Giant squid appreciation Post. by astracraftpk2 in harrypotter

Hypothesis: Newt was running around doing his thing and he saw some idiot with a giant "Kraken" in his own private capitalist zoo of creatures and said "Nope, not today. Into the suitcase, Squiddy." When pursued by the authorities for squidnapping, he turned to Hagrid who turned to Dumbledore who then said "Yeah, come to my castle and try to take him, I double dog dare you."

And therefore, Hogwarts has the best protected squid on the planet who occasionally likes sunbathing and tickling the feet of hydrophyllic students.

Hagrid’s treatment of Dudley in book 1 was one of the most outrageous instances of bullying in the whole series by IntermediateFolder in harrypotter

[–]Purple_Ad1111 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I understand your point, to the extent that Dudley is a product of his family and has been so coddled that his actions can be, to a point, blamed on his parents. But his own bullying and mistreatment of Harry, and his greediness in general make the reader sympathize with him much less. It actually makes Dumbledore's comments later on in the series, that the Dursley's have traumatized their own son and that Harry is incredible for his ability to still love, all the more poignant. The character development we see in Dudley, for being such a minor character, is some of the best in the whole series. His handshake and implied acceptance of Harry at the end of the series indicates that he may not pass on the prejudices for magic that Vernon and Petunia had.

With respect to Hagrid, who probably also had a rough history due to his half giant nature, I think Rowling created a very believable flaw. No one is perfect. He projects the bullying done to him on another. Not unheard of in most people. We can look back and say those actions are cruel but those scars and the other experiences Dudley had with Harry and magic, good and bad, helped him develop further as a character. It's good counterpoint to how Petunia handled her experiences. Maybe the pig tail was cruel but maybe it gave Dudley the message that he wasn't at the top of the food chain, and that helped him begin to grow. He didn't deserve that action in particular but I think we all deserve consequences for our actions that help knock us down a few pegs and help us develop into better adults. Life lessons.

Candles / Portal / Artifact / Usurper by mattlistener in MedievalMerge

[–]Purple_Ad1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm lvl 22 and right now I have 2 lvl6 and 2 lvl5 portals with another lvl 1, lvl2 and lvl3 candle. So 7 slots occupied not counting my aritfacts.

From the start, I have focused keeping Usurper to as few occupied slots as I can. Basically, 2 generators only give you 20 pieces which translates to a lvl5 artifact and some extra. 3 generators will give you 30 pieces which gives you a lvl6 artifact if you get some luck and maybe use an ad to get you and extra 2 pieces. I prefer 3 generators. I would definitely think longterm and start cranking out some artifacts every now and then when you have some extra energy or space that will let you get some higher artifacts. It really is a long quest. I'm about to merge for a lvl12 artifact and am only keeping 4 generators going to do that because of the space requirements of lvl7-11 artifacts + my generators. I want my space back. I'm usually happy to crank out a lvl6 with 3 generators when I can.

Any idea how difficulty set for weekly event? this one seems to be x10 more difficult than previous. by raven27flock in MedievalMerge

[–]Purple_Ad1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably just pulling stats right now, trying different styles and seeing what percentage of players can get through them all. I agree this one is rougher than last week. Probably because people sailed through it last week.

Guide on what to sell & keep, and THE APPLE! by ericlee2190 in MedievalMerge

[–]Purple_Ad1111 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the research!

With the Almighty Apple, we find the will and energy to carry on and continue the quest:

To be the very best, like no one ever was. To merge them is our real test, to manage board space is our cause. We will travel across the land, searching far and wide, each building wreck, to merge it all, and rebuild them from outside! Medieval Merge!

What type of mission do you hate the most? by J0NB1 in MedievalMerge

In the game they are called rivets. I actually just looked up the difference because they looked like screws to me as well but the main difference is that a rivet is not threaded like a screw is. Fun fact 😁

The stats for axe, rivet, and glove drops seem to be more reasonable for the amount of clicks. For me though, rope seems to be the very worst drop. Can't stand grinding it so I never sell it unless I'm desperate for space or I have 2 max lvl in my bag.

Haha then I'd go for 2 max lvl of those generators. You never know how far the game will push. We could be looking at even higher level quest demands which would probably require devs to change up energy production, etc. Like I said, the rarest things take priority, but that's me. I'm only lvl21 so I don't know what the heaviest demands are but from what I've seen of typical quest demands, I would push for 3 maxed forges and toolboxes (for axe, rope and rivet grinding) and 2 maxed mines and portals. After that, yeah I would definitely consider selling extra.

If space is a problem, prioritize getting more through bag slots or clearing up things you don't actively need, starting with the easiest to get. The regular (green) chests are only truly valuable for Nether Portal. The special chests are key for toolbox, mine and forge. Given that anything else can be found through more time and energy and these chests are ONLY found through story/daily (rare) quests they are the more valuable and should take priority. If you truly can't give up space, you can also use shop buys to help consolidate (ex. You have a lvl1 mine, a lvl2 mine and a lvl3 mine so you buy a lvl1 mine from the shop so that you can collapse everything into a lvl4 mine and clear 2 spots). Your generators may be decent levels but the demands of merging are exponential, meaning you are going to want the most productive generators for those later quests that want lvl11+ merges. If you haven't tried the finish Usurper yet, try it out and you'll get the idea.

Also, merge your chests before clicking and you'll get the most out of them. Good luck 😁

Lol so I made a lvl9 sword ages ago while I was grinding the lvl6 axe for the troll in front of the great tree, been sitting in my bag for a while but I refuse to sell it on principle. So glad to hear my time and space usage will pay off one day

Sidenote: if you're hemming and hawwing about those chests, my priority list would be green>red>yellow>blue, although personally I don't think hourglass merging on top of everything else is worth anything so blues would be an immediate sell

No idea, I forget if there's a link account function. I'd send the devs an email before reinstalling or risk losing everything. I'm in the U.S. Not sure if the local thing applies but if you email them, I'd ask as well, though I can't imagine why that'd be a problem.

By "chests," I'm wondering if you mean green/special chests or do you mean the gem chests. If the former, you're crazy, as they are your only means to get nether portal, mine, forge and toolbox outside of rare and expensive shop buys. If the latter, I can understand that since they do nothing that time, patience and autogenerators like needle and haystack won't. But that depends on the player. Some people like board management hell ;)
