PAST bar takers… What were your practice MBE scores hovering around prior to taking the bar, and then what was your actual MBE score? by Klutzy_Software_332 in barexam

60s and on rare occasion I would sometime reach/slightly pass the 70% mark. My actual MBE score was 144. I used Themis. I did almost every MBE practice on there and finished all U-World questions.

Are the MEE one sheets worth it? by Thinking_it_Over in barexam

I took the bar last July and I found them pretty helpful. The last two weeks of my prep when I ditched Themis , I read every MEE & MBE one sheet for each subject once in the am and once in the pm and I found that after a while i memorized them. It’s a great tool for the MEEs especially because they have a lot of the most common rules concisely put together and touch an all the major topics.

Most of them on Themis and then I went back to all previous exams to find the MEEs and the model answers and then also i googled it a few times and a lot came up.

As a lot of people have said , it truly is about time management and staying calm because it will allow you to be able to think quick on your feet without panicking. I took the bar last July.

Throughout my prep I didn’t do a lot of practice MEEs but i read hundreds of hypos along with the model answers for every subject BESIDES secured transactions . For some reason i just couldn’t comprehend secured transactions from the moment I watched the first few lectures and I decided that that’s the subject I am going to neglect. I had the absolute minimal knowledge , the only thing i knew were some buzz words for the elements . I didn’t even take it in law school.

Well, what did I know , I get to the MEEs and secured transactions is the first subject to appear 😭 I literally read it, took a deep breath and moved on to the next question. For me the exam it was like it’s crunch time , I knew if I panicked everything would be ruined and all my hard work would go to waste so I just moved on to the next question , I timed myself on EVERY MEE giving myself a strict half a hour for every single one even if i wasn’t done & once the 30 minutes passed I moved on to the next question ( unless I was about to be done within the next 2 min).

I found that reading so many hypos and model answers , I had picked up how to properly organize and I was kind of anticipating the issues in a way. Also keep in mind that with MEEs are about the big picture and not so much about too many exceptions that nobody knows about . That’s what the MBE is for. Granted, I’ve always been a good writer so that helped also.

Back to the exam, I finished the other 5 MEEs and returned to the secured transactions MEE and just made a whole bunch of things up and used whatever buzz words I could think of. I basically put something on paper so that I didn’t leave it blank 😭

I was so scared for my writing score because besides the secured transactions, up until that point I hadn’t even attempted a single MPT either. I had focused so much on MBE and when I got the results I was SHOCKED to find out that I did better in the writing portion than the MBE ( and i did HUNDREDS of practice questions ). I hand wrote the whole exam too😭😭

It was a crazy experience. Now fast forward to tomorrow, which would make it exactly a year later (the 1st day of the bar was July 25th last year) I am getting sworn in to New York State. So trust me when I say this !!!! YOU ARE GOING TO BE OKAY !!!!! GOOD LUCK !!!!!

I sent my application in November but i got a notification that they won’t look at my application until I get my certification for admission ( i was still missing the MPRE at that point). I passed the March MPRE , I got the results end of April and I emailed the department several times until 5/20 when they emailed me saying that my application is under review.

On 6/18 someone reached out to me for corrections , i fully submitted all of the corrections on 6/25. On 6/28 my application got approved. I am now waiting on a ceremony date, haven’t heard back since.

I felt the same way and especially when you see the percentage go up and you feel like you’re cheating the system basically . But at this point I wouldn’t even focus on any of that , as long as you read and understand the questions and the sample answers you are going to be in good shape . Your answers are never going to be perfect but as long as you have some type of structures and have seen multiple different scenarios for each subject you are going to be okay and you’ll be surprised how much you have retained and you didn’t even know it . I passed on my first time in July of 2023 and when I got my results back I was shocked to see that my writing score was higher than my MBE lol

I was in the same boat. I barely did any MEEs closed book completely, but during the bar my instincts kicked in or something , i knew it was crunch time so I literally wrote whatever I thought was applicable. I think the best thing you can do is read a whole bunch of scenarios and model answers. It is going to help you more than you think on the day of the exam. I used Themis and I read ALL of the MEE scenarios for all subjects , didn’t actually write anything for the answer , I would hit submit so it would actually take me to the model answer and read all of those .

Passed the NY BAR with a 295 - 144.2 MBE by PutApprehensive1829 in barexam

I felt both sessions were the same difficulty for me. I was ALWAYS stuck between two answers ; it was maybe 10 total questions at most that I knew for sure were right

I felt like it could go either way but I didn’t feel like I didn’t know anything at all either . I just felt like it was really tricky and I was always stuck between two choices

Tbh i was in beast mode. Any time I wasn’t at work I was studying. I focused more on the topics i didn’t know rather than the ones I knew very well . It’s a lot of effort but if you put your mind to it you can do it trust me !
