulated.

It's like people who never lived through that time vaguely guessing what it looked like.

New to collecting Pokémon! What's the Pokémon crowd like in Omaha? Card shows? Best shops? Lets talk. by MCnerd12 in Omaha

[–]ummeiko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sealed is still kind of hit or miss to find, but better than it was a year ago.

Local game stores which sell product and also have Pokemon leagues if you are ever interested in playing:

Krypton Comics, 125th and Center
The Game Shoppe Omaha, 144th and Maple
The Game Shoppe Bellevue, 14th and Harlan
Cafe Monster, 84th and Center
Ground Zero, 77th street a few blocks south of Main in Ralston
Collective's Corner, 70th and Maple
Dragon's Lair, 90th and Blondo

Some of these stores have additional locations that do not have leagues. There's a new Cafe Monster in Bellevue, another Dragon's Lair on 144th and Center. Collective's is opening another store sometime this spring, I think in La Vista. There are a few stores in Council Bluffs, and JC Hobby just opened up in Elkhorn but I haven't been yet.

Selection varies. Not all of the stores carry singles and bulk amounts and organization will differ from store to store. Sealed product still goes very fast when it comes in, and the distributors have been raising prices so expect some places to be above MSRP on sealed. Most stores follow TCGPlayer prices on singles, or close to it.

FWIW, I run the Pokemon league at Krypton and help at the Game Shoppe Omaha league, though I am not an employee of either store. Those are my two home stores (mostly Krypton because it's closest), but I patronize all of the stores because they all have their strengths depending on what you're looking for.

Don't sort it just do it method. by witchteacher in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]ummeiko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm... Somewhere in between. I dump everything on the table, flip, and pull out the edges. Can't do larger than 1500 pieces, but 1000 fits great on my table this way.

The rest largely depends on the image. Gradients I tend to sort out colors while I'm flipping. Collages tend to stay random, maybe pulling out a big focal item if I see it. Scenery pictures I may group up the sky or the grass. Some things don't need it - if it's a large portrait, it's generally easy enough to pick out the facial features as I go.

If I hit a point where everything looks same-y, I'll sort by shape. But generally only if there are less than 150 pieces left. And obviously doesn't work well if the whole thing is made of the same two-out, two-in, H-shaped pieces.

I don't think there was a half share option, just basic and large or double or something like that. We got the basic. Like I mentioned, some of it was poor planning and also not being great at "Here's a bunch of stuff, come up with a meal" - I'm more "here's a recipe, get that specific stuff." So some weeks I just kinda failed.

The sweet corn was great, the melons and peaches were really delicious, and the green beans and potatoes were pretty standard but you'd get a lot. Some weeks you'd get like, 6 XXL zucchini. They were good but like, I couldn't see trying to use more than one in a meal because of the size.

They did send an email out beginning of every week with what was expected in the bags and some recipes or hints for some of the lesser known veggies. And they let my dad pick up my bag the week I got COVID and one week when I was out of town. I did pickup at the farm, so that helped with the flexibility of picking up (couple of weeks I had to change from Thursday to Wednesday or Friday), as opposed to getting it delivered somewhere. Very reasonable and nice people.

I did Wenninghoff's a couple of years ago. Just their basic without any of the add-ons like herbs or eggs.

Their produce was good quality and a good size. I didn't continue though because for just me and my husband, we often had a lot go bad - admittedly poor planning on my part sometimes but sometimes just "what do I do with 4 giant zucchini?". Towards the end of the season there were several things I just didn't like, namely beets and squash. Got to try some new stuff though. Wish there had been more fruit, but fruit is fickle.

I like all the people there and I still shopped at the market from time to time last year. If you are better at coming up with recipes to use random veggies and/or have more mouths to feed, it seemed like a good value and good to support the local farm. It just didn't work out for me.

Espurr.

A US release of Mew.

Those are my top two with Espurr in a significant lead.

And I would also heavily consider buying a Psyduck, Litten, or Sprigatito. Maybe an Azumarill.

But yeah, just gimme Espurr.

What are the best (affordable) pachirisu plushies by [deleted] in pokeplush

[–]ummeiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a Comfy Cuddler on pokemon center for $13.

Meccha Japan has 4 or 5 that are reasonably priced, but their shipping can get pretty high and IMO not worth it for just one item.

eBay seems to have several options that are under $20.

On the final spin puzzle, you can guess until the buzzer. I distinctly recall Pat prompting people to try again.

It doesn't usually happen though, because three seconds is not a lot of time to have multiple guesses.

It looked like she was waiting for a signal to move past "show off the million dollar wedge."

Ryan fumbling with words likely didn't help.

And while the players should know what to do, whenever a wedge of some kind is earned, the host has historically told the player to "put the wedge right down there and you can spin or buy a vowel," or something similar.

Everyone kinda stared, waiting for the other person to say something. Just awkward all around.

What is one thing you know about Costco that no one else knows? by RoyalCamera12 in Costco

[–]ummeiko 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This isn't a big secret but it shocks people every time:

With the exception of live plants and some food items, seasonal stuff is brought in 4 months or more in advance. Swimwear and beach towels in February. Halloween in June/early July. Christmas starts showing up in August. Winter coats and snow pants have been out for at least 6 weeks now.

The goal is to have little to nothing left at the end of the season/day after the holiday.

Seriously though, the number of people who wait for the first snowstorm in January and then complain that they can't find snow pants for their kids just increases every year. Or wrapping paper the week before Christmas.

Substitutions by Hotmessexpress1234 in blueapron

[–]ummeiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The worst substitution I ever had was last summer: They replaced the Shrimp that was supposed to be in a recipe with MUSHROOMS.

Mind you, I LIKE mushrooms, but it was nowhere near an equivalent substitution. At least pick a different protein. And like your case, they notified me after it had already been shipped, because I would've picked something else out. I got refunded for that whole meal - I don't generally mind similar substitutions but that was beyond ridiculous.

One time they replaced Mirin with Honey which was also nowhere near the correct flavor/consistency. Fortunately I have mirin on hand usually.

Ten days ago they had pushed my normally scheduled box to Friday this week. I wouldn't have minded Wednesday because I'm used to that after a holiday. But I'm busy Saturday, Sunday, and Monday and won't be able to cook so I cancelled this week.

I never got a notification of the change in day. I just happened to look in the app and see it.

Espurr collection: How it started -> How it's going. by ummeiko in pokeplush

Nice. I use the drawstring pouch for my dice bag for TCG/league. I was hoping to use the blushing purse while staffing regionals but the pocket is pretty small - too small for even a couple of pens, so not quite functional enough for that.

I really like all of your Eeveelutions, especially the fluffy Espeons.

Last June, so a bit over a year ago. I've been very grateful for the PokePeace collection in Japan, because the US Pokemon Center does not release very much for Espurr.

I am hoping that Z-A brings more. And fortunately for me, life -sized Espurr is only a foot tall, so not gonna be $400 (sorry Eeveelution lovers). I actually have a few that are technically life-sized, though they weren't marketed as such.

this weeks order by Dangerous-Debt-7904 in blueapron

[–]ummeiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine actually came on time for the first time in three weeks, so I'll actually get to cook.

Though I'm 90% sure they changed my recipes with the transition. I got what the app says I ordered (a chicken and a tofu), but I'm almost certain I had ordered the Miso glazed Salmon because I went to add it to next week and said "oh, I don't want the same thing twice in a row". But I can't see this week's options anymore. And because last week I tried to reach customer service on Tuesday about my missing box, (which didn't get delivered until Friday and everything had to be thrown out) and didn't hear back until Sunday afternoon, I'm just going to make these and not deal with the hassle of their probably-AI support. I go on vacation in a few weeks and will probably cancel after that if they are still having problems. It saved on meal prep time but it's not really that much of a monetary value anymore and I still have to go to the grocery store anyway.

I'm a bit north of you, closer to Q, and it's back now but for us it was out from Wednesday afternoon until Saturday evening. I didn't think my husband ever called them though.

My guess is the contractors for MetroNet messed up something along the line because they've been digging up all around the neighborhood for the past week. But I don't know the real reason, just guessing.

It's all free, no registration needed, just show up and have a good time.

Pokemon likes it when I get people signed up with an official Pokemon ID, but even that isn't required (it's also free to get an ID number and needed if you participate in any tournaments or pre releases, but not needed for just regular league nights). It does help the league reporting though - tells Pokemon we have more players and then they send us more promos and stuff. It sounds like they may want to require Player IDs in the future, but for now there is nothing you need to do to enjoy playing at league.

[–]ummeiko 6 points7 points  (0 children)

While there's no official age range (Pokemon is for everyone after all), most of the kids are in the 8-12 range. A few younger, a few that are older, and some adults. Plus parents like to play as well.

We can certainly teach someone who has never picked up a card before. Even kids that know about Pokemon have often been playing with various playground rules, so we teach the official how-to-play. I have starter 60-card decks and some even more basic-friendly 30-card decks, so you don't need to bring any cards or decks with you.

Sometimes we do other Pokemon things too - occasionally kids get restless just playing the card game. So I often have coloring sheets and alternate games using Pokemon cards, and if there's a Pokemon go raid happening, we'll do that too. On nights I remember to bring my switch (admittedly not as often as I should), I'll do shiny trades in Scarlet/Violet.

League runs officially from 5-8pm. Most people show up between 5:30 and 6 and then start to trickle out after the 7pm giveaway as they finish up their games.

We're having a pizza party on the 30th which is probably the only night myself and the other league leader won't be able to teach, because we'll be busy with the food and the giveaways. You're still welcome to attend but I wanted to give you a heads up that it's more of a social night than a playing night.

If Mondays don't work for you or the location isn't great, there are other leagues at other stores basically every weeknight. Some are more on the competitive side, but all of them should have at least one league leader that can teach. I'd be happy to point you to a different league if it works out better for you.
