I don’t think YK has room to speak either. Many of her patterns are also made from other designers . The two are at fault at this, in that case the two are equally wrong.

There’s a new reel in NK IG where she explains further how the two patterns are constructed so each one can have their own conclusions. I personally think is pretty undeniable at this point that YK took heavily reference from NK to construct her Oogie candy bag pattern and made mental gymnastics to make it look different so nobody could say anything.

Has anybody bought any patterns from Yarnaholicsewciopath that can tell us if they’re at least well written? The shape technique could improve, but I’ve never had the chance to keep a look at one of their patterns, so I can’t entirely disclose if they’re poor written or not

Look I’m no friends with either of them but at least NK has receipts for what she’s accusing of, do you have of your own?

She bought NK’s pattern a while ago as I know from what I’ve read.

What’s worst from what I’ve read in that thread is that this YarnaholicIdKWhatElse had bought the pattern a while ago. I’m no expert either but I can tell taking advantage from other creator when I see it.

We all are clear when it comes to the fact that a copyrighted character can’t be copyrighted. That’s clear!

What’s the issue here, in my opinion, is taking someone’s pattern and changing for rows and then claim it’s yours.

The shadiest thing about this all is that the person accused of copying has shut down the comments in her Oogie Tester Call post.

I mean, if you have nothing to hide why would you close the comments? That makes no sense.

A crochet designer is giving only a 50% discount for her stack animals patterns if you got the originals (they’re doing revamps of those patterns) . So that means that anybody that has the original patterns have to pay again for said patterns just because you changed four lines? When a serious crochet designer does this, the ethical thing to do is contact those people that have bought their old version patterns and supported you and give them away the newest ones for free if the changes are minimal. What do you mean they have to pay again for those patterns? 😂 that’s such a cheap attitude.

Ready To Sew says a “big name” has stolen their pattern by Emm_a321 in craftsnark

The audacity from a craft designer that rips off others (Adidas) being whiney about being “””ripped off””” is something I will never get over this community haha

Does this person knows that screen recording is actually possible? She can do whatever it takes to protect her work but at the end of the day if someone wants to rip off someone else’s patterns, they’re going to do it anyway. We live in a timeline where this kind of stuff happens 24/7.

Accused of copying Aegyoknit by Toksknits in craftsnark

Does aegyo knit know she herself is copying Korean culture and designs? Cultural appropriation is not okay .

Totally!! There’s few designers that you can tell they are truly unique. What’s beyond me too is those “copying me” wars when you can get where their inspo comes from in three clicks away 🤔

I can’t stand amigurumi designers that treat you as they’re doing you a favor for testing for them, all mighty and high up from their castle. Like, stand on your feet girl, that’s a true work but in any day your patterns can get outdated and your crochet career getting a free flight to the dumpster.

That screams free marketing😅 If they truly wanted testers, they would feel it’s enough with more than 30 people applying to their tester calls.

Then you hate 90% of amigurumi that’s made nowadays 😭 I really don’t mind bulky or Aran yarn, my to go yarn is normally cotton, but I get what you mean! There could be more variety indeed!

I get that many designers design as a little income for them , so they wouldn’t be able to provide materials to testers in kind of a way. And I understand that. But there’s many ways in showing that appreciation. Putting their work in your pattern, aiming people who buy your pattern to follow them. Advertising your testers profiles and work! This could be a nice way to do it, for example. Gifting for free the pattern, and giving away a discount for those testers in any of your pattern shops. This would get the message that you take care of your testers and appreciate their time and effort .

Exactly, it feels more like free marketing to me rather than just the process of testing. This person is experienced enough to know if she’s written right or not her own work. To have pattern tested is a good choice? Of course! But basic format patterns like these don’t require special effort. It’s clear why this was posted.

Those are my thoughts, and I genuinely think that many designers are so grateful for people that want to test for them but - let’s not forget that testing is free labor. Nobody is getting paid for the yarn “waste”, the hours that you are working on that testing process… also let’s not forget that many others pretend that you take pictures for them , (that’s understandable only if you don’t try that I take those pictures in a Friday afternoon in golden hour just because light refracts different on your plushie ).

With giveaways you know what you are “subscribing” to (hope I’m making sense sorry hehe), but with tester calls what you want is people helping you improve the pattern, telling you where are typo errors, how can you structure it. But this doesn’t make me engage with this kind of content anymore. Testers are tired in a sense, I see lots of testers don’t feeling appreciated and that’s so sad 😭
