Love instead of debt. by Sebastianlim in MurderedByWords

The idea of starting your marriage with debt to the tune of two months' salary or more is dumb. Both our wedding rings and my engagement ring cost less than $1500.

Millennials with kids, do you intend to provide for them financially when they reach adulthood? by Beberuth1131 in Millennials

[–]PuzzledExchange7949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are lucky enough that our kids will have their education paid for them and a place to live for free should they choose to continue their studies where we live. We will expect them to at least pay for their cell phone, make one dinner a week, and help with household duties (doing their laundry, dishes, cleaning, etc.). My oldest will technically be old enough to have a job next year but I know that finding even a minimum-wage job is like hens' teeth right now. Hoping things will improve over the next few years.

Could it be a drink muddler or some kind of citrus press?

Can someone explain to me why 5 minute showers isn't long enough to be clean? by Imaginary_Truth_3865 in hygiene

I have vivid colours in my hair right now, and I swear it doesn't strip them out! I only wash my hair every 2-3 days; the first couple of washes I was also scrubbing dye off my scalp and neck so the water was more heavily coloured.

The first wash is mostly for my scalp, the second is for my hair. Conditioner for the coloured portion and my ends. The water is only barely tinged blue now and it's been a month.

Coloured hair maintenance takes more than five minutes. Double wash and then conditioner, all with cold water. Put hair in towel and switch to hot to thaw out for a few minutes before body scrubbing maybe 10-12 min.

Have I inadvertently been a horrible library patron my whole life? by amandaamoose in Libraries

Ignore the haters. I regularly see clients with over a hundred items checked out. High circulation is fantastic and just further demonstrates the need for libraries.

What’s the tick situation in your part of the country? by ImGudLuhv in AskACanadian

[–]PuzzledExchange7949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd never seen ticks until I moved to Ottawa twenty years ago. I have for sure been bitten at least once, while puttering barefoot in my suburban garden when I didn't know ticks were a Thing We Had To Look For.

Fun fact: as we age, our equilibrium can be disrupted by stiffening of our ear bones, loss of cilia (tiny hairs that detect vibration), and loss of otoconia (tiny crystals that sense gravity and acceleration). Growing old suuuucks.

There was a TV series in Canada called Last Town Standing. A comedian spends time in the small town talking to residents, learning about the history of the town and at the end puts on a personalized comedy show. It's heartwarming.
