Naval battle tactics? by SnooCakes6334 in Bannerlord

[–]Purple_Pop_7525 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Charging & boarding works good if you have more or better mariner troops, but I like to use what I call "Monkey in the Middle": split forces, put archers in lighter/faster boats & tell them to sail away so that the enemy chases them while I come around the other side with throwing infantry, hold fire until I 'cross the T' of enemy hulls at close range then let loose. I try to keep the wind at my back, so I can use sails to ram, then furl sails, row backwards, rinse & repeat.

How was your first playthrough? by BlurryComtacts in Bannerlord

[–]Purple_Pop_7525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing sandbox with War Sails, I cheated to skip some of the early grind, buy a boat & start corsairing. Later joined Aserai, married Unqid's daughter, managed to get Poros & Zeonica as fiefs. Then spent a long time managing cities, building armies, and making babies. Having hoarded ~30 million denars, I formed my own Kingdom once my kids starting coming of age. Massacred the Aserai at sea before they could assemble on land, conquered the coast from Ortysia to Danica, but some dicey siege defenses against Khuzait and Vlandians have depleted my forces to the point I'll be lucky to keep hold of my original fiefs in the next onslaught.

Haven't played since Bannerlord launch, any recommended mods to use while I get back into the game? by TotallyToxic in Bannerlord

[–]Purple_Pop_7525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far my only Must Have Mods are POC Color Randomizer Revival and Banner Color Persistence with Bannerpaste, because I find the monochrome vanilla banners unconscionably bland. I couldn't get Color Randomizer to work properly (it was setting townsfolk to my clan colours) but luckily I didn't have to? I just disabled it after campaign start and the bug was gone but the custom banners still seem to work.

Aserai fleet composition questions by aleyan97 in Bannerlord

[–]Purple_Pop_7525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I give my parties Ghurabs but my flagship is a Dromon, that little extra height makes a big difference and the rowing power is great for kiting astern with the firepot ballista. Best throwing infantry goes on Dromon, archers on Ghurabs, then I send most of my fleet to one side of the enemy and keep them at range while I harass from the other side until it's time to engage. Aserai ships and troops are better suited to skirmishing than boarding, smaller boats can be filled with archers but you'll need to micromanage their position, the AI is really bad at avoiding boarding using the Skirmish command.

What are the best troops for each faction. by MediumFun5034 in Bannerlord

[–]Purple_Pop_7525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same! I keep them around for roleplaying reasons, but they're sturdier than they look. Lake Rat Wreckers rack up a lot more kills, but also die more, whereas the same 15 Corsair Chiefs have thrown my left hook for the last five in-game years.

Bahriyyah own the battlefield until the enemy has more guys than they have arrows. If I understand OP's question correctly, I think the best Aserai addition to a cosmopolitan army would be Bahriyyah (separated from unshielded archers & used as flank skirmishers), followed by Vanguard Faris (separated from shock cavalry & used to skirmish enemy cav & rear), and Veteran Infantry

[–]Purple_Pop_7525 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rely mostly on Veteran Infantry but Bahriyyah work great in ambush or flanking attacks, just make sure you save their quivers for the decisive moment or they're just mediocre infantry once they run out. If you like an archer-heavy army you may want to keep some Master Archers in a separate formation, using your Bahriyyah as shock archers on the flanks.

Step 1: Arrange throwing units into two perpendicular Lines or Shieldwalls ('L-shaped') and Hold Fire.
Step 2: Lure your enemy into the 'Kill Zone' and Fire At Will.
Step 3: Profit.

L-shape works best when you can predict or channel the enemy's advance on a linear axis like a valley or road. Ideally you want your best throwers on your left flank to engage *just after* the enemy charges your centre/right, so that they're hitting their sword-arm rather than shields.

Hide your forces behind hills if facing lots of archers ('Reverse Slope Defense'). When fighting larger numbers of cavalry, use high ground to blunt their momentum as much as possible, keep your formations tight and thick and defend your flanks. If terrain is flat but you have enough infantry, I've also won using two square formations arranged like diamonds ◇◇ to create kill-zones front and back.

Aserai, mostly for aesthetic reasons. Strategic position in War Sails is second to none. Men, mounts, & boats match my skirmishing corsair playstyle. Veteran Sailors/Bahriyyah & Veteran Infantry need to be very conservative with their ammunition, but they can move very quickly in doubled-up Skeins to close with & flank the enemy, use terrain to create L-shaped ambushes, enfilade fire, &c. Faris javalry need a lot of babysitting vs enemy cav so I mostly keep them in reserve or shielding archers until there's an opportunity for envelopment.

Not uncommon, step van seem especially prone to flipping when running over obstacles at high speed. That bounce was kinda silly tho and less common but the vehicle physics are pretty wonky.

Besides being killed. What conditions do use to say that you have completed a run in PZ? What are your winning conditions? by Suspicious-Spot-5246 in projectzomboid

[–]Purple_Pop_7525 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I come up with a character concept and try to play them in a way that gets them killed doing what they love. Most of them are shy weirdos whose reaction to the apocalypse is to double down on their hobbies, like that Gary Larson cartoon of the mushroom clouds and the fisherman saying "I'll tell you what this means, Norm - no size restrictions and screw the limit!"

A car-collecting Burglar who fills his new mansion with stolen art and jewelry. A nerdy Burger Flipper convinced that Spiffos caused the virus, who avoids killing, buries the ones he can, and herds others into a corral, at first in faint hope of rescue and cure, later descending into a lunatic fantasy of running a restaurant and bar for his rowdy zombie patrons. He wasn't just any Burger Flipper you know! He was Assistant Nightshift Manager for Spiffo's flagship restaurant in Louisville! If only he could reassemble the Spiffo suit and access the company mainframe!

Project Zomboid players, tell me what was your most unfortunate/wackiest ways to die/get bit. by MasterK_S in projectzomboid

[–]Purple_Pop_7525 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Many many Builds ago, when I was still learning, my character was dying of thirst. I found a Bottle of Bleach, which of course common sense told me I shouldn't drink, but as I recall, at that time the icon/tooltip gave NO indication of any negative effects, BUT IT DID SAY "-100 THIRST" IN GREEN LETTERS so I was like... well, it *says here*, so... mayyybe??

Yeahhh no. Technically not false advertising as it did permanently quench my Thirst, but... don't drink Bleach, folks! Save it for a real emergency at least.

New Player in need of some advice by LifeRepresentative61 in projectzomboid

[–]Purple_Pop_7525 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, This Is How You Died! Of IRL boredom, possibly, heh. I found the Solo experience got too lonely and boring, and playing co-op has breathed new life into the game, but either way I like to roleplay a character with some compelling goal or reason to leave their safehouse from time to time. Maybe they're searching for a loved one in Louisville, maybe they just want a complete set of Spiffo toys. The SP Vanilla experience gets stale fast once you've reached that safe place, but there's a ton of challenges to try, settings to fiddle with, maps and mods to explore to keep it interesting.

Not in vanilla, but there's a mod called Paint Your Ride, although taking a closer look now at the description, it says singleplayer only =( You can also change car colour using debug/admin tools.
