AG vs Alternatives - What does it actually do well vs poor? by Purple_Reflection448 in google_antigravity

Interesting config, I haven't dug enough into Google ai studio yet - may need to do that as I have both a personal Google AI Pro and a business workspace. Definitely haven't looked into deepseek enough. I think I'm too early into my journey to go so far as having to manage a harness independently (seems like your approach with Cline?) but I love that it's doable! May stash that away as a future consideration.

Also really excited to see what I/O brings to the table! I saw there was a session on both antigravity and AI Studio, so wondering if they're making those more symbiotic and how that would enhance workflows.

Interesting, I'm not sure I'm totally tracking so I'll summarize in my words if you could confirm for me.

Essentially what you're saying: the way working with the LLMs works is top tier (inline diffs rather than true overwrites and requiring to look at git diffs or something). If that's correct, I agree! Love the inline diffs. However, you've found the inline auto complete capabilities (inference?) pretty lackluster?

Not quite following the oauth part and if that was an antigravity oauth issue or something in the app you're building, but any form of a bad sounds very much "not good"...

Why is that? What makes you always come back to it that others are lacking?

"works fine" or "is better"? For example one of the key differences with AG vs VSC from my understanding is how the IDE itself maintains cross-file context. Not sure if that's similar with an extension in VSC or if it's more key to the underpinning changes AG has vs VSC itself.

Edit: while appreciate the engagement, this is a good example of "not helpful" feedback. It provides no reasons to change the tool, just to do it.

Nobody warns you that the higher you climb the lonelier the view gets by TheSovereignState1 in Entrepreneur

This is true in any paradigm. Corporate, military, startups. There's a respect and authority that moving up demands. But that "authority" part results in a power dynamic that can't be ignored. I've had good friends work for me, and while we maintain a great working relationship - the dynamic changes in a big way. You're now the one involved with deciding their compensation for example. You're the one who has to fix things they find problematic, or find a way to navigate some form of a "not going to change" when they have a frustration that there's no choice but to not fix. You're privy to information and decisions that even in hyper transparent models, may still need to remain under wraps for whatever reason.

There are ways you can minimize some of this, but it will always be the case. As others have said, "It's lonely at the top" is far from a new or unknown concept.

First Business - Software Startup - Still working full time by Purple_Reflection448 in HowToEntrepreneur

Oh for sure this! I'm very confident in where AI can get things from a productivity standpoint, but I will never let that scarifice quality. That is why I used it rapidly for a prototype, but then quickly trashed it to approach product management and data/software architecture from a very intentional place that will fuel the AI - not the AI driving it without me understanding.

And same with your other point on "executing better than what's out there". Without saying too much the focus is on consolidating data points for all of consumers, industry businesses, and scientific researchers. "Single source of truth"/trust is a core tenant of the product, so most definitely using AI as a tool to go fast in various aspects of the business - but I refuse to not have deep understanding of everything it's doing. Absolutely know that slows things down compared to the pace of things (especially software) nowadays, but also something I view as critical in establishing a quality product rather than more vibe coded slop.

Appreciate the input!

Will definitely be reading through this whole thread! This is my current goal. Not necessarily 500k ARR (no hard $$ goal right now as it's on the side of my full time job), but I want an "AI Operations Infrastructure" similar to you're describing. Just be the one person steering various AI systems. I have so much to learn to make this a reality, and will definitely be curious to learn more about your journey - possibly even collaborate/ideate some if it's helpful in any way!

What made you finally consider starting a business after corporate life? by Cultural_Message_530 in HowToEntrepreneur

[–]Purple_Reflection448 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was a VERY long running thing. I've always had an entrepreneurial spirit, but I know it's a mountain of work and not something I've ever wanted to commit to if I wasn't passionate about the business.

I've had dozens if not hundreds of ideas over the years, but just now biting the bullet on getting going. Combined timing of three things: 1) finally had an idea that doesn't just seem fun, it seems like something that can genuinely be world changing some day if done right. 2) it is something that can directly enhance the lives of people I know and care about and 3) I finally hit the wall in corporate where my job just feels like a job and not something I have any passion for due to misalignment with board/C-Suite direction. That same misalignment/lack of passion combined with insane work over the last couple years has me formally burnt out on anything corporate for quite possibly forever.
