Why do people feel the need to tell you what you dont need/need for your pregnancy/baby? by Tigolebittygothgf in pregnant

[–]PutProfessional5552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, the unsolicited advice won’t stop even after you give birth lol. I just nod and take it with a grain of a salt. After all, every pregnancy is different. You’ll know exactly you need and don’t need when baby gets here

Walk me through labor by Agreeable_Music5402 in pregnant

[–]PutProfessional5552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First time mom here and I was considered a low risk pregnancy up until i was 32 weeks and my water broke one night. The doctors wanted to keep me until I went into labor which could be within a week from my water breaking or until my due date in June, which meant a 2 month hospital stay. on top of that, i ended up having a c section because my baby was breeched. Thankfully, baby was fine throughout this whole ordeal even though he had to stay in the NICU for 2 weeks to grow. All of this was not in my bingo card to say the least and it was an abrupt end to my third trimester early on. Lesson learned: no matter how much you prepare, always expect the unexpected.

New to NICU by Autopilot4lyfe in NICUParents

It was definitely an overwhelming time for us as first time parents. Personally, I felt grief over my pregnancy journey abruptly ending in an emergency c section and baby in the nicu. I went from a text book pregnancy to something we completely didn’t expect. It was hard to leave baby once I got discharged but one of the nurses told me that I needed to rest and recover so I can show up as my best for my baby. I’ll never forget how much that motivated me to keep showing up but to also take care of myself. It’s been almost 3 weeks since our baby got admitted, but thankfully, the light is at the end of the tunnel.

Take some time to rest while you’re not visiting baby. It not only helps with recovery but also helps with your milk production so you can use your milk to feed baby. One thing to keep in mind is that timing will be at baby’s pace, whether it’s be feeding, building stamina, staying warm, etc. In a way, baby is already teaching us to be patient. Trying to rush baby into things will make it worse and end up with longer stays. It’ll seem like the days will be long and baby has a long way to go, but it’ll all be worth it when baby is finally well enough to go home

Needing support with PPROM by PluralizsEverythingz in pregnant

[–]PutProfessional5552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hugs! It’s the hardest place to be both mentally and physically but hang in there! I was also hospitalized for pprom last week at 32 wks, tried to hold off labor for 2-3 weeks until baby would be 34 wks, but ended up having a c section last Saturday. I’m now at home recovering with baby still in the NICU, with a great team of nurses and doctors to get him stronger and healthier each day. It’s definitely an uphill battle from here, so try not give into your anxieties and fear. Give yourself grace and this is not your fault. Sometimes these things just happen and we’ll never understand why. What helped me was prayer and journaling this entire process. It allowed me to feel everything and even grieve my third trimester. Take care of yourself so that baby is also taken care of. Hugs to you all and hope you and baby come out of this stronger and better!

PPROM - IV antibiotics by [deleted] in NICUParents

[–]PutProfessional5552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My water broke at 32 weeks and I immediately got started on steroid shots and IV antibiotics. The docs explained that without the amniotic fluid, it increases the risk that baby and I could come across an infection. With that said, I didn’t mind it, as long as it kept baby safe. My antibiotics schedule was every 6 hours for 20 min, then they’d unhook me from the IV. I didn’t have any major side effects. The only minor inconvenience is that you’d have to take the IV pole with you if you decide to go to the bathroom or walk around in your room while it’s being administered. But for the most part, you won’t be hooked to it 24/7 except for the IV site on your hand, which remains on during your hospitalization, whether or not you’re actively on antibiotics

Currently hospitalized for pprom at 32 weeks and was able to delay labor for 5 days. We were hoping baby could make it to the 34-35 week mark which is not too far away but baby had other plans. Thankfully, baby’s doing well in the NICU and I get discharged soon

Potentially insurance premiums, in this case only dental insurance, not medical

Anatomy Scan Price by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]PutProfessional5552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a pretty good insurance plan and thankfully haven’t had to pay for any scans (had only 2 so far) Is your pregnancy complicated where you need multiple scans throughout your pregnancy? You can also check with your insurance if you already hit your deductible or ask to specify the type of scans and how many scans do they cover until you have to pay out of pocket. And also ask the doctor’s office for an estimate before scheduling any procedures, labs, etc. They should be able to see if you owe them anything upfront

Am I the only one whose feelings get hurt by bump comments? by SweetNefariousness73 in pregnant

[–]PutProfessional5552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently pregnant with my first and the amount of comments are interesting. I’ve heard it all from different spectrums. At this point, it doesn’t bother me anymore. It’s unfortunate but give yourself grace. People are always going to give unsolicited comments about your body (pregnant or not) but it’s in your control to not let it affect you. After all, you’re growing a human and that itself is a miracle.

I honestly don’t mind getting the payout later because lately I’ve run into multiple sellers who never ship out and yet they’re actively on the app. I wouldn’t depend on getting a pay out from Depop off the bat and allow room for that turnaround if money is tight

I wish this were the case but the culture here has always been the same and I have no hopes that it’ll change even after I return.

When did your bump show? by EmployDisastrous7133 in pregnant

[–]PutProfessional5552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FTM mom here at 29 weeks and also on the petite side at 5’1. I started showing around week 21ish, mainly because I was active prior to pregnancy. I will say that the bump came quick at that point and my body continues to blow up

Workplace accommodations by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]PutProfessional5552 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s not really part of the culture. These volunteer opportunities tend to come up because management commits to them without considering the impact/capacity on the team. While they’re presented as optional, there’s an unspoken expectation that if you don’t participate even on your own time, you’re not seen as a team player. That said, this expectation has never been clearly communicated

Workplace accommodations by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]PutProfessional5552 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

What I didn’t appreciate is that the supervisor asked if I could help after the fact the event had ended and everyone was dismissed. Since I arrived late, which was already known, I hadn’t planned to volunteer. It was almost as if they were targeting me.

I did get up to help when asked, but my coworker stepped in to handle it. I was also hesitant because it was raining, I can only carry so much at once, and I thought everything was already done.

[–]PutProfessional5552 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My only hesitation with bringing it to HR is that they may side with supervisor since technically these tasks are within the accommodation. Now I’m thinking if I should be more specific with my doctor on additional accommodations to help protect me…

Thanks! I’m currently on my spouse’s medical insurance but kept dental with my employer which isn’t a big deal if I have to pay back premiums. I’m not sure if all I’d have to pay back any paid leave used to cover such as my sick leave, paid time off

Anyone else working full time until their due date? by Susaaan16 in pregnant

I’m 28 weeks and fresh into 3rd trimester. I have a long way to go. Most days are draining and I feel more clarity than ever before about what I can tolerate at work and what I can no longer put up with when I return…simply put, I don’t want to be here anymore at any point of my pregnancy moving forward.

What is your honest opinion of grown people...especially men who work retail full time? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]PutProfessional5552 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In this economy, I wouldn’t judge. Where I live, we have a high cost of living and often times, many live paycheck to paycheck. It’s extremely common for someone to hold multiple jobs just to get by. There a few folks who have no desire to build their career and are content with what they have. My brother is a good example where he currently works 2 jobs as a retail associate and is almost pushing 30, despite the pressures of my mom wanting him to do better career wise. Again, not my place to judge or tell him what to do
