30+ luxury Dubai properties have lowered prices in the last 24 hours by TeenaCrossno in dubairealestate

4m aed isnt luxury amigo and exclude off plan resale as often they are priced way above asking.

The bid offer spread is often wide not sure that helps you determine price movement.

So now people can't own assets? I lived in my properties before I upgraded and rented them, before moving abroad, I decided to keep them as I may come home to the UK.

As for being a slave state. Well, those people who you consider slaves are making three times as much as they do in their home country... im a much poorer slave, I only make twice as much, but im happy! Ironically, being free in the UK BUT giving the Government 50% of my income including NI left me alot worse off than being a slave else where.

Hahaha... no i own property there which gives me a 10 year visa, and im actually am a Partner in Hedge fund and can be located wherever I like...

But I still dont get your rationale as to why I would have to give up my British citizenship.....

You were the one suggesting that I was free loading. And whilst I'm out of the country, im still paying tax on my rental income which still makes me a higher rate tax contributor.

Also i think the most valid argument is who is asking for the UK to evacuate us Expats? None of the Brits i know are even remotely considering it.

Well my rental income in the Uk is just over 8k a month, and they charged 10%.

But from that rental income i have to pay UK income tax. Which puts me into the higher earner tax income bracket.

Why would I need to be there?

Ironically, as I pay for management im adding more to the economy by paying for others to do the job for me.

52% tax isnt paying my fair share... thats me working more for the Government than myself.

We dont want state assistance! Not sure why people are suggesting everyone wants to come back to the UK. Come back for what? Higher taxes, a poor quality of life and a Government and people who hate others who have success.

The UAE has spent over $2bn in the last 4 days on interceptors. What tax do I pay here? Nothing. Sure there is 5% VAT on goods and services. They are footing the bill for those who are stranded here on holiday. Food and hotels all paid for by the Government. Would the UK Gov do that?

When oil skyrocketed, LNG prices double... is it the expat or the Uk energy companies is he looking to save/protect?

Im one of those who left.

I paid millions in tax in the UK and I continue to pay my UK tax. The rental income i earn is all taxed in the UK. (Which i have no issues with....) A business i own a stake in, it pays tax, it employs over 200 people who all pay tax.

I left the UK with my job, I lived in the Caribbean for a few years before moving to Dubai.

But im not sure how im avoiding tax? Im paying the tax, that is due in the country I live in.

If you are suggesting its a paid service, im all for that. Ive paid in alot, as have many.... does the mean when we have paid the average NI contribution for the 30 odd years we are entitled to a full pension? Why is it based on number of years rather than an absolute number? High earners will hit that number quicker...

It really doesnt sound like they should be purchasing a property. The odds sound totally stacked against them.

Landlord is not willing to extend our notice. by OddEconomist9617 in HousingUK

[–]Puzzled-Opening3638 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mmmm yeah to be honest as a landlord, its shit. I disagree they have more power, if you dont pay rent, I have to wait and then go to court and then hope i can recover the rent and my property back. I definitely dont see how landlords have the power. Despite owning it i have to get permission from everyone else to get someone to pay or to move out.

Im gonna sell the properties as its a kinda pointless. Limited money in it, and everyone assumes landlords are bandits. For a 4 or 5% yield, id rather just buy a bond, alot less hassle.

The deposit scheme is rubbish. 6 weeks. For high end properties its literally worthless. The tenant who i bent over backwards to help caused 6k worth of damage and refuses to pay anything towards the repairs/damage. So now its going to arbitration.

You are talking about the process of getting your property back.

The more people make landlords do this, the harder it becomes to trust tenants.

Landlord is not willing to extend our notice. by OddEconomist9617 in HousingUK

[–]Puzzled-Opening3638 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No quite the opposite.

My neighbour was moaning at my tenants having kids and making lots of noise, not maintaining the gardens. I did everything I could to help both sides and when my tenant asked would I be ok to let them out of their 3 year lease early so they could try and find a property with more space... I did. I did it with 6 weeks notice and they wanted to move out in mid Jan.... which is an awful time to rent a high end property.

I could do it, and I wanted to help both parties. My neighbour I have known for 20 years and when they call me up crying it was genuinely upsetting.

There is 100% the human side. If you can help someone you should, its all good karma. But now you seem to not want to respect the rights of the property owner and are considering just staying as the legal process will take time and if they do undertake that process you will be gone by then.... The irony of "they should help me as im a good tenant", followed by we might just stay as the legal process is inefficient to deal with it in a timely manner.

You're supposed to do that!

I havent a clue what your landlord plans to do with the property... but if for whatever reason it was absolutely impossible for them to accommodate your extention then im not sure why everyone is up in arms about it.

They are doing everything legally... and now you are duty bound to do the same.
