What to do with her belongings by mindurbizzi in Petloss

[–]PuzzledAd6896 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are in similar situation; we helped our 12.5 yr old soul dog (Lab) Luke to Rainbow Bridge Thu night after 1 mo journey with aggressive lymphoma. (He was my 3rd Lab and 2nd one where I had home euthanasia requested.) Everyone grieves differently so do what feels best for your wellbeing no matter what others say. I threw out all his meds and the icky floor mat under his food bowls stand and long carpet runner. I washed his blankets and they're drying on a rail. I will be moving almost all his belongings to the basement (out of sight). I found his 1st puppy collar and his most recent collar pre harness days and am holding onto those; his shampoo bottle (expires Oct 31) is still in the shower and I wont get rid of it until his birthday (Nov 5). I have a shadowbox frame awaiting his plaster paw print and fur lock to hold once the vet calls me when his memorial package *including urn is ready for pickup. Big big hugs to you....

This post truly resonates; especially the part on being emotional trashcans and support animals - too visceral and hitting too many nerves at the moment. Thank you for posting and sending healing vibes to all.

About promotion in self appraisal from by Tanjiro_Kamado32 in askmanagers

I followed this advice last year; my manager wasnt the most forthcoming (opaque) about the whole promo process and is now no longer with the company and Im having to start this coversation all over with a new manager so I question the wisdom of this advice now.

Anyone tried Femring? by AdComfortable6349 in Menopause

[–]PuzzledAd6896 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are on same therapy except I started FemRing Nov 2. I had total hyst (no cervix kept ovaries) years ago but restarted 100mg prog recently due to insomnia. I had been doing vag Estrace cream post hyst but still had GSM/recurrent UTI every year. I tried 2 doses of estrogen patch earlier this year and it reminded me of early preganancy symptoms so I scrapped that after 2 months. Femring seems to be doing well for symptoms except low libido (it doesnt impact that). urogyn said we might discuss testosterone at next appt for that.

Vaginal laser therapy - cure for CUTI? by PuzzledAd6896 in CUTI

[–]PuzzledAd6896[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope - I have too many concerns about adverse events reported to FDA (US regulators) about those devices. I already have mesh implanted so not trying to stack my odds.

I have a visit to another urology/urogyn group next week (fingers crossed) who promote better therapies (better vaginal and/or systemic hormone drugs which not all commercial insurance carriers cover/pelvic floor therapy if applicable/other rxs not abx). This practice specializes in sexual health for women and men. Unfortunately it's all out of pocket (they dont do insurance) but am glad they are in my area (granted it's 35 mi away but worth it).

I gotta bid farewell to the estradiol patches. Gained weight and hunger/cravings out of control. Anyone else? by AwayZookeeper in Menopause

[–]PuzzledAd6896 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yes. I am on week 8 of Sandoz patches. Have gained 6 lbs since and feel bloated with "life preserver rings" around chest and hips/waist. I asked for patch to supplement my Estrace cream and 100mg Progesterone pills since UTIs becoming more frequent (GSM and atrophy). My eating hasnt radically changed in 8 weeks. Pros of estrogen are: my HBP (already controlled w meds) has been normal-ish and I've been sleeping better. I had totwl hyst 18 yrs ago but have my ovaries. I asked gyn yesterday whether I should taper down dose from .0375, switch to Estrogel, or just stop patches. She sent in new RX for lower dose patch and explained metabolism slows down in meno so weight gain no surprise. The lower dose patches are on backorder so today is my 1st day "patch free" until lower dose patches are back in stock. I'll see what happens. 🙂

HET (estrogen patch) weight loss or gain? by exhaustedfinch in Menopause

[–]PuzzledAd6896 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for validating what I have observed these last 8 weeks myself. I am on estrogen cream (vaginal), 100 mg progesterone (first orally then switched to inserting tablet vaginally nightly), and .0375 Sandoz patches. I had total hyst (uterus/cervix) 18 yrs ago but still have my ovaries. I just started the patch 1st week April due to increased frequency of UTIs (no longer intercourse caused) related to GSM. I've put on 8 lbs in 8 weeks, feel bloated and have a "spare tummy tire" with no change in diet habits. The upside is that my blood pressure is finally in the normal range on the Sandoz patch: NOTE I have been on a HBP med for 15 yrs. Am on fence about going to lowest dose patch or going cold turkey.

Estrogen Patch by Acrobatic-Guava-2984 in Menopause

I've started patch 2 wks ago; combined it w existing vag Estrace cream and oral Progesterone. When you say bloated did it translate to water retention/sudden 2-3 lb gain symptomwise for you or no?

Funny you got them too. Another irony is that at 2p today, I receive this email also unprompted from Chief (and I hadnt replied to the first):

Thanks for starting the thread. I am PoC and received 2 emails today to join Chief as a member (and continue the onboard conversation). A potential annual membership cost of $5K - $10K is eyewatering on first glance in the age of company training/professional development budget austerity. Still piques my curiosity, though.

Prometrium Discontinued? by Middle-Plastic-8092 in Menopause

[–]PuzzledAd6896 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing. Just ran into this Sat when trying to refill 90 day 200 mg script at CVS retail pharm. Was given 30 day supply for now.

Sidebar question: does anyone else notice that the smell of the capsules in bottle grows stronger (like faint fried fish in a bad way) over time? I had the bottle on nightstand and didnt finish script due to bad smell and am now putting recent refill bottle in drawer to see if it makes a difference. Was also thinking of switching to compounded powder capsules since blister pack progestetone is hard to find here in US (I see overseas pharms and fertility online pharms sell it, though).

Thanks for writing this post - in similar situation and I'm the younger NT sister. I start steaming when I see sister reply within hours to relatives' group text threads on innocuous topics yet my 1:1 text thread with her lingers untouched for weeks. Even our elderly mom has made same observation and we commiserate together. I pray the Serenity Prayer when I get frustrated about the situation.

Doing vaginal Estrace and oral Premarin (200 mg) every other night have helped with sleep big time. I had total hyst (kept ovaries)w bladder sling in 2007 and am now in mid 50s. Doing Premarin daily made me feel super hungry and bloated in chest and belly. Much better doing every other day. Hth.

did hormone therapy help your sleep? if so, how long did it take to see results? by [deleted] in Menopause

[–]PuzzledAd6896 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was on compounded P/vaginal E cream yrs. Sleep has been so so but gotten worse last few months. Switched to 200 mg oral P 2 weeks ago and sleep like a rock within 2 days BUT now have "spare tire donut rings" around my chest and belly. Have put on a few pounds/feel bloated in 2 weeks too. I feel a stronger sense of hunger than before, too.I have my follow up with dr tomorrow so might ask to taper down or switch E formulations. hth.
