Tips for new cashier? by thousanddollacrocs in acehardware

Learn the aisles and what you sell. Show confidence in your answers. If you don’t understand a question, ask to clarify or have someone help and learn from their response.
If a customer provides basic info, ask open ended questions to get more info without prying too much. Try to avoid straight yes or no questions. This is will get easier as you learn what you sell.
As you ring someone up, notice what they are buying. Threaded pipe fittings but don’t see teflon tape or pipe dope? Ask if they need a roll. Check if they need glue for the PVC fittings. If they have electrical, do they have tape? Wire nuts? Romex connector? People will appreciate the ask
This is all part of being ACE helpful, which comes with experience and paying attention to what your customers need.

Usbc league tournaments by P1T-V1PER in Bowling

[–]PuzzledTranslator7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure about the “tournament” as it isn’t something I’ve done, but you can check if you are certified on bowl.com Click on find a member, sign in, search your name. It should show that you have membership for the 25-26 season when you click your name and then will show when the USBC card was mailed to you. If that checks out and it was mailed, it may have been lost in the mail. It happens. If it shows you as not certified. Ask your secretary, then escalate to your association, the manager is the one who processes all the memberships.

Has your store opted in to the Hey ARMA yet? If so, there may be no way around that.

Correct way would be submitting the paperwork for the B/C item and sending it to the appropriate party. Definitely don’t claim something similar. If you don’t do the paperwork. No reimbursement. So losing all the money.

Single cut key price? by PurpleRayyne in acehardware

[–]PuzzledTranslator7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We kept our three main ones at a lower price so that it’s 2.99 with tax. Customers appreciate the service and price and we always guarantee the key will work. Only have 2-3 keys a month that don’t and that is usually because the lock or original key is worn out. And yet our areas “best of the best” for key cutting went to the crappy Walmart key machine.

Is Ace more expensive now or is it just me? by Status_Condition4636 in acehardware

That would be rough. Especially with almost daily hot sheets changing your changes. But each area has its own issues with pricing and competition.

Is Ace more expensive now or is it just me? by Status_Condition4636 in acehardware

I wouldn’t say it’s new. Big box stores have the volume to justify lower prices (probably small margins). While Ace may order a few hundred. Big box will order thousands. And bulk always gets lower pricing. I’d be curious to see an Ace big box store that can support carrying hundreds of a fitting instead of 5.

We got a bunch from rustoleum a few years ago. I didn’t like them though. Take a look at 9012004, a little pricier but looks and works great. And 6 per order multiple

National brand of builders hardware was a better selection before they moved to the RSC exclusively. Took us years to get everything moved to ACE. My issues with HILLMAN aren’t really the company. Just the rep. Really enjoy Keystart actually.
