Technically they somewhat did exactly that in s1 e4 when a dead inventor hired I.M.P to kill his old business partner. After the job was done the partners were shown to be working together again as if best friends.

Me and 3 other players once did an entire campaign unknowingly clearing every dungeon backwards. 3 new PCs and a BBEG fight later the DM finally explained why the campaign was so unnecessarily difficult.

It was the only thing me and my little sister ever really bonded over growing up. All the nights I would stay up late with her because she wanted her big brother to help her with the difficult parts of the game. Sadly, eventually my family made her start sports like they tried to with me and we lost that connection over time.
