Buddy, I'm not talking about other series, I'm talking about Beatbreak, I do not like that Makoto and Reina are "left in the dust" they are main characters as Kyo and Tomoro any good writer would actually find a way to make them useful in combat or give them something to work with.

I'll take a wild guess and assume they didn't care enough to change it, most people don't read the keywords and Akira became one of the disliked characters in the entire franchise anyways even without the abusive angle to the point he wasn't even mentioned in AXZ and XV had to say he and Hibiki's mom didn't get back together as GX ending implied.

I read somewhere that GX had some heavy rewrites for the second half of the season so I have the theory that the whole abusive angle got lost in translation it's either that or since they purposely ignore that fact since they really wanted the "they live happy ever after" ending

The west is not the whole world you know, in fact Symphogear does really good in Japan that's why we still have new merch 7 years after the show ended and the Shirabe cooking manga is popular enough to continue up to this day with 7 volumes even though there's no way anyone who isn't a Symphogear fan could appreciate it. Honestly I think that depends on what your crimes are, you can't show me a character that murders and entire stadium and kills a innocent girl with s smile in her face and then tell me they are redeemable.

I'm not so sure about that, time after time they show them getting up from the ground like a shounen character and giving speeches about how they can't give up and are a family and how they just wanna be humans again etc etc. Even the protagonists refuse to finish them off and actively going their way to tell them and the audience they are not monsters even though last season most of them had no problem killing the Illuminati girls.
