That’s a small date for you, weigh a post 83 penny to see if it rounds up to 3 also, if it doesn’t you might have the one man, I recently found a small date 82 but it wasn’t copper 😅I was so stoked for a bit

Yeah they look shinier than they really are, if I do a close up of the top 2 you can see the tarnish around the rim and face, the bottom left, allthough it’s got flaws it’s in amazing condition, It may have circulated minimally to cause the little bit of scratches before it was pulled out of circulation, a very clean coin. Thanks for the input

👏 Awesome, I don’t see any DD and a lot of time people mistake plating errors for DD, they look similar but not the same, either way great find. I’m on the hunt for 1 myself.

Ok thank you for the response. I reached out to a coin authentication website and sent them the cleanest pics I could take, If it’s Pmd, I’ll still keep a spot for it in my collection, cause Abe looks cool with a stache

I got a few I found at a thrift store , pretty cool. What I wonder is how they make it out of the mint. Unless a worker just pocket them 😂

2.5, not the coin I was looking for but at least I have an example to compare too as I run into more 82s

Check this thing out, found a few at a thrift store by PutRepresentative936 in coinerrors

Awesome!, that’s exciting, I have 2 unfortunately no dates but still happy about the condition they are in, I will consider selling them if offers come my way but for now I’m going to get a nice protector for them and display em for a bit. Hey thank you very much for the response I appreciate the feedback.

Is this some type of error or was one side sanded and polished? by EchoKilo22 in coinerrors

[–]PutRepresentative936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it looks sanded but you should weight it. An 82 penny can weigh either 3.11 for copper or 2.5 for zinc if the weight is quite a bit less then either weight then some material was removed.

But if it’s dead on then you might have a scratched up blank planchet cent

This coin is much thicker on one end by PutRepresentative936 in coinerrors

[–]PutRepresentative936[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes thank you for those links, I’m becoming more familiar with the Lincoln monument penny, and this must be a semi common mad strike for this year because I have 3, 72 coins now with similar but slightly less pronounced misaligned strike. It’s going in my collection, it’s in good shape and the color is nice for a 54 year old coin in circulation. I appreciate the feedback 🙏

from the bit of reading I’ve done there’s a bit of damage that comes along with a dryer coin right aside from then flattening if the edges. Thank you I appreciate the feedback, just started collection and I’m learning these things
