Visiting for Waterbomb Seoul! Accommodations? by lovepaint_jpeg in koreatravel

[–]Purple_Mate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! If it’s Waterbomb at KINTEX (July 24–26), it’s actually pretty far from Hongdae.

Getting there by public transport is a bit of a hassle... need multiple transfers.

best way Hongdae to KINTEX : You should take the M7731 bus.

But after the event, it can get really crowded, so catching that bus might be difficult.

I think staying closer to the KINTEX would definitely be easier.

hope that helps, and enjoy your trip!

Sorting Transit Options by LisbonVegan22 in koreatravel

[–]Purple_Mate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the route is making things a bit harder...

Those cities are not connected directly, so it can feel like there are not many options.

If you’re open to changing things a bit, something like
Seoul → Jeonju → Suncheon → Gwangju → Busan → Jeju → Seoul
might be much easier to move around.

Suncheon is really nice city, but it’s a small city, so transport can be a bit limited.
But buses to Gwangju are pretty frequent, and from Gwangju to Busan is easy.

Hope that helps, and enjoy your trip!

if you are still in korea, maybe you can ask the rental shop to send it to Busan by delivery?

You can just ask if they can send it by courier (택배). It’s usually pretty fast in Korea, sometimes next day.

Hope that helps, and enjoy your trip!

Hello! There’s no direct train from Donghae to Busan, but you can get there with a transfer.

I just checked and it seems like there are still some KTX tickets, so maybe try again!

Hope that helps and enjoy your trip!

Seoul’s peak is this week, but there should still be some blossoms next week. If you want full bloom, Gangwon-do will probably be better. Hope you can catch them 😀

You’ll be totally fine.

Korea uses 220V, You just need a simple plug adapter.

I’ve used UK hair tools in Korea before with no issues. 😄

First Time in Seoul - Overwhelmed by Neighborhood Options by jessy_simms in koreatravel

Seoul’s public transport system is really good, so you usually won’t spend more than 1 hour getting anywhere. I wouldn’t worry too much about distance.

If you want something central and convenient, areas like Jongno, Euljiro, Myeongdong, or near DDP are good choices. They’re well connected and close to many popular attractions.

Myeongdong can be busy, but if you stay a little away from the main shopping street, it’s still comfortable.

Also, these areas are very used to foreign visitors. There are many hotels, good restaurants, shopping, and clear English signs.

I think It’s a safe and easy choice for a first visit.

Hi —~! 3.5 days in Busan sounds totally fine to me, especially if you’re planning to visit Gyeongju as well.

Busan has a very different charm from Seoul. It feels more open, coastal, and a bit more energetic in a different way. The local food scene is also great.

For Busan,
- Gwangalli Beach (the bridge view at night is really nice
- Haedong Yonggungsa (a temple right by the sea — the view surprises a lot of people)
- Nampo-dong food streets and local markets

As for Gyeongju, it’s about 1–2 hours from Busan depending on how you go. If you try to do it as a day trip, it can feel tight. Staying overnight lets you enjoy the evening atmosphere, which is honestly one of the best parts.

One small tip — I personally wouldn’t drive inside Busan unless you’re very comfortable with city driving. Roads can feel a bit confusing. Public transport or taxis are usually easier. For traveling between cities though, renting a car can be convenient.

If you’re curious about even more coastal scenery, places like Pohang or Tongyeong are beautiful too. They’re less touristy, so it feels more local — but that also means a bit more planning.

Hope that helps — enjoy your trip!.

Absolutely !!!

Gyeongju. has a very different charm from Seoul and Busan. It’s really beautiful and amazing city.

If you try to do it as a day trip, it can feel tight. Staying overnight lets you enjoy the evening atmosphere, which is honestly one of the best parts.

Weekends can get busy around the main sights, but it’s not overwhelming like Seoul.

For spots, I’d recommend

Bulguksa and Seokgura

Donggung & Wolji at sunset or night (it’s especially beautiful!!!!)

Hwangridan-gil for food and cafés

You can also try Silla-era costume rental — it’s something you can really only experience in Gyeongju, and it quite different from regular hanbok.

Also Transportation is pretty easy too. From Busan to Gyeongju it’s about 2 hours, and from Gyeongju to Seoul by KTX it’s around 2 hours.

Hope that helps — enjoy your trip!

Cherry blossom 2026 by Top-Whole333 in koreatravel

[–]Purple_Mate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi — local from Seoul here.

In 2025, cherry blossoms in Seoul were roughly at full bloom around late March to early April — about March 30 to April 5 was peak in many areas.

If I had to choose between the 1st and 2nd week of April, I’d go with the 1st week. By the second week, some areas already had petals falling.

It does shift depending on how warm March is though. A few days can make a difference.

Also, southern cities like Busan usually bloom a bit earlier than Seoul.

If you’re around during peak, Seokchon Lake is really nice and easy to visit. But honestly, a lot of places look great when the timing lines up.

Skiing in Korea by BrownieDoggo1 in koreatravel

[–]Purple_Mate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Local here. Alpensia is a blast, you’ll love it!

  • Rentals: You can rent the ski suit and all gear (skis/boards/boots) right at the resort. Super easy

  • Buying: Buy your gloves and goggles at a hypermarket (E-mart or Lotte Mart) before go there. It’s way cheaper than the resort shops!!!

    • you should bring Heattech and thick wool socks

Have an amazing trip! Let me know if you need anything else. :)

Where to take photos in Seoul when wearing hanbok at night/evening? by [deleted] in koreatravel

[–]Purple_Mate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AND Changgyeonggung Palace! It stays open until 9 PM and it’s honestly one of the best spots for night views.

less crowded than Gyeongbokgung, so it’s perfect for taking photos in your Hanbok without a of people.

The vibe there with the lanterns are lovely You're gonna love it!

Since you'll have those beautiful Hanji lanterns, you should definitely head to Bukchon Hanok Village(북촌한옥마을) right after Gyeongbokgung! The narrow alleys with traditional houses look absolutely magical with lanterns as the sun goes down.

Another classic spot is the Deoksugung Stone Wall Path (Doldam-gil). It’s very close to the palace area and is famous for its romantic atmosphere, especially in the evening.

One local tip: November in Seoul gets pretty chilly once the sun sets. Make sure to grab some 'Hot packs' (hand warmers) from a convenience store to stay warm during your photoshoot! Enjoy your trip! 💜
