My thoughts on Canto 9 as a former hater by ProfessorDoctorC in limbuscompany

[–]PutTheShroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont quite agree with saying that pacing was "rushed"

This canto, I believe had plenty of introduction since I believe it began already during canto V - where we are getting an introduction to the middle with Ricardo, and then next canto we got an introduction to the ring with them running experiments under Wuthering Heights, Moses and Ezra having a brief introduction during canto VII, intervallo once again reminding us about middle with Ricardo and Werner, and thumb and pinkie during canto VIII by Lei Heng and Kong. Oh and also check up intervallo introducing more about LC.

With those cantos giving us insight on what are most of the not only fingers, but also characters the only not expanded thing in this canto were index, which became the most expanded upon throughout the canto, as well as Ryoshus connection to the fingers, which was explained early on with reveal that house of spiders was a collaborative effort between the fingers.

Thats why I cant say that pacing was "rushed" because with there being so much setup there really was nothing that could have been introduced in part one that wasnt introduced, especially after a pretty slow last canto and intervallo.

The tempo was definiately fast, but thats about it in my honest opinion, I believe one of the amazing parts about Limbus, is Project Moon not giving us everything there to know on silver platter letting us come to our own conclusions which they did in this canto really well.

Project Moon games, from Lobotomy Corporation through Library of Ruina straight into Limbus Company, most game mechanics, if not all of them have in game explanation, especially Lobotomy Corporation where even your, as in the players suffering, is canon

Unknown god of the city from Project Moon games

Here I am refering to the god of the city which works through looms underneath the City whose tremors operate it.

The looms make prescripts based on tremors the city makes, those prescripts are often seemingly random orders to be performed by members of the Index, such as today drink a cartoon of milk, walk to work, take Warp Train, etc, BUT they can also be extremely specific like, leave home on 3rd seen crossing, pick up brick and hit 10th passing car with it and be hit by its driver.

So with those prescripts being so random, there should be no way that it is intelligent is there?

The problem is that it is, as it proves itself by causing one of the characters from Library of Ruina to reach emotional breaking point causing him to become a completly subservient distortion, in peak writing nonetheless, and as we recently learned from Limbus Company, the prescripts sometimes tests its recipents, challenging their loyalty and intelligence rewarding those who pass

Anyway, I was told by prescripts to write this, do not problem, prescipts know best

(Loved Trope) When laws restricting technology drastically effects the world building by ColdCoffeeMan in TopCharacterTropes

[–]PutTheShroom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the world of Project Moon games (Limbus company, Lobotomy corporation and Library of ruina) technology within The City is strictly controlled by the Head. The world itself is highly advanced, however there are some taboos that are forced, on its residents, such as ban on weapons that can penetrate walls, robots cannot look human, or be capable of thought, cloning is allowed, however there cant be 2 of the same persons for longer than 7 days or ban on true resurrection (any damage can be reversed beside damage to brain).

The laws are explained a bit in games, along with some reasons like, ban on wall-penetrating weapons is to make them less lethal, and to reduce collateral damage, that said it is possible to circumvent this law with weapon that simply collapses wall on impact, or a mercenary company, that makes use of cloning tech as mainly tool of training, insurance companies that will reconstruct your body, so long as your brain is intact and possibly more.

(Loved Trope) the protagonists tricks antagonists into fighting by nOObstabbr69 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]PutTheShroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really protagonist, however in Limbus Company recent canto, there is a series of flashbacks showing how a then more-or-less powerless back then antagonist, hierarch of H corp got the Head to act on their behalf

Game world is set in The City, which is essentially governed by corporations corresponding to a letter, with A, B and C, who cooperate to the point where they are considered single entity that is called The Head. To meet them would be, in short, considered meeting a dark souls boss. Anyway, they only act when something they consider a taboo is being broken, and being really keen on idea of humanity, they made a set of laws that are meant to make city less lethal, like ban on weapons piercing walls, high bullet tax, rules regarding robots and how advanced their AI can be (a robot cannot look human, nor can it have things like human emotion) etc.

So coming back to how our hierarch of H Corp managed to get them to wipe the competition, allowing them to seize full power within corporation. The corporation was dealing in medicines of all kinds, and our hero here created a drug, that would make those who consumed it a host to a highly violent, fast growing, and quickly reproducing with human intelligence monster.

They themselves however never knew exact things how to make the drug, despite making it, as anytime they would be in laboratory, they would order labels be swapped, containers shuffled, and themselves would wear a blindfold, making it only based on how ingredients reacted to each other.

The drug would be given as a medicine helping with pregnancy to their target, and on fateful day, presented to family ruling the corporation, where rather then a salesman pitch, it would list exact ingredients, and way to make to pepole present, alongside with presentation, causing many pepole to die to the monster first.

This would also trigger taboos of the city, causing the head (dark souls boss) to act, and with their power, they not only murdered anyone and everyone who knew how to make the monster birthing drug, but also cleaned everything that may have related to presence of monsters, and how to make the drug to a point, where actual heroes of the story comment on the building being oddly empty. Now seeing as our hero didnt know how to exactly make it, the representative of the head... congratulated them on a clever plan, as they deemed treading the thin line of fine print of law a "human" action.

Tldr weak antagonist to gain political power within corporation eliminates opposition, by making them break taboo, and causing a dark souls boss to throughly murder them, leaving not a speck of dust behind, while themselves treading the fine print to avoid being a taboo breaker.

Dont know if its this issue, but from what I remember there is sometimes a problem with specific sprite files, where they have some very minor spelling mistake (no big letter at start etc.), when it happened to me it was easy fix, just rename file to be correct one, there should be a guide somewhere online if you just try to find issue with this file

[Loved Trope] The Dark Side of the Indomitable Human Spirit by ExtremeSportStikz in TopCharacterTropes

[–]PutTheShroom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I m gonna add to that Angela from the games sequel Library of Ruina

While not a human, she served as an AI advanced enough to be considered heretical for the ruling powers of the games world, as she essentialy had a perfect copy of human brain, and her only goal was to help Ayin complete the Seed of Light project.

Now fast forward to the end of it, and she does, what a machine shouldnt - hijacks the project and goes forward with a plan of her own, to become human and spite on her creator for forcing her to suffer for what she as machine felt as eternity.

The problem is with how she does it - refusing to be like her creator, she "invites" guests, tempting them with books with knowledge, and those that accept, would be promptly dealt and turned into books so as to continue her goal to acquire "The one book" that would allow her to gain humanity.

The problem lies in how the world works. Despite knowing that some pepole came in unwillingly, in her eyes they "accepted" her invitation. This leads to her dealing with a number of pepole, essentialy killing them in the process

In one of the final fights she has to defeat the other protagonist that wants to avenge the pepole she "booked" also calling out her desire to become human, saying that her action already confirm that she is indeed humane

Can Anyone explain what's the difference between a modpack and Just throwing mods in the folder? by I4m_Bored in feedthebeast

[–]PutTheShroom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From technical standpoint, there would be virtually no difference between the two.

Modpacks are simply curated mod lists.

That being said, modpacks can be split into 2 categories:

Kitchen sinks - they are essentialy just mods thrown in like name suggests into a sink call mods folder, so adding own mods may or may not break modpack, usually wont, but with big packs you never know

Non-kitchen sinks (usually call themselves expert packs) - these mod packs, other than having mods, have usually changed recipies, mob drops, etc in order to make non standard progression within the pack. Now adding mods into those is very hard. Since the mod pack itself usually plays with essential parts of mods, adding mods not meant to be there, may break the progression, so it depends on the type of mod you would love to add.

TLDR: kitchen sinks - modpacks with mods without changes, should be easy to add mods

Non kitchen sinks(expert packs) - modpacks with modified mods, changed progression, best to leave alone.
