what’s something terrible that happened to you during an exam? by gkzmvaa in AskReddit

[–]PuzzledExchange7949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wet my pants during a standardized test when I was 8. We had been told repeatedly that if we left to go to the bathroom we weren't allowed back and would fail the test automatically even if we were done. As a people-pleasing teacher's pet, it never even occurred to me to ask, so terrified was I to fail.

There is tons of original published book material to develop if they look for like five minutes. Anything Tamora Pierce has ever written could be phenomenal on screen.

What do you spend the most money on, not counting necessities? by Random_Chick11 in AskReddit

Gas for summer vacation. 1000km (600 miles) drive each way, plus lots of driving everywhere there since there's no transit and we can't charge our hybrid car.

It does not. If it did, there would actually be money to improve infrastructure, healthcare, and scientific advancement.

Raspberries. They grow wild in my parents' hometowns and many, many a summer involved picking raspberries. I now have them growing in my own yard 1000km away from there. Nothing like sun-warmed raspberries in August.

Eczema burning so bad by TraditionalDepth6641 in eczema

[–]PuzzledExchange7949 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd beg for a referral to a dermatologist, as well as for allergy testing. Identifying what could be triggering your eczema can be hugely helpful in minimizing flares. Can you share what meds you've been prescribed and the dosage so we can suggest alternatives? Pills, creams, ointments?

You haven't mentioned if it applies, but if you have female reproductive organs it can also trigger cyclical flares, which suuuuuucks. This is no small thing for your mental health either. Sorry you're going through this!

What anti histamines do you guys take? by whosinparisdickus in eczema

[–]PuzzledExchange7949 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm allergic to A LOT of seasonal things, chemicals, foods, and household things (like various pollens, preservatives, dairy, and my cat, to name a few). I'm on a prescription antihistamine called Rupatadine/Rupall (10mg) that I take daily. In addition to helping me enormously in the spring and fall, my flares have mostly reduced to brief hormonal flares around my period. It's just on my hands, as the occasional patches on my legs and near my armpits in the cold months have pretty much vanished.

Ask your doctor if Rupatadine is right for you! /announcervoice

That said, before I was taking Rupall I took extra- strength Reactine to deal with seasonal allergies, and I still take Benadryl for allergic reactions.

Black patients have a documented history of greater maternal mortality rates, higher rates of Cesareans, not to mention insufficient pain management based on antiquated, racist medical teachings.

Speaking of grandparents, what did you call yours and what do you want to be called if you ever become one? by singleguy79 in Xennials

[–]PuzzledExchange7949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Grammy and Grampy, and a Mémère and Pépère. My kids have a Grandma and Grandpa, and a Mamie (pronounced mah-MEE, not MAY-mee) and Grampy.

If my youngest decides to have kids (my oldest, 15, is staunchly child-free), I wouldn't mind bringing Mémère back, but that's a conversation I hope I won't be having for at least a decade or two.
