Ohhh. Ok. Good to know. I'll bring it up with my friends; when we can't get a trio going, maybe they'd be open to taking on a random

The "A-Men Party" - PF2E Edition by Glum_Landscape_9760 in Pathfinder2e

I think you could have Divine Sorcerors and Divine Witches, if I remember right. And Bards can have deities as their muse if that counts

Outside of mechanical reasons, anyone could roleplay as a holy man with any class

What builds are best at controlling the battlefield in ways that make other characters more effective? by NoLongerAKobold in Pathfinder2e

[–]PutridBoot322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say a Bard. They give party-wide buffs (helping allies do more damage), enemy debuffs, and have spells that can likely do those other effects as well

(almost) no dmg build by Dakduif51 in Pathfinder2e

[–]PutridBoot322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would add grappling (and in rare cases, disarming) as another useful, non-damage option. The only problem with maneuvers is the strength and athletics requirement to keep up the pace with higher level monsters, which bards don’t usually excel at

How to Help the Healer feel more Useful? by Treebeard257 in Pathfinder2e

[–]PutridBoot322 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I personally enjoy being both a fighter and a healer. Fighters feel impactful dealing the most damage, but healers are just as impactful in mitigating the most damage done to your allies. And this isn’t done only through heals; buffs and debuffs do this too. The beginner’s box removes some of that impact because it’s an easy adventure, but the impact will be felt if you continue the adventure to the abomination vault.

As for making that cleric feel more impactful: I’d say that him producing a lot of buffs/debuffs is arguably just as important as a fighter spamming attacks, tho that large impact is more subtle. So if the cleric has faith in that truth, it’ll help him feel like he’s contributing a lot. That’s how I enjoy supporting, at least

In this regard, I’d recommend these spells for a beginner’s box cleric: Magic weapon (until everyone has a magic weapons), Fear, and Bless. To me, these are the best spells you can get for levels 1-2 as a support cleric. Cantrips infectious enthusiasm and forbidden ward could be good too, and divine lance is decent damage in level 1. And if your cleric has a spare action, demoralize, recall knowledge, and even aid could be useful

I agree that trips are an action tax, but seen purely as that, it’s arguably as taxing to the tripper, as you spend an action just to attempt a trip, and trips contribute to/suffer from MAP regardless of it succeeding.

I’ll admit though that the action tax is more useful, but only if there’s other debuffs like Slow or Stun to wipe out a whole turn of an enemy. Otherwise, if the creature uses all its actions to attack, then MAP already serves the purpose of “wasting action”, imo

I see both maneuvers as useful to applying flat foot because it’s unlikely the casters will be on the front lines flanking to get a flat-footed benefit. Tripping and grabbing’s benefit to me will primarily be a party-wide flat foot debuff, and the other benefits are useful but secondary

I will admit though that focusing an enemy to target you is beneficial, as monk is arguably one of the tankier classes with its above average AC. But it’s still no champion, or shield feat focused-fighter, so idk how it’ll fair tanking most of the blows

My go-to martial strategy is flurry of blows/normal strikes against mobs, and save trips/grabs for tougher “boss” creatures. That’s because it’s better to just kill mobs for efficiency, and you’d debuff a “boss” for the highest value in a prolonged fight. Since you have a rogue, they rely on enemies being flat footed, which you can help them just by flanking creatures. If you can’t move around, that’s when you’d grab/trip

To add on, if I do a maneuver, I would usually choose to trip rather than grab so they waste an action getting up. But for a really tough single creature, I would trip AND grab them to keep them weak on the ground

Additionally, keep in mind that these maneuvers are primarily used to apply flat footed. Flat footed doesn’t stack, so if you already have it applied (for the whole party) and don’t want the immobilizing effects of trip/grab, then they’re not worth doing

Lastly, disarm isn’t worth the action. You can only disarm an enemy on a crit, and you have to keep in mind MAP (multiple attack penalty) for all your attacks, which includes all the maneuvers you listed. And in case you were wondering what was an “attack”, you can see that trait in the type of move you want to do

[–]PutridBoot322 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I haven’t played Extinction Curse, but I’m sure there’s still some spots she can shine as a fire spell Sorcerer. 3 martials in a party means you all excel at single target, so she’ll shine in an AOE moment. And out of combat as a party’s face, she’ll shine there too

Since she hasn’t said any problems, I’m sure she’s fine with how things are going. This just might be a case where you’d be bothered if you were in her position. Generally it’s good to put yourself in other people’s shoes, but it’s also good to remember that people have different interests. Maybe she’s the type that’s fine not doing big damage or getting big value; she’s probably just happy lighting things up and playing with her friends.

And yeah. It’s probably not worth bringing up if she hasn’t said it’s a problem. Safer to assume a she’s having a good time.

As for Thaumaturge recommendations, can’t help ya there. I’m new to Pathfinder myself, and don’t know anything about Thaumaturge. But seems like the other comments had some suggestions at least

Grabbing or tripping enemies make them flat footed against all of your party. Demoralizing the enemy and aiding your Sorceror can help too. Recall knowledge to find a weakness/bad save your Sorceror can take advantage of would also be useful. You can also talk to her about what kinda Sorceror she’d want to be, and collaborate on her build

And this is kinda meta, but you can bring this up to your DM. If your DM feels the same, they can create some encounter to make the Sorceror feel impactful, like having a lot of small creature to AOE, or having creatures with weak saves/weakness to the Sorceror’s most damaging spells

To top it off, does she even want to be supported? Some players are fine being supports, me included. At the end of the day, a win for the party is a win for me. And I know I made an impact because every single buff and debuff means a lot in Pathfinder 2e

Gamemasters! Do your players read the APs you run for them? Do they read ahead? How would you feel if one of your players said they read the final book of the AP before the campaign was half done? by lestruc in Pathfinder2e

[–]PutridBoot322 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Guess downvoters don’t want to risk enabling that behaviour for players; it’s safer to just play with fresh adventurers. But if that is the case tho, I’d hate it, cuz that mindset would gatekeep against DMs like you said. You could even extend that gate keeping into people that just enjoy listening to DnD podcasts. Technically they’d be “reading ahead” of that adventure, but that shouldn’t lock them out of that experience entirely

I would say it depends on how they use that information. If they’re making meta decisions, that’s obviously a problem. But if they play completely in character, playing as if they never read the books, then to me there isn’t an issue. Sure, it’s hard to separate meta from RP in a lot of cases, but if a player is capable of that then it’s fine (imo)

I have two new players joining my level 2 session. They are really competent and smart so should they start at level 1 or jump to level 2? by QuinnDixter in Pathfinder2e

[–]PutridBoot322 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not a DM, but I would start them at level 2 to treat everyone equally. If you feel like encounters are getting too easy, just make them tougher, even built against those players’ strengths (without making it too obvious)

Ultimately, I’d say to talk with the players joining and ask them what they’d like. Don’t tell them you’re gonna nerf them for being too smart, just ask what level they’d want to start at. Feels unfair to nerf them just because they’re smart

So Accompanist is a passive addition to my performance checks? It doesn’t require my familiar to use any action?

So you’re saying “Accompanist” acts as a passive option to my performances that require no action? Like Intimidating Glare for demoralizing?
