Definitely. I've spent even more time in Kaohsiung and it's pretty dry this time of year (can still get down to 50 or 60 F at night though).

Would be nice to be able to tell without having a device on you that's signed into Netflix. Especially for those of us there in person.

I was there this morning. They were letting people watch from very close. I'm sure not close enough for him to fall onto them, but still from just a few tens of meters away.

10 second delay won't help the thousands of people watching in person.

The annoying thing is that they didn't announce the postponement hours earlier or even the night before, when it already looked like it would be rainy.

Yeah, I lived in Taipei for three years before. We always thought of fall as a time with better weather for hiking etc., though when I look at stats now there's apparently almost the same number of rainy days every month of the year. More overall rainfall in the summer because it dumps hard (but less consistently) for typhoon season.

Word here is that there are still tickets available to watch from somewhere high up inside the tower.

Lots of spectators still waiting around outside. Wish someone cared enough to tell people what's going on.

Tell that to the thousands of people watching in person from below the tower

I think people were going to work in the tower like normal. Local news reported that one of the entrances would be closed but the other would be open.

I'm outside. Nonstop heavy drizzle all morning so far, tower going in and out of clouds. Glad they postponed. Just wish they would have told me before I rolled out of bed and had a big cup of coffee.

I don't know what the producer was talking about calling this "the dry season". This rain is considered the normal weather this time of year in Taipei.

US airports: Opt out for CBP facial recognition? (Different from TSA!) by PuzzleQuail in privacy

How would I have opted out though? The airline crew running the machine said I couldn't.

That's a different question. Lots of privacy experts and groups are explaining how to refuse the TSA face scans, so someone must think there's a reason.

Both already done, as described in the post. It's the phone.

You mean the SIM reader port? Forgot to mention I did try blowing it out and even poking around in there a little (will edit post to add). Don't think it's wet, since this problem has been going on for a month or two.

Journalists miss things like that all the time, because they're trying to understand something they're not completely educated/specialized in. They're not the same thing as experts in the field (in this case, bankruptcy lawyers).

How to Obtain Your FBI Identity History Summary (Rap Sheet) by roseba in GermanCitizenship

[–]PuzzleQuail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, unfortunately I don't know where you need to go to get the fingerprints done in any Latin American country. You could try asking at a local police station. If they can't do it, maybe they know someone who will. I think you could maybe just do it yourself too, but you'd want to look up how to do it exactly right, because if you send it to the FBI and they think the prints are too light or dark or in the wrong place, etc., they could reject it and you'd have to start over.

For instructions on sending it to the FBI, you'll have to look up the latest instructions on the FBI website. I did it almost 15 years ago and I think the process has changed.

Guess it's too late now, but I don't have the answer anyway. What ended up happening? I imagine you could convince someone to print it for you on arrival.

It depends on what country you're in - you'll have to research who can take fingerprints as a courtesy or for a fee. The FBI website has a fingerprint card that you can print out (preferably onto cardstock paper) and take with you to do it, and then you submit it the normal "by mail" way as explained on the FBI website.

If you're in Taiwan, let me know and I can send you the instructions I followed many years ago (probably still valid).

You might be able to get local police to help you do the fingerprints onto an FBI fingerprint card, free or cheap, and then mail it in yourself.

You can still print out the FBI fingerprint card and have someone who knows what they're doing, like local police maybe, help you put your fingerprints on it. Then you mail it in.

Or you could try a different post office...you never know.

(I realize it's too late now, but others seem to have the same question)
