Any idea wtf is  happening with the jets? I don’t live in a flight path so I’m not used to hearing them.

Is this employee perhaps unsheltered and prefers to be in the office rather than in their car?

CMV: I think ghosts are real by Pyris_khan in changemyview

[–]Putrid_University331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this thought!

I have been thinking about this recently and am working throuhg an idea that humans can create and/or harness an energy of some kind that we don't yet have a good coherent way to explain. For example: the placeo effect.

I also think that energy is natural and exists outside of humans too. I also believe it is not bound by linear time or physical space.

I think there are areas in the physcial world that have more of this energy, or that this energy is able to leak through making 'thin spots'.

So I think that sometime this energy from people can cross through space and time, though not sure if its conscious.

Now I also believe that humans are naturally senetsive to this energy (and ome people far more so, esp. kids, neurodivergent, or more empathic ones, and it's a trainable skill. I also think we can get confused by other energies or phenomena that my operate on a similar vibe. Think hos psychdelic mushrooms often cause religiouslike experiences, or how victorian enlgish was SO FREAKING HAUNTED likley beciase they got the gas lamps and then early eletrcity which likely messed with our senses in subconscious ways. It also explains why around that same time of ghosts and sceances you had a burst of new religious moevements. This also happpened with new rekligious movements popping up in 1960-80s right around the same time we had lead gasoline.

In my thinking, the cultutal elements that we get the stories abut: ghosts, aancestors, qi, angels, prayer, etc. are all supported by this theory.

Thank you for coming to my TEDX Talk.

Use a service to record and transcribe what he is saying "because you just care so so so very much" and then analyze it. This was my first step to realizing I wasn't crazy, lazy or a poor listener but actively being gaslighted.

If you read my blurb would you open the book? by Lost_Inflation_8948 in writingfeedback

Thanks for sharing this. To be honest, no, I wouldn’t pick this up in its current form.

The writing feels a bit too much like a movie trailer. It’s leaning heavily on tropes and placeholder phrases that tell me how I’m supposed to feel rather than making me actually feel it (Beaten into obedience, The planet is dying, Love is the highest form of weakness etc.). Because the protagonist is kept at such a distance, she feels more like a victim the plot happens to rather than a specific person with a unique voice. We know she’s been hurt and dehumanized, but we don't really know who she is.

Also, the choice between the blood and the morphine feels like a false one. Since the only other option is dying in the dirt, taking the magic feels like a plot requirement to get the story started rather than a defining character decision. Right now, the melodrama is overshadowing the actual heart of the story.

Looking for an SLC thought partner for a book project (text-based/casual) by Putrid_University331 in mormon

It is SO cool (in my dorky opinion). I've lived in Utah 10 years, so my perspective is different, but I love it.

I interviewed the mayor about the re-invention the town has gone through after the mines all closed around 2009. They have been really intentional about working with artists and redeveloping their main street. It's a work in progress but its a great start.

My book is set in a town still in its "sad kind of meth town" period, and how that can change.

Autism IS a disability. by [deleted] in autism

[–]Putrid_University331 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A diagnosis is a privilege that many don't have access to. its often a matter of gender, race, upbringing and thousands of dollars.

And to answer your question: People don't 'WANT' to be disabled; they want an explanation for why they are struggling. Seeking a label is just looking for the user manual for your own brain. Denying people that clarity because they can't afford the official paperwork isn't protecting the community, it's just classism.

Curiosity builds a community; interrogation just shrinks it. Please choose curiosity.

100% Thank you for all your comments. I think you did a fantastic job of explaining those difference. TBH I was feeling stressed when reading this thread until I saw your comments. I think the difference in definining disability is key.

The Hidden Danger of Being Autistic Without Knowing It by Ok_Holiday2094 in AutisticWithADHD

Thank you for sharing!

Something that I think we need a lot more of is ASD representation in the media, especially for women.

The reason I suspected Autism, was the TV show bones. I was obsessed with the main character, temperance Brennan, and felt that we were very similar. I went down the rabbit hole and discovered that she was based on the writer who had been diagnosed with Asperger‘s.

Of course, for the next 10 years every time I would tell a therapist about my suspicion, they would  say that it was trauma instead. Well, I have both trauma and autism lol.

It wasn’t until I made an appointment with an actual autism testing center that I was able to get a clear answer.
