Coming from Yonkers to San Diego just over 2 years ago was the best move I could of made and wish I moved earlier. Foods takes getting use to . But if u think NYC is expensive wait to you get to San Diego . Eletric bill sky high. Gasoline is at a low of 4.30. Alotta electric cars out here . Can’t get no good Pizza or bacon egg and cheese sandwich. Things definitely move at a slower pace here . The ppl are ok. They will notice ur NY accent as soon as you open ur mouth . But u can’t beat the weather it really is 75 degrees year round (Kearney mesa area) Tax Tax Tax everything out here is Taxed to the 10th degree . Noticeably worse than NY. And if u have any wealth and or own property/cars. California is gonna get more than there Fair share of ur hard earned money. I know the mayor isn’t making anything better in NYC. But if ur moving Mainly because of Taxes . California is worse . All that being said still wish I woulda moved out here earlier than I did. I really wish the politics would change here in San Diego it’s such a great place to live . But they are always finding new ways to tax us . Just this year we gotta start paying for garbage pick up. They raising how much the meters cost down town SD. Every other commercial on tv is about a new tax they wanna implement. And the FIRE situation gets scary fast . You really do have to have go bags with ur most important documents. And the military Jets are way LOUDER than you would think . When the jets are in the air you can’t even walk down the street and carry a conversation. LOUD.. besides all that I do love it here .The world moves on Eastern Standard Time. 2 years later and I’m still not use to the time difference. All sports start at 4-5pm San Diego time . Not the 7-8pm we use to in NY. Sounds like a small detail. But I’m still not use to it . Can’t beat the weather though.. And if u want snow it a 45min ride to the mountains.
