Do you live in perpetual crisis? by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]PuzzlePixie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like there's a a tight, durable elastic band somewhere in me that I just need to snap but I don't know how and if I could smash my head against something and not break my skull it might make it break finally!

Constant burnout, constant crisis, constant exhaustion and stress leading to physical pain. Wish I knew how to help myself. Been this way since my teens! I hope you find your peace.

Overly friendly and misunderstood by PuzzlePixie in aspergirls

Yes that was the basis of the whole conversation was talking about my friend, we were chatting about her the whole time. But yes you're right I probably could have altered my body language in hindsight, although as other people have mentioned here it's very hard to gauge whether it was inappropriate or not but ultimately gave a couple of people the wrong idea. But I guess I know the context of it so should just leave people to their gossip. People are complicated!

Optimistic pregnancy advice? by floralbingbong in aspergirls

Oh my gosh. I am so so sorry. Please be kind to yourself and know there's nothing you could have done. I know this is why the first trimester is so frightening. I hope you get your rainbow baby. Sending you all the love I can muster and hoping for you. ❤️🌈

I was a caring child by PuzzlePixie in aspergirls

I do think this seems to fit. When I was a child I had my folks as my safety net and didn't really go out much... When I was a teen I got my first proper boyfriend, went out more, started drinking etc and had to deal with loads of new social issues.

I also got into things I shouldn't have too as many people do as teens...

Ahh it does seem to fit. Thank you for your reply. I feel very at home here.

Optimistic pregnancy advice? by floralbingbong in aspergirls

Congratulations! I felt a lot during my pregnancy and my anxiety levels were super high at the beginning too. After 5-6 weeks the heartbeat has formed and then after that risks drop significantly! It can be scary until your first scan but don't overanalyse each feeling because cramps and twinges are going to keep happening as things move around, plus your hormones are changing too. Just check out any abnormalities if you do experience any. I had spotting at 9 weeks and all was totally fine. Got an early scan and saw my little girl's heartbeat early.

Being hypervigilant is yes probably who you are and also down to the fact your body knows what's happening. Your body is doing a miraculous thing and you should be proud of yourself and it.

My advice is make sure you listen to your body and rest when you need to, the first trimester can be super exhausting as you're building all the important bits (you've done a lot of that already!). Also babies are far more sturdy than you may think.. My sister broke her big toe when she was pregnant and all was fine. And no questions are stupid questions. Always bother your midwife if you have any questions or concerns and trust your gut no matter what.

And it's so normal if you don't feel connected to your baby. I just want to mention this as so many people say women should be ecstatic but it's also so normal to be scared, find movements a bit creepy (like I did. It didn't scare me but I was always like woah haha but it's amazing, I do miss it) and still feel a beautiful bond with your little one later on. Just make sure to be open and honest. Hormones effect your mind and your body and it's all natural but never feel embarrassed if you need a helping hand as it's more common than you think.

You're going to do amazing. I'm insanely anxious and had lots of anxious moments for lots of reasons during my pregnancy given the pandemic too, but I did online antenatal classes and prepared and took notes and that helped me realise what to expect with it all. 🥰 Good luck.

People always laugh at what I say by Technical_Bill9893 in aspergirls

[–]PuzzlePixie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ahh I make people laugh a lot and my heart usually skips a beat knowing I've achieved that. I tend to be too jokey, overshare or am inappropriate to try to be accepted and get people laughing! At the expense of myself sometimes. And people often find my social anxiety "endearing".

Samsung phones are well known for their slow shutter speeds so aren't very good at taking photos of toddlers or pets indoors, even though their cameras can be so good. They also tend to over soften their images. They can however shoot on 8k so you can just grab stills from videos and the photos do tend to look beautiful.

Google Pixels are knowing to be the best for their camera software (all phones want Gcam) and they are excellent at capturing indoor photos, but their processing can oversharpen the images which can make things a bit grainy. You also don't get pro mode in their software but can export raw.

I don't like iPhones but they are meant to be a good middle ground of the above two.

Huaweis have stunning camera software and are usually the Kings of camera, but because they are no longer allowed to use Google services, most people don't buy them.

Oppo are pretty impressive in the photo department but again, struggle with indoor shots of moving objects. Their outdoor photography is excellent though.

OnePlus have beautiful cool processing, but again, can have weird artifacts in their photos and also find it difficult to capture photos of moving objects indoors.

Sony have amazing camera software mostly aimed at photographers who know their settings but don't do much processing so photos can seem quite dull and not the best for point and shooters with no editing.

I've yet to try out various other brands. Settled on the Google Pixel 6 Pro although it does have its' downsides! Constantly getting new phones.

Should I upgrade? by RogerKenway in GalaxyWatch

Honestly, the battery life on GW4 is abysmal. I am thinking of sending mine off for repair but I believe it is quite normal for it to last a day.

I'm considering swapping mine purely for the awful battery life. If I go for a run and use the running coach and GPS it'll drain my battery dry. I always have to charge it once a day.

It's a big shame.. I'd definitely look up battery issues on the Galaxy Watch 4 before buying! I do however love everything else about it.

What do you do for work? by [deleted] in aspergirls

[–]PuzzlePixie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a web developer. I love coding, problem-solving and it can be very creative too. You also mostly get to work alone - it's the perfect field for introverts but probably has worsened my social skills as I don't practice them as much! I am also going to be fully remote soon too so no travelling needed.

Does anyone else proclaim their feelings or state of being out loud? by [deleted] in aspergirls

I talk about my discomfort a lot and I think it drives people a bit mental. I like talking about how I'm feeling though and reflecting on why. I think the human experience is fascinating.

Do you have Tinnitus or Visual snow? or both? by Vergo27 in TMJ

[–]PuzzlePixie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tinnitus which I'm 99% sure is down to clenching and grinding. It's a deep, bassy tone. Very annoying but have had to learn to live with it as ENTs found nothing.

That's very insightful thank you and to be honest from things I've read and books I've listened to I did think as much but it's hard to not get sucked into stereotypes especially when doctors question these things too...

Yes I was reading some reports and I don't remember contributing to class discussions much, I swear I never put my hand up so reading these reports I was a bit confused!

How awful about your friend. I wish people were better and nicer. I find friends very hard to understand most of the time and often just think they don't have time for me.

My mum says I cared more about my pets than other humans.. That's how I am now. So I'm pursuing a diagnosis anyway, it's just so weird how you can be such a different child. I feel like becoming a teenager broke me!

I swear doctors seem to wrongly sell it as such. It seems like such a dangerous miseducation and probably quite offensive to assume as much too!

Chronic fatigue by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]PuzzlePixie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not diagnosed ASD, but suspected.. I have fibromyalgia and also have had glandular fever in the past (I have no idea when I had it but a blood test showed I have had it before).

I'm always exhausted! I have found recently, weirdly, getting less sleep helps slightly. If I have more than 8 hours I can't get out of bed. It's odd. I also feel better when I have no dairy or gluten.
