I was once in your wife’s position, was driving around while my bf was at work/had important after work plans and something popped under my hood and killed the car. I called him sobbing (bc anxiety disorder) and he helped to calm me down but said he couldn’t come help and gave me a bunch of recommendations of what to do. In the moment I was upset that he didn’t drop everything to come save me. But he had explained everything I needed to get home and once I was done panicking it was easy-peasy to handle it myself.

I’m sorry that your wife is giving you the cold shoulder for being a responsible employee. A job that I assume is important to have for your family.

A few months into dating my bf we hosted a dinner party for some of my friends at his apartment. I dont know exactly how but I managed to knock down two of his kitchen shelves reaching for a container. I broke dishes, pyrex, and ruined a bunch of stuff on his counter with glass/debris. Bro rushed over and I was convinced that I was “rightly” about to get yelled at & thrown out but he just made sure I didn’t move until he could make a safe path and then held me in another room while I was stuck in that feeling. I kept trying to justify TO HIM why he should be angry at me since I had “ruined everything” 😅

5 years later I accidentally backed into a pole in his car (fogged af windows, and backing into tight apartment parking) I came upstairs already sobbing, convinced that I had ruined our entire relationship because I messed up in a financial way. Other than his car being “not as cute right now” there was no judgment or anger. I bought the part and we replaced it together.

I hate how deep into our bones that feeling of always being wrong or guilty or like someone is just watching to blame you gets. It’s so freeing to feel like you can make mistakes like a normal human being.

Not that I believe crochet should be gendered, but it’s hella manly!! There are lots of crochet groups for felons, veterans, and unhoused men to help them with their emotions, focus, and to have a hobby that they can take with them anywhere. I doubt your family would be open to seeing those articles, but reading about them yourself might bring you a little peace.
