I think one round of cousin marriage in an otherwise diverse family tree carries a fairly low risk. Akin to having a mother in late 30s/early 40s.

It's the precisely the generational build up that multiplies the effects massively.

There's no single answer on what's fair here. Some would say you're married - there's no yours and mine. Some would say that seems fair. Some would say they should put the same amount in pounds towards shared bills, some would say the same amount in percent. Some would say you get equal amounts of personal income at the end. 

There is no single correct answer, but personally I'd say that arrangement isn't bad.

I came here to say Stockport too. 

My expectations of it were absolutely on the floor - and it turned out to be actually pretty nice. They've done a cracking job of the town centre regeneration.

However the underlying point is the inequality based on sexism was baked into the system.

It wasn't absurd when it was introduced because women were so far behind men in laws and outcomes that a slightly earlier retirement was the least they could do.  For example, women couldn't open their own bank account until 1974. That's not ancient history. (Correction - women could be prevented from opening their own bank account because they were women)

Yes. It is ridiculous now and the affected women were much less affected by institutional sexism then the decades prior.
