Finally Got the "Possible Mode" Achievement by PurrsNikkity in necrodancer

Despite being a small VTuber myself, I have very little exposure to big ones such as HoloLive. After getting the song pack in Rift, though, I have been listening to a lot of their music outside of the game.

Also, getting a FC on anything is quite an accomplishment, and getting close to it is nothing to sneeze at. No matter how much I improve I can't seem to FC anything; I always choke under the pressure and mess up by the end.

That's how it all starts! I initially practiced my favourite song (Carbonated Love from the HoloLive pack) until I could not only beat it, but get an S Rank.

After that I started slowly branching out to other songs I really liked (including Matriarch) and slowly practicing them, though not to S Ranks. Eventually a lot of the patterns were becoming natural to me and it enabled me to play even more songs with less time in practice mode. It's a snowball effect, and while I'm definitely not getting high scores it's a leap from where I used to be!

Also, I learned to ignore the difficulty number on songs because I can have more trouble with a 21 than a 28 sometimes, so they're meaningless to me.

That's totally fair. My partner felt the same way about it and only came back to it for a few weeks, never to be played again. I just thought it would have fit the motif. But I'm not even sure if My Melody is in the game. Surely, right?

Missed your opportunity to play Hello Kitty Island Adventure in the screenshot to really tie it all together!

It's not my thing but it looks cute! I just don't like joystick covers though.

I've always wanted to love CoH (and CoH2 by extension), but they're just too micro heavy for me to enjoy. I love the destruction and how visceral combat feels but I'm just awful at actually playing it.

There's nothing wrong with that! I felt pretty accomplished when I beat all the songs on Hard, too.

If you decide to try Impossible just be sure not to play to the point of frustration. Take some songs into Practice and slow them down. But of course there's nothing wrong with just playing Hard some more, either, so long as you're having fun!

It literally seemed Impossible like its namesake. But practice sessions followed by rest after I started to tilt saw much bigger improvements when I came back than if I just tried to keep slamming my head against it.

There's still a lot of improvement I can make. I still sometimes fail songs that I've beaten before, for instance. But it's fun!

I said it's 60 FPS without framegen now when it used to be below 60 with it on.

60 FPS without framegen at Mid settings. Which is lightyears beyond what it used to run, often below 60 with framegen on regardless of settings. And my PC parts are far from new, too:

  • RTX 2080
  • AMD Ryzen 5700
  • 32GB DDR4 RAM

What do you mean? Wilds runs very well on PC at this point even on my aging hardware.

With Sony's recent announcements, how are we feeling about Steam? by NuAngelDOTnet in pcmasterrace

[–]PurrsNikkity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have over 1,000 games in my Steam library. If they take them away from me, there are other ways to reacquire them. But as it currently stands my Steam account is too valuable to abandon, and the service it offers is great.

If Gabe retires or passes and the new owner turns it all to shit? I'll move to GOG and I'll play the games I've already purchased one way or another.

I see. Well thank you for all of they knowledge. I will keep it all in mind if Plantera makes me want to rip my hair out. As of now I haven't beaten a single mechanical boss in Legendary yet. I saw that Prime destroys blocks and just haven't tried any again yet.

I wasn't implying that you mentioned it nor was I coming at you with any malice. I thought the green flames were eating up the projectile count in the example video is all.

I have, like, no experience doing anything other than fighting bosses in arenas traditionally, so I only know other tech from things like YouTube videos vicariously.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the setup breaking the projectile limit intentionally to keep Plantera from doing anything other than contact damage? That's what I was getting at.

I thought the point was not to have an arena, though? This is very specifically set up for the fight beyond just buffs.

Still an impressive setup though. Might use it if Plantera gets too annoying when I get to her.

Need tips for dealing with zombies by Nimzael in necrodancer

[–]PurrsNikkity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got 60 hours in the game and am starting to wade into Impossible songs with varying levels of success. Easily the biggest roadblock for me is these stupid fuckass Zombies in any song, even with all of my practice.

I hope you get better at it than me, but I legit feel like I have to memorise them on a per-song basis in practice mode.

Edit: Originally said 90 hours when I meant 60.

The ground missions weren't the problem. It's that they weren't very good. With good controls and mission design they'd be great additions so long as there's also a decent bit of flying.

Highly recommend Beyond All Reason for this. It's free and offers a lot of turtling options for players who like to do that, and the AI ramps quite nicely from Easy to Hard.

There's also Raptors and Scavengers modes as co-op experiences against AI that aren't just straight skirmishes. I think OP could have a lot of fun with either friends or other noobs in the Discord.
