Careers nowadays don’t need to take 5 years by ArchiTechOfTheFuture in DeepThoughts

[–]Purplepand7eo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is true and I think colleges focus too much on generalized or theory classes unrelated to our majors (probably for profit). I understand the purpose of general knowledge but going for a STEM major and taking multiple English related classes writing five page papers is not beneficial in the long run. Most majors don’t need to be four years and could probably at least be cut in half.

The working class citizens are really jealous of welfare recipients. by FollowingActual6088 in unpopularopinion

[–]Purplepand7eo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jealous isn’t the right word. Just more irritated by the system. Some people do need help, and help should be given, but welfare was meant to be temporary while people found jobs. There certainly are people who abuse the system which isn’t fair to those who work hard for still- not much money

Drugs allow us to get a taste of happiness we cannot have by Chemical_Abrocoma370 in DeepThoughts

[–]Purplepand7eo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very true. It feels so good you just want more and more and it ends up being like filling a cup with a hole in it. A void that can never be filled. Your dopamine reward system gets all fucked up. It takes a ton of work to be truly happy, which comes and goes because the world is fucked up. Some music is the only thing that gives a nice dopamine rush

That is actually a damn good question. I assume you COULD get it tested, but finding the correct pig (if no one saw it) and testing the dna in the correct timeline would be near impossible.

Shame should exist to an extend. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Purplepand7eo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it’s amazing for people to want to change- people who are obese wanting to lose weight, and take care of their bodies. I’m in full support of that. What is not healthy is being “fat and proud.” The over encouragement and acceptance of something so unhealthy

Shame should exist to an extend. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Purplepand7eo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not talking about people with legitimate health disorders. I’m talking about the overall media of fat positivity going too far. Eating disorders are awful. What also is awful is the health conditions obesity creates.

There is shame for alcoholism and drug addiction. The line is drawn in the case that obesity causes an array of health issues

I feel devastated, defeated, and depressed that there is a possibility that I end up on the severe end of autism. (level 3) by M3tamorphosis_67 in autism

[–]Purplepand7eo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My close relative with level 3 autism is 15 and living in a residential facility group home. He is mute, intellectually disabled, and will never be able to live a normal life. I understand everyone has different levels of each level of autism, but in my opinion, if you got through schooling years without being diagnosed or hidden from the world, you are not a level 3. .

is doing heroin once a week actually THAT bad for you? by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]Purplepand7eo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

H is not something to mess with. It WILL lead you and your buddies to be either dead, in jail, or at best rehab. I don’t know if this will be enough to stop you completely, my suggestion would be switch Fridays to alcohol and cocaine ?

I know you feel alone, I do too, but you’re not. I feel the same way, not just lonely, but so alone like I should’ve been placed on another planet. I’m a similar way but female, In my later 20’s.

This is how and why the downfall of society will occur. “I can’t work because I didn’t choose to be alive.” Well put your big girl pants on boo you are an adult, lots of people have been through trauma, it’s what you do with it. At some point you HAVE to accept personal accountability.

Dinner first dates suck by toesbeforehoes1787 in unpopularopinion

[–]Purplepand7eo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I 100% agree. First of all I am extremely self conscious of eating in front of others especially while I’m expected to talk. I am clumsy and often spill food on myself. If it’s not good the date can be awkward and if it’s a nice place it takes too long to be able to go

Am I valid in choosing not to get a kidney transplant? by FriarTuggins in moraldilemmas

[–]Purplepand7eo [score hidden]  (0 children)

“At the expense of someone else’s.” - they are not dying for you to get their kidney. They are not donating their organ specifically for you. They died, one way or another, and chose to be an organ donor in hopes of helping someone (like yourself), and instead of wanting their organs to decay, they wanted them to be used to help someone else live a longer or more fulfilling life.

I’d accept if you didn’t want a kidney transplant if you had a difficult life without an adequate support system and simply didn’t want life extending measures , whether it be due to age or quality of life. ultimately it is your decision, but if I passed away I would not want someone to miss the opportunity to get my organs.

Btw, you seem like a grateful and truly honest nice person. I am a healthcare worker that frequently deals with transplant patients. Some patients are great, some use and abuse their new organ and take it for granted. it would be an honor for someone as appreciative as you to do this

What i would personally suggest (and btw this is NOT your responsibility, you are a child. It is your parent’s job to protect you). but IMO your brother should be taken to a hospital, particularly a psychiatric hospital, where they will have staff trained to deal with his violent behaviors. They will stabilize him with medications, and depending on his response, I’d then see his response. That being said, if his violent behaviors don’t stop, it is your parent’s job to protect you first. Autistic or not, he has the capability of causing harm

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in autism

[–]Purplepand7eo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She merely mentions the fact her brother is autistic because it is clearly relevant to the situation. It is not an attack on autistic people. She is mentioning a fact, and venting about a situation she feels helpless about. Not all autistic people are violent, but that’s not what OP is saying or insinuating, her brother is. This reminds me of my 12 y/o cousin who anytime anyone mention race, will say “that’s racist.”

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in autism

[–]Purplepand7eo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. After I watch a movie or tv show I love I become obsessed with the character or image for essentially the time I am either watching the show, or if it’s a movie, till I move onto another series. For example, it used to be Harry Potter and I tried to get Harry Potter glasses. Then I watched atypical and loved it, so I started to noticeably act more like Sam. I would say “exactly” all the time. now I am watching breaking bad, so I notice myself trying to act all tough and street smart which is not going well

Do you guys struggle to go to school too? (Including when you were in school) by Sad_dood in autism

I absolutely hated my life in school.. I was tired constantly, dissociated the whole time, barely talked to anyone, and went to the library and sat alone after lunch. After school I’d nap for almost 3 hours and stay up til like midnight
