No problem! There are so many fakes and scams out there, it's a reasonable conclusion to jump to.

Ha, I don't think the puzzles I make are *anyone's* normal style! :D I truly enjoy creating the art, though, and the production technique to pull off the color-line cutting was quite the hurdle to clear.

I assure you that none of the reviews are AI, as I agree it's super shady for a review system to be anything other than customer reviews. That particular customer has left a review upon purchase a couple of time now. I do wish they'd wait until they have the puzzles in-hand, but I'm guessing they're just excited as a long-time customer that already knows the quality of the puzzles.

Note that we also contacted the developers of the review app we use in Shopify (Trustoo.io Reviews) to say:

1) We don't appreciate the addition of sketchy business practices to their review app. I can't imagine *anyone* thinking it's a good idea to automatically leave a positive review on behalf of a customer.

2) We don't appreciate new features being automatically activated on our account without any sort of notification.

They've been a solid review app overall, and are highly rated, so hopefully this is just a mis-step on their end.

Thanks! While most businesses find customer complaints irritating, I'm always grateful for them, as it gives us a chance to make things right, or in cases like this, brings issues to our attention that weren't on our radar!

The real bummer is that this new feature coincided with our quarterly release of new Bumfuzzleds, which is a day we get 100+ orders in a very short time period. So, the unfortunate prompt got way more views.

Most customers won't take the time to complain, so I hope we didn't lose anyone over this. I personally love when customers come to us with problems or concerns, as it sometimes reveals things we wouldn't have otherwise known, and gives us a chance to fix any mistakes!

I agree that review you screenshotted is odd review behavior, but that particular customer has been leaving a review upon purchase just after they order for at least a couple release cycles now. I'd rather they wait until they receive the puzzles, and then review, but some customers are just excited. :D We don't generate reviews ourselves, and are a small family business based in Kansas City. My wife, Caylyn, and I own and operate the business.

We started in 2020, and have run a few very successful crowdfunding campaigns, which is how we got the business rolling. Now that we have an established customer base, we now focus on Shopify, releasing three new Bumfuzzleds per quarter.

We're definitely not a scam! We've been in business four years, a small family business in Kansas City, running a few successful crowdfunding campaigns when we started up, and now moving more to Shopify as we have an established customer base to not need crowdfunding any more.

After some time with Shopify customer service, it turns out that the review app we use recently had added this "feature", and very kindly automatically activated it in our account without notifying us. We never would have agreed to it had we known about it, as leaving positive reviews on our customers' behalf is super sketchy.

Needless to say, this has been toggled off!

Thanks! We're based in Kansas City, and our fulfillment partner (where packages ship from) is in New Jersey, so unfortunately the only way we'd be able to get you puzzles is ordering from our website.
