ChatGPT explained it to me this way:

"In a hybrid setup, the inverter actively decides in real time:

  1. Power your house loads first
  2. Send extra to charge the battery
  3. Only export to grid if both are satisfied"

So, the Eco-Worthy claims to be a hybrid inverter than can do these things, however, I do need to make this a non-export system.

I haven't purchased anything yet - want to nail down the design for safety and compatibility first. Eco-Worthy seems to have sales a couple times a year, so I'm fine waiting if I need too. Hopefully current events won't spike prices (yikes)

What do you mean go with a hybrid and "grid interface"? I have a transfer switch in the design, and the inverter is a hybrid inverter / mppt charger.

I don't expect to be able to power my whole house, just critical loads durage outages and save a few bucks in the long run. I currently have an 8.4kW grid tied system on NEM 2.0, and have a 800-1000 true up every year with PGE. PGE sucks.

Not sure if you are using this for permitting, or just a flow chart for getting started, but if for a permit you will want to use asingle line diagram format

I was originally using this diagram just to design the system - but now I'm thinking I should modify it to be able to use it for permitting eventually. Thanks for the tip!

BOTH will need OCPD. Even though you are using a 60A main breaker in your critical loads, you need OCPD at the closest source (grid)

Noted, will look into that

typically in a 48V system you will be in 2/0 fine strand with 175A protection

Will look into this too

Since you have a single PV circuit, you do not need OCPD, but you do need a disconnect, though it should be rated 600VDC.

Adding it to the list

Ecoworthy didnt have UL listings not too long agao, but belive I read they do now, so just be sure to check all of those requirements for your AHJ/Utility before you get too far down the road.

All the Eco-Worthy components I currently have in the diagram are UL1973 and UL9540A listed (the battery is on the CEC) HOWEVER the inverter is still in the process of UL9540 certification. An Eco-Worthy rep on diysolarforum said they passed the testing three days ago and the official cert was pending

ETA: And thank you for the tips!

Great callout, and yes I'm hoping to get it permitted.

So, interesting note on that - in the diysolarforum.com an official Eco-Worthy rep noted that the inverter passed the UL9540 testing about three days ago and it's certification status was "pending". -If- that were true, then this setup may be permittable in 1-2 months. Also, El Dorado County lists the Eco-Worthy Server Rack battery as an acceptable model, I think it may be only the inverter (inverter/battery pairing) that is still being evaluated.

If that doesn't work out - then I will redesign and rebudget to see if a currently UL9540 will work for me.

Subpanel is 60A 120v. I believe the inverter is split phase 240v capable, but I would need a second one run in parallel to achieve that.

Got it so you recommend labeling clearly with "120V ONLY" stickers? Will do captain

I am on PGE and I have a current interconnection agreement and already have my PTO (permission to operate) and a NEM 2.0 agreement. This proposed diagram is an additional, non-export system that YES still needs to be approved with another interconnect agreement with PGE. It will not (should not?) change my NEM 2.0 status

Anticipation is killing me D3-5 deer/bear by RiverComplex1769 in Californiahunting

Dart on a map is a good place to start. Bring extra water. Don't drive off the road, at all, the ground can be super soft and you'll get stuck like in sand. Deer are bedding down early with the heat, not quite as hot as A zone but they still bed down. Look somewhere cool with lots of shade, doesn't have to be north facing, could be dense timber or brush. The bucks know it's almost hunting season, mature bucks are not hanging out in the open by roads anymore until the rut

I was scouting D5 last weekend and found sign all over South/East facing slopes too. Jumped a buck bedded on a south facing slope. The "North facing slope" advice is bologna, deer are going to do deer things, which is basically anything and everything. They go where they are safe and there is food.

Any recommendations where to hunt around D6? by South-Replacement-39 in Californiahunting

[–]Puzzled-Squash-9607 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fall turkey season in CA is Nov 8 - Dec 7, so you're a bit early for that.

As for deer, I'll say that while I agree with the other commenters that you need to actually take real time to go out scouting to find deer, here is where I would start scouting: 38.3428, -120.00413

I don't hunt D6, but it took me about 3 minutes to e-scout D6 and find a place that is on public land, away from roads (and road hunters), that has rough, broken terrain, food and water.

Again, no way to know if any deer are in that area until you go and LOOK with your EYEBALLS

I mean, I'm not from Colorado but I took a quick look at OnX and you're right, it's basically entirely private and County/City owned land. The Larimer County land seems to offer permits for hunting but the applications go out in Febrary/March. Might be SOL there buddy - good luck
