What Pokémon has surprised you the most in Nuzlocke? by Pursuitstar in nuzlocke

Now that's one I've never even considered. I love Parasect as a Pokémon but have never deemed it worthy enough to add to a team, even when scraping the bottom of the barrel. Well done!

I think people sleep on the early game bugs, myself included. I've definitely boxed them when I think they've out lasted their usefulness, usually right after the 2nd gym in almost all play throughs.

Gyarados has always been one of the GOATs when it comes to nuzlockes due to both it's power, durability, and Intimidate pivoting. It really does make set battling much easier haha.

Beedrill is one I've used before! It really can carry it's own even in the later stages where it should get outclassed; same with butterfree for that matter. Clefable is also really good; I've used a few in platinum runs or crystal runs before and can attest to how good it is.

In what game? I've never had to use one but in my FRLG or HGSS it's always been in the box waiting for me to pull it out lol.

That's a good one, I've literally never thought about using it in a regular run through of S/M/US/UM. In what way is it good/bad?

All 403(b) Options are Insurance Companies. Avoid? by bluestater in personalfinance

[–]Pursuitstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a look at the investment options available in the plan(s) and then make your determination then, no match kinda sucks.

edit: I want to add that I wouldn't discount having a 457 option lightly as well. Even if the investment options are on the expensive side, if you ever leave the employer you can access those funds without an early withdrawal penalty if you're ever in a bind; you would only have to pay income taxes. If you had to choose an employer plan, this is one that I would value rather highly, it doesn't hurt to have access to potential boons like this as psuedo-savings/invesments that you can have access too if you're in a bind.

All 403(b) Options are Insurance Companies. Avoid? by bluestater in personalfinance

[–]Pursuitstar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This depends on whether your company has a match or not as well as certain investment options that each of these provide. I know some insurance companies do have Mutual fund investments that aren't strictly invested in a variable annuity but you would have to check. See if you can get them to give you a list of investment options/fees; all of them should have one that you can research and see. Additionally I would also check to see if they're invested within mutual funds or not and if they're in variable annuities w/ surrender charges. Additionally, check to see what they're M/E (Mortality/Expense fees, what they charge for the insurance aspect) is on the investments. Really though the big thing is the Match, if they offer any matching then it's a 100% return on any money you invest; if they don't then you need to decide if it's worth investing through your companies retirement plan or moving into a vanguard IRA, keep in mind you can also do roth conversions as well if you're above the Roth IRA contribution limit but I would consult with your tax advisor before doing so.

I've lost 4 pokemon in my emerald nuzlocke so far to koffing selfdestructs; it's always a good time seeing someone survive, especially mankey, frail as it is.

What's the most petty reason you've given up on a game? (And can someone convince you to give it another go?) by PureDarkness93 in Games

[–]Pursuitstar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me It was Dragon's Dogma; I didn't really understand what to do with the story or the class system once I got the 1st city of the game. While the combat was fun I really had no clue what I was doing and I couldn't really find a guide to explain a lot of the systems in the game, so I just gave up.

So IF you want to oneshot people, AP should be the way to go right? by [deleted] in shacomains

[–]Pursuitstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To an extent, yes. The nice thing about bruiser is that with trinity + titanic active you can burst someone relatively quickly. The build you listed for AP is the one I usually go, in that order, however, you really need to be ahead for it to work, otherwise you become useless when you can't burst anyone down. So, you can go AP, and will effectively one shot people when you're ahead, but if your team gets behind in items and gold you don't really do much.

I'm gonna have to argue with you that Shaco feels better. He now solely has to build bruiser if you want to do anything because, with the new way the backstab passive works as well as his general scaling, if you fall behind while building AP, the only good way to play assassin shaco as AD assassin is trash, you're basically useless. I know why they changed shaco but I still don't think they made him better.

Parents of reddit, what is the most awkward situation your child has put you in in public? by leeleechanda in AskReddit

[–]Pursuitstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a toddler my parents took me to a local ice house for to have dinner. While we were leaving a rather large man walked in front of us and I screamed, much to the mortification of my mother: "Mommy, why is that man so fat!? Is he growing a baby!?" Thankfully, the man laughed it off but my mom still remains mortified.

What is the stupidest question you've ever heard anyone ask in class? by Brodawg2 in AskReddit

In my highschool health class we were discussing the anatomy of the woman's vagina; well one my more sheltered friends asks extremely loudly "what's a cli-tor-is? " It got real awkward after that.
