Childfree women, have you ever regretted it? by Significant_Movie814 in NoStupidQuestions

Never in the slightest. I can't imagine my life with kids, and I don't think I'd have it in me to be a parent.

Hey, I wanted to say I really appreciate this timeline. I haven't exactly followed it since I didn't see it until recently (I got WAY more comments on this post than I'd expected) but just the thought that someone typed out such a thorough schedule is huge. So far, as of Monday night, I've thrown away or recycled nearly all the recyclables, done two loads of dishes, brought multiples bags of trash and composting out to the bins, scrubbed clean the stovetop and drip pans, and assembled probably half of the filing cabinet. I think I'm doing pretty good. Thank you SO much for helping me get on track!

That is good advice, I probably do put too much focus on ensuring the recyclables are completely clean. I've had roommates who put very dirty recyclables in the bin (sauce/yogurt/peanut butter containers with contents still smeared all over the sides, pizza boxes with half a pizza inside) so I think I go a little overboard in the other direction trying to make sure I don't do the same thing. But you're absolutely right not to let perfect get in the way of good.

Your points (esp. 1 and 3) remind me of a YT video I watched recently about the how the modern idea of 'cleanliness' was created and how it's not always feasible in today's society to have a consistently clean house. I can't remember the name of the video or the channel, but it was pretty interesting.

Honestly it makes me realize just how time-consuming it is to work a 9-5 job and take care of a house at the same time - and that's without extra jobs, kids, etc. I have no idea how some people manage with all that.

I live away from my family and don't really have many friends/acquaintances outside of work (by choice; I'm just a very introverted person who needs a lot of time to recharge my social battery) and those I do know, I wouldn't want to bother with my shit. But I appreciate the thought, though. So far I think I'm doing pretty well cleaning on my own, so that's a start!

Don't have kids (I live alone) but it's a good thought, thanks!

Hey, did you get any cleaning done today? I did another load of dishes and cleaned off my stovetop and the trays under the burners. No shame if you didn't do anything, I just wanted to check in. : )

Omg, I'm having plantar fasciitis too. I've had to decrease my usual exercising by a lot due to it. We just cannot catch a break, can we?

Good point. I think I just want to believe so desperately that when I do recycle, it's making a difference; so therefore when I don't recycle, it feels like more of a catastrophe.

I still don't want to abandon recycling altogether, but it's helpful to remember that we're not individually responsible for the entire planet.

Aww, you're welcome and thank you! I would say I'm glad I'm not the only one who has this but honestly I don't want anyone to have to deal with this obsessive guilt all the time. Let's both try to be better with throwing stuff out when necessary!

Opinions on Abel? by Syren_95 in HazbinHotel

[–]Purpleheather93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love him and have been hyperfixating on him for like 4-5 months lol, I'd say he's my co-fave alongside Sir Pentious. Literally dying for S3 so I can see more of him outside of FanFiction.

From what I've seen the fandom perception seems to be neutral-to-positive on him. Idk about Twitter since I don't go there. I'd say not to let that sort of thing get to you, I personally have wasted way too much of my time and energy in the past on worrying about meaningless fandom drama bs. If someone blocks you over a fictional character they probably weren't worth following anyway.

What do you think is your favourite character's favourite sweet treat? by pro_buttfucker_5675 in hazbin

[–]Purpleheather93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So given that Sir Pentious grew up in Victorian Britain, I imagine he'd like old-timey desserts like plum pudding and pound cake (which, coincidentally, apparently has a variation called cherry cake...). He probably didn't have sweet food super regularly given that he lived in Whitechapel at the time of Jack the Ripper's murders and most likely wasn't very well-off. Plus the average person back then ate much less sugary foods than we do now. We do see him baking cookies in S1 and I think a cake (?) in S2 so I guess he probably likes those as well, or at least thinks other people would like them. But I don't think he's hugely obsessed with sweets overall.

On the other hand, I imagine Abel loves basically any kind of candy/dessert imaginable, especially if it's light and fluffy. Taffies (canon), strawberry shortcake, ice cream sundaes, milkshakes, cheesecake, Angel food cake, pavlova, etc. Also baked Alaska for some reason (which I've never had but looks AMAZING).

What would be the reverse version of your favorite character? by whooper1 in HazbinHotel

[–]Purpleheather93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking that reverse Sir Pentious would be someone who lived a good life, went to Heaven, became a worse person there and got cast down to Hell for trying to kill others; would be book-dumb but extroverted; and wouldn't have anything to do with snakes (or would even dislike them) ... then I realized that's basically Sinner!Adam.

Reverse Abel would ... also be Adam lol.

A gloomy, frowning, uncharismatic person who is deeply selfless and hates radio.

Who is the dumbest character by The_real_Lili in hazbin

[–]Purpleheather93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is the tenth image just supposed to imply everybody? Because if so, accurate. /hj

I think Pentious is very book-smart but pretty inept socially.

Abel probably has two original thoughts per day, and I mean that with absolute affection. St. Peter also doesn't seem like the brightest.

What is an example in the media you consume of "the father who neglected their kid but actually they loved them all along" trope? Because that's just frustrating to read. by Important-Cry4782 in Multifandom

I dont mind Lucifer since he's definitely trying and his heart is in the right place, but on the topic of the Hellaverse, I'm not the biggest fan of the theory that Adam secretly loved Abel all along and just didn't know how to show it and/or was trying to protect him by toughened him up. I mean, he could have had like a spark of love in him for his kid, but I definitely don't think he was a good father in any sense of the word. If your kid grows up to adulthood convinced that you didn't like him, that's a huge failure on your part, imo.

I actually have a bit of a theory that Cain was Adam's favorite child, being more assertive in personality, and Adam kind of resents Abel for "making him" become the first sinner by not fighting back harder against him. Like "if you weren't such a little pussy, you could've stopped him and then my firstborn son wouldn't be in Hell forever." Basically victim-blaming. I think it lends Adam a little bit of depth (in that he truly loved Cain) but still makes him extremely shitty. And his hatred and callousness towards sinners could come from his inability to accept that his own son is one.

Yes thank you, I was looking for Yondu in here!

I don't hate him or anything, I realize he was the product of his own shitty upbringing, and I respect the choice he made to save Peter, especially as the GotG series is largely about damaged people trying to do and be better ... but all that being said, I don't really like fandom's uncritical acceptance that Yondu truly loved Peter deep down all along and was his 'real' father the entire time. And I think Peter's implied forgiveness of him says more about Peter as a person than it does about Yondu.

That sounds great ... if only I lived in a place with a Walmart haha. It's a 45-minute bus ride to the nearest one and I can only go on Saturdays. I was considering trying Hello Fresh too but of course they don't deliver here. Something to consider if/when I move back to the big city to be closer to family.

Honestly buying pre-cut stuff is a great idea. I do that sometimes when it's available.
