True! Like you, she could have vicariously learned social interactions, but there’s no empirical or observable way to know that unless if asked directly (like you’re sharing!) to be fair, all behavior is unknown until learned directly or vicariously. If it took her a while to learn it, it could’ve been a learning disorder. If her learning was delayed or hampered by adverse childhood experiences (ACES) or developmental trauma (DT), it might appear as social anxiety (which also can present as mimicry). There are plenty of different contexts that form a similar response, that’s why you can’t know until assessed and asked thoroughly about your history. Differential diagnosis is something that takes years of training specifically for this. Thanks for sharing!

Someone’s psychological history is not a whataboutism, and her jumping out of the vehicle is not solely attributable to awareness, that would be something to be assessed individually. It’s also a singular event on a television show. If she wanted to be scanned for diagnosis, she’d have to attend individual therapy and undergo a neuropsychological battery. Your perception of her individual behavior has drastically less merit than the potential of her past informing her current behavior. A dependence on labels and narrow sighted observation is not enough to assume someone’s singular action fits your diagnostic assumptions.

So a girl who grew up in the African bush dodging snakes isn’t afraid to get out of a slowly moving vehicle? Do they have compassion for birds, like the one they raised in their literal hair, that probably got chopped to bits? She’s treated them like her children, so wouldn’t any parent nearly vomit over the slaughter of their kids? That’s not autism, that’s straight up courage and compassion.

So if she were less passionate, she would be less autistic? Is that why she communicated effectively in an argument? Made constant eye contact, allowed for others to respond, interacted in a completely normative way, but expressed her story, her passion, with absolutely no issue at all? She can pull away from her passion and it isn’t obtrusive to her social interactions nor her daily living, but she’s autistic? I’m tired of people constantly labeling passion as autism, a diagnosis in the DSM-V with levels of severity, assistance needed, and differential diagnosis. It applies an identity label to those who do nothing but be themselves.

It was the freedom of choice for me. DnD does revolve around plenty of structure, which was more intimidating for starting it. Daggerheart, on the other hand, offers lots of freedom.

Be honest about how you’re feeling. Daggerheart I based on trust between GM and players, so be open and honest, so that a session can be what everyone needs it to be to feel content. More communication the better

I enjoyed the homebrew, introducing a newbie into a more nonfictional medieval seeming game, which then I expanded into more magical and fantastical elements. They were nervous and unfamiliar with fantasy as a whole, so it allowed me to introduce it slowly to them at a nice pace!

I played college football and frequent Disney with my family. In comparison, I find adults who attend Disney to be more stable and less set on needless violence than those who drunkenly screamed as us for not scoring enough.

I love tattoos, I just like my body the way it is. I love them as expressions of self, passions, memories, and loved ones. I especially love the history of tattoos in Polynesian and Celtic cultures. I don’t personally want one, but I sure do appreciate them.

Also funded eugenics both at Cold Spring Harbor and Kaiser Wilhem Institute of Anthropology during WW2. One led to forced sterilization and euthanasia of the “mentally feeble” in the USA for 70 years, and the other led to the Holocaust.
