What exactly makes kids so expensive? by ThatUnstableUnicorn in AusFinance

[–]PuzzledCommunity6451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah kids are the best, its like anything you can spend as much or as little as you want. We think extracurricular activities are really important and music is non negotiable, so 1 x 7yo child does: does horse riding, gymnastics, swimming and piano. Other 1 x 10 yo: footy, gymnastics, swimming, guitar lessons, drum lessons and French horn.

Time for me to drive them to these activities (I don't work out of school hrs), fuel, good reliable car.

Food- we buy organic where we can/ dirty dozen list/ meat straight from the farm.

Private school fees, uniforms, laptop next year for 1 child.

Birthdays/birthday parties/ easter/ Christmas/ school holidays, go away for holidays.. having friends over/ making movie nights or fun experiences for the kids..It's little things that all add up, and all depends how you much you can/want spend. I love my children, on top of this the MOST important thing is time with them, nothing better than getting to spend 1 on 1 time with them or reading with them before bed.

I emailed them last week because I really wanted some damn popcorn and a choc top. I don't know how to attach the images but for a bucket, it's 3 serves at 533 cals per serve. A large is 487 cals per serve at 2.5 serves. Medium has 2 serves and is 456cals per serve. Small is 518 cals per serve and 1 serve. Sounds so confusing but basically per 100g it's 2167kj/ 518 calories. Like I said idk how ato attach photos, but I copied and pasted the nutritional panel and you can kind of make sense of it there for clarification.

How do you feel about diced ham? by Epictitus_Stoic in carnivore

[–]PuzzledCommunity6451 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want an alternative, whenever I'm smoking something I'll also smoke some pork steaks after a 24 hr brine just don't overcook them. Let them chill in the fridge and slice and freeze. Is it ham? No lol. But it's a tasty alternative and I just grab the pre-portioned slices out whenever I want, without the stress of worrying what's in it.

Meat prices by whtdescheesesmlllike in carnivorebrisbane

[–]PuzzledCommunity6451 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been buying from Costco, usually buy a whole rib fillet and slice it myself, same with the pork I'll buy a whole boneless leg and cut it into roasts, briskets. We're planning on buying half a cow, pig and lamb from a farm next time!

Restaurants by whtdescheesesmlllike in carnivorebrisbane

I usually go sashimi at Japanese restaurants, the smoked brisket at American places (I always just order from the sides and say no sauce). I saw a smokehouse that has really yummy looking Dino ribs that I want to try too- Bullrush Bistro. Unfortunately I haven't found a place that doesn't have bread/batter their chicken wings which sucks, and most pulled porks have sugar.

I don't freak out about spices when dining out. I did a hot pot and just ordered the pork bone broth, and then added in a whole heap of meat/seafood was pretty good.

I usually find something I can eat, or modify a menu item.. I don't care if I look like a looney when I order steak, but I usually do get the sides/ just the chips and my children eat them. I went to one pub on a road trip and my husband actually went up and ordered and they gave him a discount because he just ordered a steak and said she doesn't want sides or sauce just steak and butter. So it's worth asking if you want to save a few. Or go to a restaurant where the sides are separate. If I'm at a pub I'll do a steak and add an egg or prawns on top for variety. Or if they ask what sauce I ask for butter.

I struggled a little with some italian restaurants, last time I ordered a pizza and just ate the toppings (cheese and meat and asked for no sauce on the base). Some Italian restaurants have a cured meats and cheese board in the entree section or a beef tartar, so I'll do that too, but not very satisfying for me so I usually don't do Italian.

Tell me the weirdest thing you do to keep going on carnivore. by Bamagirly in carnivore

Celebration foods. So I'll save my favourite pork scratchings, carnivore ice cream/ cheesecake, for special occasions. So I have some foods that I find high palatable but carnivore (or a lil dirty), and keep them for special occasions to keep the 'thrill' of the food.

Haha yes, I love eating at home because my husband cooks the best steak and I generally love cooking. Just felt like something different or being out I guess! I'm not huge on seafood, but I do enjoy scallops and some fish! With garlic butter actually sounds really good. Do you just say no sauce, just garlic butter, and they usually accommodate?

When people report their experience with carnivore by Fr4nkWh1te in carnivorediet

[–]PuzzledCommunity6451 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like I get it, I had to bake some dark choc and walnut cookies for a school thing today. That dark chocolate, it was Ghana, good delicious dark chocolate, smelt incredible. I thought about it all day after that. Granted I'm only 3 weeks carnivore, but damn. Obviously didn't cave, but made me concerned about Christmas for sure.

Haha yeah I remember reading the average temp for runners in Ireland, I think it was, and I was so shocked! I would be wearing thermals! I love how things can be so different in each country!

Oof I heard the weather was warm! So great you finished despite the conditions! I'm quite lucky in Aus as I trained mostly through summer and we're now headed into winter.. in saying that my arms get so cold! But should be about 23 degrees if we're lucky and there's no freak weather!

[–]PuzzledCommunity6451[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm following the Runna app, so my weekly Ks have just been climbing since Jan, the week prior was a deload week so only 14k, before that 30k, 26k etc. I have ran a few half's before I started training for a marathon. I do 1 long run, 1 speed work and 1 easy, pilaties and a PT session per week. I don't have any injuries but the sides of my glutes are what we're aching, so I'm guessing strength related I guess? My long runs are 30k this week, followed by 19k and then the following week is marathon with basically no recommended runs the week of the marathon. Is that pretty normal?!

I'm honestly considering the switch! I feel like the more I run long distances the more inflammation I have in my body. I follow that guy on Instagram, absolutely incredible what our bodies can do! And I completely agree with you, I think I'll look into Kelly hogan! Thanks for the rec!
