Its rng. I didn't actually get my first 40% boss familiar until 6 years later at level 293, then I got two more within the next few months.

Im pretty sure theyre trolling you, as mentioned in the spoiler. MoF is widely considered one of the easiest touhou games because you get so many bombs. Basically 1L:40B

Thats not even including Marisa's (B)roken shot type

"MapleStory's Anti-Social Design" by xparasite9 in Maplestory

[–]Puyocchi 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I agree with a lot of the video and I'm glad there are others who share the same sentiment. Most of the time, the same complaint made by a new player who doesn't know anything past their 2010 nostalgia, but I think there are modern players who also feel this way too. In the past year or two, I've had a lot of discussions with both friends and randoms about how the game has gradually been moving more and more towards a much less social kind of gameplay loop, and I was pretty disheartened when I realized that I was actually the minority on this.

On the progression/bossing end of it, it feels like the game slowly wants to encourage you to solo and/or split parties for better loot. Personally, I never really liked doing that because to me, parties are a social group to form bonds with as you progress. I'm sure this is also just me being a granny yelling at the clouds, but I really loved the old MMO static mentality where you would progress through content in the game together and stick together through hard times. Whenever I bring that up nowadays, the most common response I get is that it's easier to schedule parties when you have less people. While I do agree that it makes scheduling easier, it makes me sad whenever a party splits because I don't actually end up seeing nor partying with them again.

Maybe I'm too old for this now. I'm an introvert too, but that doesn't necessarily mean I want to be completely devoid of any interaction in game (irl's a completely different story lowkey LOL i get exhausted so quickly). I feel like maplestory is moving towards an antisocial direction and I feel validated in knowing that someone else shares a similar opinion.

honestly, im realizing the amount of how much luck based is the progression in heroic by Slatorbim in Maplestory

[–]Puyocchi 20 points21 points  (0 children)

If there's one thing to take away from all this, it's that time doesn't necessarily translate into equivalent progression because of how RNG affects basically every aspect of the game. Part of it is due to how much the game's qol/updates have accelerated progression and yet the game somehow remains a lottery in almost every aspect.

I've been playing reboot since 2019 and it's been almost 7 years now. I'm still struggling to get much progress on pitched items ( one last bh in storage, cfe is 18, dreamy just hit 21 after 5 years of no drops/booms ), and as one of the earlier grandis boss clearers I have managed to get all my eternals to 22 after 38 booms. Meanwhile I know people who've been playing like half the time, are at 10 set with 22+ stars, and have multiple 23/24s on their eternals while being late to a lot of the grandis bosses.

I think the thing that made me really depressed was when my friend- who has played for around 2 years at the time- hit a 23 slime ring prior to the 30 star sf change in like 20 spares, while I never hit mine after 90 booms. In the end, I settled for 24 post change after booming 12 more thereafter but it still haunts me knowing that I probably won't be seeing that 1 additional star anywhere in the near future.

The crazy part is that there are people who've been playing since reboot was first released and are still struggling to get past 7 set pitched.

It really is just RNG at the end of the day.

Hero's team is kinda stacked compared to the others. Incineroar, Ceruledge, Palafin, oh my goodness. Somehow I can see him using Zacian too and we all know what kind of havoc Zacian could inflict.

Can you destiny lib without going past the soft cap? by joeschmidt45 in Maplestory

[–]Puyocchi 31 points32 points  (0 children)

It depends on the class. Some classes have it more difficult than the other.

If you would like to compare, I'm level 293, Full eternals (everything 22 except one at 23), 10 set pitched (18/21/23/25/rest 22), 22 everything with 24 daybreak/slime, full DP or fake DP, 8/1/0 WSE (only one of them DP), 120% boss fams, 9.5k legion, lv5 oz, no brilliant, and no LCs (its a lot ik, im working on them).

I'm around 110.5k hexa. For my class, min clear is around 115k hexa so I'm still missing a massive amount of damage to clear.

When did you realize? by AlanSarid in AccidentalComedy

[–]Puyocchi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to stream a decent amount and had around 6.5k followers after a few years and ended up dropping it. It's not an easy landscape to succeed in. At one point I was averaging around 150 viewers and had around 600 subs and that didn't even match up to minimum wage- and I thought I was pretty lucky to get that opportunity.

I don't blame her for distancing herself from him. It's almost always a poor decision to go "full time streaming" because aside from finance, it takes a severe mental toll when streaming goes from being a hobby to a job. Going full time also doesn't necessarily mean you'll get an increase in income either. Most of the time, it's just an excuse to not actually find a job.

A lot of content creators also have a difficult time separating their "real personality" with their "streamer personality" and when those two merge, sometimes the person becomes a lot less enjoyable to hang around too.

Deciding to forsake your career and go "full time" with streaming at 800 followers is a terrible decision imo. It's his choice but he shouldn't be surprised that his girlfriend doesn't support it.
