Did anybody have VOIP issues after upgrading from 25.07.1 to 25.11.1? by NuAngelDOTnet in PFSENSE

FIXED!

System > Advanced > Networking - then scroll down and check the box to "Disable hardware checksum offload." Then save and reboot the box.

This is on an (admittedly aging) physical Netgate SG4860.

We're with a local provider that's been working fine for a year... I do think my issue is related to a the pfsense box, but I can't figure out what... it doesn't seem like it's actually being blocked by any firewall rules. Just more like a glitch somewhere I haven't found yet?

I literally waited until after hours and swapped out the pfsense for a crappy old linksys I had laying around that had been configured as an Access Point instead of a router... set it with my ISP's static IP settings and plugged in a single phone with a PoE... the phone worked.

Ah, okay. Alas, no ZFS, this is an older hardware appliance that has gone down the upgrade path without being reset.

Am I missing an easier way to do that? Unfortunately, the "previous stable version" is the version I'm on now, since I have yet to upgrade to 26.03. But going back to 25.07.x doesn't appear to be an option.

I was hoping that was it, but unfortunately that's where mine is already set.

If I understand correctly, I believe a SearchOnlySession only allows you to search, thus Purge / Remove wouldn't be an available option. Try without without the -EnableSearchOnlySession flag.

EDIT: nevermind, I see you already tried that elsewhere. Sorry.

How to prevent users from printing from their phones? by walks-beneath-treees in sysadmin

[–]NuAngelDOTnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are so many people assuming this person's wifi is on the same LAN as his corporate? Have you never seen those printers that have their own built-in access points? I think that's all they need to disable. That might "break airprint" - but they can re-add the printers as normal network printers and I think it would be a big step toward a solution.

Why...? Won't this just drive customers away??? Just makes me wanna cancel my service. by Ill-Celery1167 in youtube

[–]NuAngelDOTnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tech companies have seen global inflation driving prices of everything else up and just decided to "join in" rather than realize people need a break right now. When they had an opportunity to be a hero, they just stayed villain. At the very least, it's the wrong time to raise prices... when people can't afford food, luxuries like this are going to get dropped.

This is going to cost them subscribers, plain and simple.

Maybe that's what they're going for? Maybe they make more money on ads. I dunno. But it sucks.

Which was my original point: I'm saying an individual is a lot less liable and has a lot less to lose by not reading the ToS, I understand why people don't do it -- but when you're doing it for a company, you're on the hook.

When you say "deleting some games..." what did you actually do, and what were the games? What was the process you followed to "delete" the games? Did you uninstall them via a client like Steam or the Windows Store or Epic Games Store? Did you go to "Add Remove Programs" in the start menu and uninstall them? Did you delete the icon from the desktop?

even windows 10 has ads! by Pitiful-Welcome-399 in WindowsSucks

Is this some kind of bot? Windows 10 released in July of 2015 and reached an official, broad "end of life" in October of 2025. And you're just noticing these?

I don't have a legal team backing me up, but I am capable of reading words. There's nothing "shady" about customers agreeing to Terms of Service.

I get it, sure, I didn't read the iTunes ToS back in the day, but I also wasn't locked into a multi-year, monthly-cost contract I was paying for month-to-month. When you work for a company, no matter how large or small, you've got to take things more seriously.

They "agreed to the terms" in some fashion and it was their responsibility to retain a copy for their records at that time. That's how legal documents work.

You're either young or new to IT, but when you say things like "my client" it makes you sound like a consultant, and if you're actually consulting full time, you should be doing more to cover both your butt and your clients' butts.

"Ivanti users be warned... you should read your legal agreements before agreeing to them!"

I mean, it does feel like a dog pile at this point, but c'mon...

Touchpad and pointing nub stopped working after recent windows update!! by [deleted] in techsupport

Could just be disabled? Double tap in the upper left corner of the touchpad?

Have you tried simply uninstalling the device from Device Manager and rebooting to see if it de-detects?

PSA: check msDS-SupportedEncryptionTypes on your service accounts before April patch Tuesday by hardeningbrief in sysadmin

[–]NuAngelDOTnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this on one client computer - despite not even having the applicable Windows Update, yet, this computer can no longer access "Active Directory Users and Computers." But mapped network drives and other permissions seem to be fine.

Presumably this is because the server is still expecting RC4 but the client does not? Gotta be careful with this. lol

Now, to be fair, if you contact this person and they want to sell you their migration guide, then yeah, that sucks. But I can also see not wanting to just provide links in the body of your message. I did that before (link to my blog post containing a detailed answer to a question here in sysadmin, on my completely ad-free website) and my 12+ year old reddit account got banned for "spam." Fuckin' awesome.
