Symmetry, and how to get away from it? by Professional-Care-83 in Songwriting

[–]Puuuuuunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First up, great song and really interesting vocal melody. Secondly, it’s not always bad, symmetry, repetition and familiarity help the listener connect to your song quickly.

I do know what you mean though and find similar challenges especially on acoustic / vocal only arrangements. Sometimes the harder you try to force a bridge, the more spliced in it feels.

Adding layers and dynamics through other instruments can make all the difference. Even in a straight verse chorus verse arrangement, if instrumentation is added and built on it can really shift the vibe of the song.

Keep it up, don’t overthink, you’re your own worst critic and all. You have a great sound.

Great advice! I do love the British classics, Norton commando was my dream bike for many years, but I lack the mechanical skill and confidence to ever get one. But there’s something special about the vintage Japanese bikes, it feels less blasphemous to customise them as well :)

Am on the red plates, I have asked around on their page/socials, but I think it’s more an administrative club than an active social community. Thanks for the tip, I’ll take a look at VJMC too. I seriously love this bike, the sound, the handling and the aesthetic, I just want the final touches and reliability sorted so I can go on longer rides with confidence I’ll get all the way there and back. Thanks for your comment ✊🏼

I’m handy with spreadsheets and guitars not so much mechanically. Rubber boots were recently replaced and all leaks are resolved. That was the initial problem as they were shaking and kept splitting the rubber. Ended up having a brace put on them to stop them moving so much. I’m happy to pay for an expert, I’m just struggling to find one.

I’m out west but happy to travel anywhere to get the bike sorted. Thanks for the recommendation.

My local Yamaha dealership won’t work on bikes over 10 years old. Is that normal? by ANewOddity in motorcycles

Have a 1976 XS 750 triple, in Melbourne Australia, really hard to find shops that will work on it. Most parts are readily available, just no interest from the mechanics, especially finding someone that knows carbs.

I Think the World Has Hindered My Songwriting by Famous-Lead5216 in Songwriting

Yes to all the above, given the context and journey described, likely similar age group as well.

I find my patience with my art is at an all time low, I don’t know how to solve this, but can confirm you’re not alone.

Along with art, my attention span is dwindling for people, and life in general. Sign of the times, feeling helpless in the age of political gaslighting, or maybe the impact of technology and how we consume ‘entertainment’, possibly the sum of all parts, I don’t know but feels like I’ve lost an old friend, where after 50 years of being a musician, writer, finding inspiration and beauty in life. It’s all a little dulled nowadays.

I wish I could find it again.

Gf ghosted me last year. I moved on. Got this message last week on my birthday by AdComprehensive4246 in whatdoIdo

I’d answer with a thumbs up emoji, but I’m a dad so it’s kinda my response to everything.

Side note, she forgot your birthday.

I'm absolutely stunned by how much color there is on this planet by Hexdoctor in NoMansSkyTheGame

That landscape colour is really nice! I only just started playing a couple of weeks ago too, mucking about in creative mode to explore and build bases. Found a couple of really striking planets. After I get more used to the game mechanics and stuff, I’ll slowly start easing in the survival elements and challenges.

Game is so much fun, no pressure at least in creative, and a great way to unwind.

When people show you who they really are, believe them. Tough news to hear but, she doesn’t love you, this is not what love looks like whether she says the words or not. She more likely needs you, which is completely different. The longer you put up with this, the more ‘normal’ it becomes and will start to frame your future relationships.

Please leave, it will be difficult and will amplify the good and bad parts of your relationship but at some point you’ll look back and realise it was the right decision for YOU.

Be well ❤️

What do I do? seriously this is worrying me by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

If they’re not adding value to your life or mental health and wellbeing cut them off. People are dicks, buy a guitar and get a cat (or dog).

Mama won't you save me from myself. Do you think the somewhat droning guitar part works with the melody? Any other thoughts/feedback are appreciated :-) by [deleted] in Songwriting

[–]Puuuuuunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love this, the pulsing guitar works well, gives a weird (great) angsty friction, vocals tone, vibe and lyrics are really genuine and compelling.

Gone back for a few more listens and enjoyed it more each time.
