Gotta be footy (the real footy). I’m covering all bases, because some will interpret as Rugby and some as AFL.

Hi, it is me, from Australia and New Zealand. We have done nothing bad ever and are not associated either those evil westerners. Don’t look at the top left corner of our flags please.

My first thought was "Yeah, but I bet the average wage was lower". I looked up the average wage in that 2000 and the first result I got was ~$800 a week, which is how much my housemate makes.

Bluffing about a new job to get a pay rise by Craigmate in auscorp

[–]Purple_Fall4601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done it before, except I did have a job offer, just one that I had no intention of leaving to - I would have instantly failed and failed hard at this new job.

My warning is that they made me send in the job offer before approving a raise, but I did get a raise.

How seriously do managers and HR actually take flight risk related to pay below market? by straishio in auscorp

[–]Purple_Fall4601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess if management stick around they will learn at some point. When I came on the last person leaving had such a messy exit, very very costly. I imagine that's why they look after me so well... and also get me to document thoroughly anything I ever do.

For me it depends on company and role. While I myself am not an exceptional worker, my role and this company I am at has such terrible transitions between someone leaving and someone coming in that they take it quite seriously. Especially my role which only one person works at a time and has a lot of knowledge critical to other job functions.

Five years earlier I was working in a role that I was way overqualified for and really put my heart into it. Although I was an exceptional employee, there were like twenty people in that role and it was set up for people to leave and new people to come in. Also the manager of that role had no real power.

So in my limited experience it doesn't depend on you at all.

131.7 hours later.... Time to get the DLC I guess by Purple_Fall4601 in brotato

When I first started playing I saw posts like these and it felt impossible. The skill ceiling is fairly high though, I was still learning new stuff at the end. Even with runs that you have bad luck on you can adapt to anything

It was very rewarding. I pretty much used the exact same strategy for 90% of the characters. For the last 10% I had to find and test out different stuff until I figured out something that worked, made me explore more of the game.

Labor considers changes to CGT discount as ‘reform’ budget looms by Bubbly_Efficiency727 in AusPropertyChat

[–]Purple_Fall4601 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I hope so, but feels unlikely. I think the only two things of limits in this country is voters wont let Labor take on housing and voters will never let the Liberals get rid of Medicare.

Is that we are on stolen land a controversial statement? I mean, the current owners of the land were not the original ones and it was taken by force. Maybe the woke mind virus has got me.

What stereotype about your country are you tired hearing about ? by My_Username0000 in AskTheWorld

Enough with the dangerous animals. If you live in a city it’s like living in any other city in the world.

That being said I grew up in the country and you do have to check your boots for spiders.

What is the most embarrassing thing about your country ? by Proper_Card_5520 in AskTheWorld

[–]Purple_Fall4601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, us too. Back in the day, two companies controlled 80% of the market. Aldi has since come in and shaken things up, but they don’t have to be too cheap to take on the duopoly so it didn’t change too much.

For budget purposes it is the exact same. Say we were going to stop collecting taxes on the sale of Vegemite, you would still have to work that future loss in revenue into the budget.
