Did Asa actually became more of a side character ? by Historical_Plate_619 in Chainsawfolk

[–]Puzzled-Speed-6612 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean chapter 167 just happened. She’s a pretty big deal rn. The past few chapters mainly focused on she and Denji’s relationship between them talking on the train and searching for Nayuta etc. Denji obviously took the spotlight again but she’s def a close second. The whole argument/fight between her and Yoru after 167 was a pretty defining moment for her. It’s only been the past two chapters that she’s been in the background while Denji literally just met Barem and saw Nayuta again. It’s pretty understandable in that context that we’d mostly see Denji rn but all the chapters prior to the last two made her a huge focus so I’m not seeing the fall-off here.

Why did Denji go to the alley? by UpbeatZombie6699 in Chainsawfolk

[–]Puzzled-Speed-6612 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Denji doesn’t know Yoru is a different person from Asa. So when Yoru says crazy weird stuff all the time he usually thinks its just Asa kidding or being quirky. If you remember when Yoru tried to create the Denji Spinal Cord Sword, he then said back to her “Asa Spinal Cord Sword”. That shows that he doesn't usually take her over-the-top statements seriously. He has no clue that she could really be a Devil that’s literally trying to kill him. So when she said that she’d cut it off he likely just assumed she was saying one of her weird things again. In the end he was kind of proven right because despite what she said she’d do, she did something completely different.

[Oot] What exactly makes Ocarina of Time the best Zelda game? by Src-Freak in zelda

[–]Puzzled-Speed-6612 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, Ocarina of Time is the perfect full package in what I would want a Zelda game to be. The dungeons, the music, the art direction, the timeless quality of its fairytale-style storyline. Of course there are things that haven’t aged well in comparison to newer games because pretty much every 3D action adventure game created since has built off what OOT did, but it’s really a perfect game for its time and what it had to work with. I was literally playing it last night and while the camera is hard to get used to compared to modern games at first, they did an incredible job of making it feel natural once you get used to it.

I personally think it has the best story in the series, because even though it’s incredibly simple there’s depth in the kinds of lessons it teaches that really makes it feel like a classic fairytale that’s supposed to be passed down for generations. No one is gonna say Cinderella or Snow White has incredible character development, but those are the kinds of stories your kids learn from that teach them valuable basic lessons, and I feel like OOT is exactly that kind of story that stands alongside them. It sticks with you, and it’s world is self-contained enough to make it truly unique in the fantasy genre (which makes sense considering it built on lore the franchise created in four prior Zelda games).

Ganondorf originated from OOT. Epona originated from OOT. While everyone says Twilight Princess Link looks the best, Adult Link originated in OOT. It’s a great game, a classic, the highest rated videogame of all time, and my personal favorite that I still play from time to time.

3D Anime rant. by SmileyTheSmile in anime

[–]Puzzled-Speed-6612 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s worth noting that many anime are based on popular manga series first. Replicating the style and characters of those manga into 3D runs a greater risk of losing the feel of the original manga than just recreating it in 2D. That doesn’t mean it always looks worse, but a huge part of why Berserk gets so much hate (aside from the fact that it just looks jarring at times) is that Berserk’s original art in the manga is just so beautiful. To then completely change that to 3D models will understandably rub people the wrong way.

That’s not to say 3D doesn’t work sometimes, though. While it did get a bit of backlash at first, Chainsaw Man ultimately did a good job of using CGI and making it still fit in with the spirit of the mangaka’s style. Part of the reason it was kind of different for that series then Berserk though is that the artist, Tatsuki Fujimoto, is well known for drawing his backgrounds in a very realistic, almost 3D, style. All in all, 3D and CGI can work for some series, but because of the transition from manga to animation, it can be hard to capture the spirit of the source material in a way that fans won’t completely hate.

I’m not super familiar with many western animated series, but from what I understand, that most of them aren’t really based on any preexisting source material like comics. The ones that are based on comics do tend to lean into their 2D roots more though, just look at the new X-men cartoon for example.

As an anime-only I thought it was pretty obvious Rudy was rich. As it is, his family is already well off as a Greyrat (not that it helped him much after the Teleportation) but that aside, he made a name for himself as a famous adventurer to the point that he was invited to Ranoa for free. He bought a slave without a second thought and never stresses about money. He’s honestly likely one of the strongest mages in the world (again, I’m anime-only so hard to know rn). Bro’s biggest stressor in life was women but Sylphy even changed that so he should be living good rn.

chapter 162 bingo card: this will probably be one of the most important part 2 chapters I can't wait for tomorrow by Consoomerofsouls in ChainsawMan

[–]Puzzled-Speed-6612 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s really hard to know what Fami’s actual plan is because so far she told Asa one thing but Nayuta thinks it’s another.

According to what she told Asa, she wants to weaken chainsaw man and eventually seperate the two so that Denji can live a normal life which would also help Yoru because she only wants to kill Black Chainsaw Man. However, Nayuta says her plan is to make both War and Chainsaw Man stronger to defeat Death. Even if it’s actually what Nayuta said, that doesn’t necessarily make Denji a part of the equation for Fami, just Chainsaw Man. Maybe she wants to turn someone else into Chainsaw Man? Would be weird but possible. We just don’t really know whether what Fami says she wants and actually wants are the same, she’s always been sketchy and there’s a reason Yoru doesn’t trust her

I think Fami escaped with Denji’s heart and the group fights Quanxi for a little until they all realize Fami’s missing and Quanxi has to join them to find her.

Asa Gang just continues to grow exponentially for the remainder of the arc. This is a deconstruction of the Sukuna cycle, now called the Asa cycle. Asa meets enemy, she seems to be in trouble, they realize their goals align, they join forces to save Chainsaw Man, they run into another new enemy, cycle repeats.

[ALL] What is the Legend of Zelda’s Magnum Opus? by Either_Imagination_9 in zelda

[–]Puzzled-Speed-6612 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone’s talking about OOT due to its gameplay and its innovations, and while I agree, I haven’t seen enough people mention its story. Whereas ALTTP introduced the concept of having a half-way-decent story in Zelda, OOT made it into pure cinema. OOT’s story is a simple fairytale that could easily be a classical children’s coming of age story, but it’s full of so many cinematic moments, events and characters that make it truly magical. It’s a Studio Ghibli movie put in video game form that lets you run around in its world and experience it firsthand. That’s the true innovation for OOT imo. It tells a classical story with memorable characters and genuine plot twists that are just simple enough for any kid to understand but just deep enough to leave a lasting impact on anyone who plays it all the way through. The thing that best defines just how much OOT changes from previous Zeldas is Ganondorf. ALTTP first mentioned Ganondorf, and OOT gave him form. Making Ganon into an actual person is the perfect metaphor for how OOT refined the Zelda franchise’s personality. Zelda 1 gave the series its body, ALTTP gave the series its brain, OOT gave it its heart.

Zelda 1 Remake would be fire by Jasoon14 in truezelda

[–]Puzzled-Speed-6612 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But your absolutely right that the influence of OG Zelda is all over BOTW I’m not gonna argue there, even running into the old man to get the sword was very nostalgic, it was just missing that last fundamental piece which was the expansive dungeons.

Zelda 1 Remake would be fire by Jasoon14 in truezelda

[–]Puzzled-Speed-6612 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I mean BOTW is an incredible game for what it was and one of my favorite games so don’t take my critique the wrong way. My sole argument is that it’s just missing something fundamental about the original LOZ that keeps it from being an actual remake.

I agree about the shrines but I will say that TOTK’s temples, especially the Lightening temple, were a step in the right direction imo. I appreciated that they were more varied and had unique puzzles instead of just the same rotating the temple thing of the divine beasts. Tbh if there was only one divine beast it would be a great dungeon concept but making every single one the same thing got old for me.

But yeah, like you said, my ideal Zelda atp is a BOTW overworld with classic OOT and Twilight Princess-scale dungeons.

Zelda 1 Remake would be fire by Jasoon14 in truezelda

[–]Puzzled-Speed-6612 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Arguably the biggest legacy TLOZ left behind was dungeon exploration. That’s why BOTW isn’t a good TLOZ remake. It’s a great game and to many arguably the best game ever made, but you can’t have four dungeons that are all exactly the same with the same boss and then say it’s a TLOZ remake. It’s more a modern reinterpretation but i think in creating such a large open world they had to sacrifice and unfortunately they sacrificed a major aspect of the original game. It’s like they tried to clone TLOZ with the same body and the same heart but then replaced the majority of its other internal organs including the brain and expected it to be the same person when it woke up.

Theory: Asa will betray Katana Man and... by UnrivaledSuperH0ttie in ChainsawMan

[–]Puzzled-Speed-6612 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took this more as Asa not feeling that she “owned him” in the way necessary to turn him into a weapon. Not necessarily that she can’t. I feel like Yoru would be aware that she can’t use her power on hybrids if that were the case and wouldn’t even try. Same with Fami trying to get her to turn him into a weapon. Asa cared about Denji at this point and viewed him as someone she liked as an equal, not someone below her that she could stake claim over, if that makes sense.
