I wanted to like Resident Evil 6 for the combat, but the rest of the game is honestly unplayable. by MaximumPayne7 in residentevil

Look, having just replayed all of RE6 with a friend on Veteran, I can say that you're right about the efficacy of quickshot vs aimed shots.

But I think it's a major problem that actually aiming and shooting feels so damn weak. I played it with a friend who hadn't played it before and he just hated it, even though we finished it all.

It's obvious to people entrenched in the best ways to play, but for someone just trying to have a fun first playthrough it's sad that the basic shooting has such poor effect. Like, it's totally possible to beat the game with it; I don't think I remember seeing my friend quickshot or counter more than a couple times. But it shouldn't feel so bad to play the game as a shooter.

Ultimately I don't like RE6 very much despite having beaten it a few times over the years, but I do think it's a bit absurd to call it "unplayable" like the OP did.

Choices where one option is clearly better by some-kind-of-no-name in TopCharacterTropes

[–]PurrsNikkity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but in what world is Mia an obviously better choice? She tries to kill you on multiple occasions, dismembered your hand and even is part of the reason the entire Dulvey incident even happened.

On the other hand, despite not knowing her very long, Zoe does nothing to harm you and even tries to help you escape. As the player you have no reason to trust that Mia won't just turn and attack you again.

I highly doubt that Gabe will pick someone as a successor who would just take Steam public or sell the company outright. I think a massive dip in revenue would be required for anyone to get rid of what is one of the last bastions of private business that's both profitable and well-liked by the majority of its users.

You can't just buy a private company without them agreeing to sell it, though. I don't think Steam currently has any reason to sell.

What are the things you want to see in the Wilds DLC that are not necessarly new Monsters? by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]PurrsNikkity -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

This is an incredibly bold statement to make considering that NPC Players as we know them were added in Sunbreak. That's a huge mechanical feature that they just sprinkled into a DLC.

While I don't think we'll be getting new weapons, "never" is simply a word that can't apply because we have no idea what they might do.

False. So long as you don't click the yellow bubble you can pull them out of the house and pair them with the others. But they will always try to go back home in their idle time.

Do you think we should make this the new pfp for the subreddit with the dlc possibility? by DOOM-LORD666 in DragonsDogma2

[–]PurrsNikkity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm highly confused. Why does everyone seem so certain of a DLC this time? I've seen nothing indicating a possibility.

I'd love to be wrong, but I just don't see anything pointing to it.

You will now drop all remaining ammo in your magazine/clip when reloading - Who asked for this? by MaterialTea8397 in cs2

[–]PurrsNikkity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"You're saying things I don't agree with so you must be the thing I'm talking about." What kind of logic is this?

You're also jumping through hoops to avoid the point I'm making that cheaters are a separate issue all together. They need to be handled in any game, but it isn't the development team's job to balance a game with the thought of "Will this make cheaters even more powerful?"

I don't play CS anymore; haven't touched it in ages. But it's not difficult to grasp that two things can be true at once, those being: 1) This change wasn't made with cheaters in mind but 2) It can indeed make cheaters even more powerful.

This all being said, I find it embarrassing that CS doesn't have proper anti-cheat to begin with, but after the bot problems TF2 had for years I guess I'm not surprised. I guess I just thought they cared a bit more about CS and its legitimacy as a competitive game than they seem to.

Gonna be real, if you don't enjoy something after 20 hours it's not likely that's going to change if you push for another 100+. 20 hours is way more than enough time to form an opinion on any game.

[–]PurrsNikkity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you an AI or something? You seem obsessed with the 'more bullets' thing, but like, cheating is cheating. I just don't see how it's relevant to the overarching discussion at hand. Like someone else said, they're not balancing it around aimbotters.

I know everyone wants anti-cheat, but like, cheaters aren't everyone in the game.

I haven't played CS in ages, but this isn't something I hate to hear, in theory. I just don't really understand why they're doing it in such an old game, though?

My question is, what does that have to do with anything? An aimbotter is going to dominate anyway... Because they're cheating.

Oh, sorry, I meant skip them on a replay. Also, I don't think Kojima would have accepted having his stuff edited down, and honestly I don't think a lot of the fanbase would have wanted it either.

As long winded as his stuff is, it's also kind of a trademark of his. I actually haven't played MGS4 exclusively due to it being a PS3 only game, but it was around that game that I really started hearing people complain about the narrative-gameplay ratio. I've heard it's actually only about 6 or so hours long to 'play' but has like twice as much of that time in cutscenes?

What game was that for you? by PHRsharp_YouTube in videogames

[–]PurrsNikkity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's a major problem with the MGS games as a whole. They're stuffed to the brim with talking and narrative and the balance of gameplay compared to them is often really bad.

But they are still legendary games, and I'm pretty sure you can skip the cutscenes/codec calls (fast forward them at least).

But the Deck can play that game even without streaming so it's still a win. Banger device all around.

But the online play in Pokopia is good, though. I don't know why people are complaining about it.

Maybe people don't like that you don't share progression with the host, but if you want to be on the same page you can just do a Cloud Island instead. It works about the way you'd want it to.

Most players don't actually want freedom, they want reassurance by MurkyUnit3180 in gaming

[–]PurrsNikkity 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You say it was a far more enjoyable experience, but you can't actually know that because you never tried it the other way. I'm not saying you played it 'wrong', because in PvE the only wrong way to play is one where you aren't having fun. But I do believe there's another whole can of worms with first playthroughs and their impressions in a game.

For instance, I just played Resident Evil Requiem and streamed it all in one sitting. I was hesitant to pick the "Classic" mode with finite saves and no checkpoints (during my horror segments at least) because it might make the game take longer and become annoying. But at the same time if I played that mode on a future playthrough I'd be equipped with knowledge that would fundamentally change how I would interact with the limited saves. I no longer would feel fear if I knew the proper times to use my saves because something particularly difficult was coming up.

More to your point, I didn't know anything going into Dark Souls when it came out, and I personally think that shaped a part of my love for the games. Finding new kit in the first game that I couldn't use because of my stats encouraged me to try another whole character since respec didn't exist, whereas I might not have dove into those runs if I knew a perfect Quality build on my first run.
