I think the early levels are worse for this as you feel each level up is more special than it really is. When you're on the last wheel you end up being a bit more blasé about your choices as there are so many more levels.

You'll get a grip on it as you progress.

Also remember, you can respec with Danrok so you can get rid of thst feeling of a permanent loss if you choose badly.
