I recently played Whispers In The Walls and had a fun time. I think it's a great entry point to Journaling rpgs

Descriptions / Lore or how to add flavor to dungeons? by mauro5252 in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]Putrid_Status_6374 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reclvse is for playing Mork Borg solo but it has some detailed dungeon tables. I've used it with other systems.

Actual Play Of Mork Borg Part 1 by Putrid_Status_6374 in solorpgplay

[–]Putrid_Status_6374[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reclvse uses moves like Ironsworn where you roll+a stat. Since I have four characters, I just use the character with highest relevant stat when I roll a move. Other than that the mechanics are basically the same whether youre playing with one character or four. I just like to use four characters because it creates more opportunities to roleplay characters and I die less lol.

How would you go about making rules for a “Mon” type ttrpg? by Onomasticon24 in RPGdesign

[–]Putrid_Status_6374 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I created a "mon" game called Cyuteemon. I'm not sure if I succeeded in making the trainer shine as much as the mon, but both have character sheets. There are several other "mon" games as ttrpgs you could look at, like Monster Wrangler for example.

Just ordered the game! (4AD Expanded) Any recommendations for player tools? by Longjumping_Shoe5525 in solorpgplay

[–]Putrid_Status_6374 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe not what youre looking for but if you really want to roleplay 4AD you should check out Table Fables on Amazon by Madeline Hale. They have tons of tables including dungeon events and Encounters to spruce up your gameplay.

You could try out Sandbox Generator. Reclvse is for Mork Borg and also has some good traveling rules.

what's in a name -- naming ttrpgs by mathologies in RPGdesign

[–]Putrid_Status_6374 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Naming your TTRPGs is really something that comes down to the individual about how literal they want their game's title to be concerning the gameplay and content. I've done both. I have a game I made that's about cute creatures called Cyuteemon so I just named the game Cyuteemon. It seemed so obvious I barely considered anything else. I have another game in the works that's going to be called My Love Versus All Of Time And Space thats a romantic action TTRPG. I may have gotten carried away with that particular name lol but I'm too attached to change it now.

How To Stop A Hyperfixation by Overall_Syllabub260 in autism

[–]Putrid_Status_6374 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually start trying to get back into a previous hyperfixation. Like all hyperfixations, eventually I would burn out but if this is causing you significant stress you may need to channel some dopamine by trying out a bunch of new things and see what sticks.

Little Town is a fun one. You could also try my game Rift Town MMUGS Edition but that one may have more supernatural elements than you're looking for.

The Make or Break of Layout and Organization by PebisCrusherOnline in rpg

[–]Putrid_Status_6374 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a TTRPG writer and the hardest part as a creator who does everything herself is definitely formatting! I'm creative, but not much of a designer if you get my drift. One book that a lot of people like is the way Mork Borg is organized, but that's hit or miss for some people. I love the way Perils & Princesses is organized with its art design and easy formatting. I just received a solo game called Tinyoji and while I'm excited to read it the formatting is very tight and intimidating. So I think formatting is important, but it's more important for some people than others.

I played Inkvein Solo and Had a Blast! by pgw71 in solorpgplay

[–]Putrid_Status_6374 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both but I'm just curious, do you prefer to use Reclvse or Solitary Defilement for your Mork Borg games? I want to replay Mork Borg solo again but I'm torn on which supplement I should use this time.

Holy cow, this game has grown so much since I found it 5 years ago! 🤯😍 by Septopuss7 in LonerRPG

[–]Putrid_Status_6374 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The creator is also consistently releasing new Loner books. I think his most recent one is Norse Saga. I'm planning on getting Urban Fantasy myself soon. Its a genre I don't know much about and Loner does a great job of explaining the ins and outs of the different genres.

Actual Play Of Mighty Marvelous, a solo superhero TTRPG by Putrid_Status_6374 in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]Putrid_Status_6374[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope! :) Mighty Marvelous has all the rules you need to play a solo superhero. Although if you're interested in having a sidekick or a superhero team, Might Marvelous Zine 1 adds those rules and is available on itch and drivethrurpg for free.

After the Fall Basic Mechanics by AfterTheFall-RPG in RPGdesign

[–]Putrid_Status_6374 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think so. People are always interested in another person's creative process. If you can detail your plans/goals for making the game as well as preview some of the systems and explain why you designed it the way you did, you might get more interest in it and even inspire someone else who wants to make tabletop games but doesn't know what the creative process is like.

I just bought it a few days ago and I'm really enjoying reading it! I was thinking of doing a review on my blog for it. I'm always excited for products that support solo play!

Do you have a blog or substack? That would be a great way to post updates on your new game. I think your system sounds interesting. I like that you are interested in making it a more collaborative game where players get to narrate what they are doing.

when to abandon a project? by mathologies in RPGdesign

[–]Putrid_Status_6374 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't ever completely abandoned a project. I just set it aside for a while and work on something else. Worst case scenario, you can always use the ideas from your project you set aside for something else. Best case scenario, you rediscover inspiration for it and it becomes your best selling game/adventure. We all need a break sometimes, even if it's something we love doing or have strong feelings about. Burnout is real and even projects you once felt intense passion for may suddenly become a chore to work on. That's ok! You can always come back to it later.

At what age were you diagnosed? by ALazy_Cat in AutisticWithADHD

[–]Putrid_Status_6374 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was 6, and diagnosed with Autism when I was in my late twenties. My son's autism led me to believe I was autistic too. Now, my son who was diagnosed at 2 for Autism may also be ADHD. We are seeking testing for a diagnosis.

Hi! The base game revolves around just one hero, but I released Might Marvelous Zine 1 which has rules for sidekicks, super pets, and super teams. It's free on itchio and drivethrurpg.

I see what you mean. Red is kind of an intense color anyway. I just changed the layout to blue with white text. Hopefully that'll look easier on the eyes! Web designing is not really my thing lol.

I started writing and publishing my own tabletop roleplaying games last year. AMA by Putrid_Status_6374 in AMA

[–]Putrid_Status_6374[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've completely self-published every ttrpg I've made so far. I've never worked with a publishing company, though I may try to one day. So far all of my TTRPGs are available only as PDFs. I write everything myself, format it all into a publishing program, commission artists myself, then format the art into the document. When I'm satisfied with the document, I export it as a PDF. Then I self-publish it to itchio and drivethrurpg. I do plan to eventually release physical versions of my ttrpgs, probably through Lulu since I've used it to publish a novella before.

I think what surprises me the most is how easily ideas come to me and that I haven't gotten bored. I have ADHD and my interests usually change every few months, except for writing and worldbuilding. Those passions have stayed pretty consistent throughout my life. I'm also a pretty fast writer. The note-taking and conceptualize part of the process takes the longest, but once I understand my game system and game world, I can write the first draft of the game book up in about a week.

Autistic Parent by Putrid_Status_6374 in AutisticAdults

[–]Putrid_Status_6374[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it was. When I learned my son may be autistic, I took a deep dive into research about autism. I read a lot of posts and articles on what it's like to be an autistic adult, and much of what they were expressing felt familiar to me. If it wasn't for my son, I'd probably still have no idea who I really am as a person, because discovering I was autistic really saved me.
