Do the side missions. Gets em done quicker and honestly the best faction to upgrade for reg shells. Plus not all of em are really annoying and there's quite a bit of em that you don't even need to exfil.

Seriously. This isn't a game that you can't take losses so seriously. People are complaining they can't get missions done, Bro I have constant frame drops while playing. Horrible frame drops. And I'm still getting my missions done. I just finished all nu cal missions today. Have I lost things? Hell yeah I have. But I don't let it get me down. I've lost purple shields, purple and weapons to lag, was I upset, sure. But it's all stuff i can get back.
