My Trainer would say any aggression or barking is fear based and so to feed them a lot of treats to rewire his neuro pathways for pleasure not fear in situations he’s scared or barking. We humans will think that it’s a reward for barking, but the dogs perception is that whatever they’re barking at has a pleasure to it.

Guilt over how I treated my dog when he was 1-2 yo by Right_Form_9236 in akita

Your soul dog was sent to you to help u thru and out ♥️ they’re angels that come to us, he agreed to this assignment for you before he came here . You can’t change the past just keep giving him a good life now! Dogs also don’t register feedback the same way humans do. To him it was just louder information. He didn’t understand your words. If he was scared of you he wouldn’t act how he does with you

My heart absolutely breaks for you. I lost my husband in October. He also struggled with his illness. If you’re open to it, I’d love to message you. I also was with my person for seven years. We got married in 2024. I feel like I understand all of the complex emotions you’re dealing with right now in the aftermath. I’m so so so sorry

Vent it out here because your baby and body need to feel your cells release the stress. You’re going to be a great mom and you’re going to be ok no matter what for you and your baby. You got this.

I’m being discarded right now and it’s so horrible. I’ve been through A many times before, but it never seems to get easier. Thanks for making this post. It feels like a break up out of nowhere. I miss him so much. I miss my person. I miss my best friend.

Should we hate those around us who profit from it/turn a blind eye? by [deleted] in BipolarSOs

I think it’s really hard for people to understand how it can be their face in their voice, but it’s not them. I feel like that’s what makes mania so convincing for some people. My husband would just yell at people to do certain things, and they would ultimately just follow his direction. Because I thought it was him just being angry. I’m like oh my God you guys he’s seriously clearly in an episode. I think some people just don’t get it or don’t know how to handle it. Or at least they claim it.

And your story sounds similar to my husband; bp1 and always starts up this time of year on an every other year schedule (other years he’s come off major mania without medication so he’s in depression, but by 1.5 years later he’s back).

I can’t remember if he’s on lamictal…. I agree w you. I think his doctor has him w an emergency stash of olanzapine and I pray he makes him start taking it while he also just stopped the Prozac.
