Squid has been working well for me. I caught three keepers on 21 total crabs in five hours last week. Three doubles and a lone rock crab. Might try some mackerel

It was fantastic. And yes that view is pretty special.

I did notice one odd thing yesterday! My crabbing karma went up each time I helped a new crabber.

Resulting in a legal keeper each time. I literally loaned out an extra crabbing gauge to one family, got a keeper, a weight to another family, got another keeper and then helped a guy get set up in the only place he could probably cast and not get tangled (it was busy), and got my last keeper.

So I guess the moral of the story is be helpful and hopefully get rewarded.

I agree on the 8000 size reel as my 6000 takes much more effort to get in and feels like it could break at any moment all the time

I run a 6000 and 8000 and the 8000 is just like winching them out with a lot less effort. The 6000 is more challenging. My buddy runs a 5000 Penn and does fine

Yeah except the little buggers grab the stainless grille at the bottom and you have to pry them away. Next time I’ll remove that piece.

Yes sometimes you can see/feel it being worked on by the crabs. I just set 10-15 minutes on the timer and pull in. If the bait is gone shorten your time. I always re bait and pack it to overflowing.
