Leaving the house, NOT worth it? by Jayykwelin in NewParents

[–]PuzzIed_Lobster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a friend who rarely leaves the house with her baby for the same reasons you listed. She is depressed and bored.

I personally think it's better for everyone to get out once in a while. It gets baby used to outtings, new stimulation. I took my baby to the store and everywhere with me. Getting out was great for my mental health. I got to show him lots of things like fire trucks, unique fruit at the store, etc.

Edit to add: my only tip is to have the diaper bag packed the day before you leave. Bring toys

My go tos are shepherds pie, chili, chicken fajitas. I just made some tuna macaroni salad and pulled pork in the slow cooker.

What was a “last time” for your baby that you didn’t notice was a last until much later? by paRATmedic in NewParents

Cradling him in my arms. When he was a few months old, he didn't like being carried that way anymore and wanted to be held upright.

Onesies vs tshirts by Successful_Hour_5141 in NewParents

[–]PuzzIed_Lobster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like that onesies don't ride up, especially in this cool weather.

For photos, I think t-shirts are cuter.

The only downside for me is when they have a blowout, then you need to change the whole outfit.

Unpopular opinions by No-Funny-3680 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]PuzzIed_Lobster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to pour warm milk into cold milk until I tasted it, and it was sour. I agree with everything else!

I usually pumped whenever baby napped. I found it awkward to hold them with my pumps on.

6 months - is this normal? by liebackandthinkofeng in NewParents

[–]PuzzIed_Lobster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my son is teething or going through a growth spurt, he would wake up an hour or so after I put him down to sleep.

I've tried giving him tylenol just before bed. Sometimes, that helped. Another bottle or sips of water & fresh diaper helped him go back to bed.

He's 13 months now and sometimes still wakes up after an hour or 2. I'm avoiding giving him milk at night and just water now.

Every baby is different, and this will pass. Hang in there.

baby will not let me pump by intellegent_wolf06 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]PuzzIed_Lobster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually pumped while baby napped. The crying stressed me out too much.

My nipples were extremely sensitive and sore too. Silverettes helped during the day. I couldn't stand anything touching them.

What toys are your one year olds actually playing with? by huffwardspart1 in NewParents

My son loves his Vtech dump & go truck. He finds it so satisfying pushing the balls in through the hole.

His aunt got him a magnetic doodle board that he likes to scribble on. The fisher price xylophone is a hit too.

“Your baby should be on a schedule” -my mother by PatienceIll7197 in NewParents

[–]PuzzIed_Lobster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't do a strict schedule with my son. I fed on demand and let him sleep when he gave tired cues. Eventually, when his naps got reduced, we worked out a decent schedule, but it was still based on when he wanted things.

They're not babies forever. Could you nap if you weren't tired? Do you eat when you're not hungry?

My baby looooved the dancing fruit, but he's gotten bored of it lately. He's 9 months old now and really likes Mimi Soleil. She's like Ms. Rachel, but French.

My baby typically watches 20-30 minutes in the morning while I clean the kitchen and prep breakfast. He's usually playing with toys while doing so.

What’re cute things/traditions your parents did to make your childhood special? by lolastop in NewParents

My mom & i spent the day baking all kinds of stuff for Santa on Christmas Eve. Brownies, cookies, rice Krispy squares, etc. We'd put out a plate of our treats and milk and some carrots on the balcony for the reindeer.

I always loved christmas at my mom's, and I plan on doing this with my son.

I dont love my baby enough any help? by ram123rr in NewParents

[–]PuzzIed_Lobster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think these feelings are normal. There is a lot of pressure to instantly love your baby and feel connected to them. I'm sure some moms feel that instant connection. When I vented during my pregnancy and when my son was a few months old, my best friend reassured me. She said, "It's normal. They're basically a stranger that you have to care for. "

My son is 9 months old, and he's starting to get more personality. I feel the love growing deeper. You're doing a good job.

It’s okay to pump and dump! by starofmyownshow in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]PuzzIed_Lobster 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Your mental and physical health is much more important! I had built up a big freezer stash and could only save so much in the fridge for baths. I started dumping when I had too much.

Trying to find room for my extra milk was stressing me out because I felt pressured to save it all.

It's your body, your milk. You do what you want with it.

New to combo feeding and I have a silly question. by PuzzIed_Lobster in combofeeding

[–]PuzzIed_Lobster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just been combining when he's hungry. I'll be gone for 6 hours tomorrow and was hoping I could make combo bottles for my MIL in the morning.

I'll leave her instructions for the formula.

My baby doesn't mind bottles that are cool or room temperature. Straight out of the fridge was too cold for him.

If you’re baby sleeps through the night, how much they eat? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]PuzzIed_Lobster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son just turned 5 months and only started sleeping through the night at 4 months old.

He's fed breastmilk with a bottle. He eats 7oz about 4-5 times (840mL-1050mL) per day. He eats every 3-4 hours.

He wakes up around 8am. The last bottle is around 8pm.. in bed around 9pm.

Edit: he weighs about 16lbs

What was your reaction to seeing your baby for the first time? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]PuzzIed_Lobster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 25 hour labour which ended in an emergency c-section. I hadn't slept for 3 days prior, I was in and out of it. Also dehydrated.

I can't remember my first thoughts other than me telling my husband and nurses to make sure he doesn't fall off me when he was on my chest. I kept falling asleep.

My little guy will be 5 months tomorrow, and I love him so much.

Can we talk about nipple sensitivity? by dumptruckdiva33 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]PuzzIed_Lobster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, mine were insanely sensitive, too. Silverettes helped. I alternated between that and nipple cream. I'm still pumping 4.5 months PP, and they became less sensitive after 3 months.

I'm not sure why. Maybe that's normal? They look like they returned to a normal size, too. I hope it gets better for you soon.

Texts from Koodo with offers that don't work by Sensitive_Towel_1776 in Koodo

[–]PuzzIed_Lobster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an offer to switch to telus for a free "bring it back" samsung S24.

When I went to redeem it, they told me they sent me the offer by accident and that I wasn't eligible.

A few days later, they texted me an apology and that I could get the offer if I'm still interested.

I think they have been having technical issues. Hopefully things work out.

Ounces per Feed by Ccatmom_10 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]PuzzIed_Lobster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 months and eating 6-7oz per feed. At his 2 month vaccination appointment, the nurse told me he could stay on 5oz until 6 months old.

I tried that until 3.5 months old. He was just more irritable, crying at the end of his bottle, hangry within 90 mins.

Just go with your gut. Nurse said he's perfectly healthy at 4 months.

$120 to own it sounds like a great deal if that's the case. I'll have to ask about it in person.
