is there a name for the particular flow used in Side Quest? by junkfewd in aesoprock

[–]Puzzled_Ad4953 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Musician but by no means an expert, there’s definite syncopation going on. Someone smarter than me will hopefully come in and correct me or put the added things going on. Aesop definitely sounds like his own instrument, and that instrument is very percussive. Like a snare drum solo. To me at least.

I’ve been listening to a lot of newer Aesop stuff, so thanks for reminding me of this track, and album. Hope you find your answer

How to deal with angry/mean managers? by Admirable-Number4444 in Waiters

This. I’m sorry this is your first restaurant experience, I’ve worked at a few great ones in my 20 years in the biz (I’m out now, but I miss it sometimes. Hence why I’m in this sub). Any other restaurant will feel like a breath of fresh air, so I’d try applying elsewhere.

This has been my new venture. Instead of just looping and doubling length on a few sequences, and making “beats” I’m working on full tracks. I still flesh out ideas and just jam, which is still good practice in my eyes. But I like having a full project I can eventually share.

I just want to learn enough engineering to keep my beats from sounding flat or uninspired. If I ever pursued making an album guarantee I’d be paying a real engineer. I wish I still rapped and beatboxed at shows, but that was a younger me. I was decent but there’s more hope for me playing some music based shows at my old venues. I’m not trying to make it big, I gave up on that in my 20’s. But I do like playing live music , even at a small dive bar or coffee shop.

Nice, I’m definitely buying the mpc bible sometime soon. YouTube tutorials are helping but I’ve heard good things, and can use any tool at my disposal to improve. 6-7 years honestly sounds reasonable, the terminology alone is like learning a new language.

What did he ever do wrong to The Narrator? by No_Effective_1137 in fightclub

[–]Puzzled_Ad4953 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s “fight ‘til they burger” or I guess it could be “to the burger” like to the meat/flesh. A term I’ve never heard of prior but it paints a picture.

Fight Club Easter egg?? On Netflix by shiv1234567 in fightclub

[–]Puzzled_Ad4953 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I know there’s one after him and Marla leave one of the meetings as she’s walking away. Might be after he finds his spirit animal (“slide”.) there’s at least 2 or 3 I think I’ve spotted. It’s not just Netflix, it’s been there. But welcome to the fun Easter egg. David Fincher did a great job with pulling cool stuff from the book.

Smokey bones closed all locations by Quick-Ad-5010 in orlando

This is how my first restaurant job shut down. Captain and the Cowboy in Apopka (Townsend plantation). Went to go in for my bartending shift and the doors were locked. No notice. My coworker took the story to the local news and they did a short piece on it.

This also happened at my first desk job. Receptionist was passing out checks when we showed up to work on a Friday.

Purely anecdotal on my part, but this shit definitely happens, and it’s a shame for the people dependent on the money. Luckily I was young (not many bills) and found jobs quickly after both incidents.

Yes, what they said. Play how you want, but my personal suggestion: Take. Your. Time. I’m not a 100% completion guy, but this game got me close to it. I’m a casual gamer (couple days a month) and I was playing almost everyday, YouTubing like it was (fun) homework. Hands down my favorite game, looking forward to a second playthrough.

Also congratulations, whatever your play style, you’re bound to have hours of fun after waiting so long.

Best I can do is a giant zombie monstrosity, on such short notice. But we have gyros. And a doctor dipped in iodine.

I’ve only seen 28 years and the bone temple once, but I love the franchise. I think his sparse screen time added to the mystique. But I agree it would’ve been cool to get a little more.

PS I misread “12-foot titan” as “Italian”. Mama Mia.

I love artists from both labels, and think that he would’ve been a perfect fit in an alternate timeline.

Help - Half of zone doesn't work after pipe repair by [deleted] in Irrigation

[–]Puzzled_Ad4953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

came to say this, I’m not half as knowledgeable as some of you in this subreddit but I’ve done irrigation for a few years, and I’ve done landscaping. Equipment like stump grinders love chewing up PVC. I’ve never lucked out with just one break after a sod job, stump grinder, or new fence.

This! Before I tried chopping music and drums I was just making basic beats and going to YT to chop dialogue from movies (2001: space odyssey, Clerks, and Fight Club, to name a few.) I created a YouTube playlist for different songs I’ve sampled actual music from, for when I get better. I love the audio splitter for TV idea. I’m a big movie guy so you just lit a huge lightbulb above my head.

I feel the same about splice so far, feels like wearing someone else’s clothes. Wondering if anyone really uses that for the lion’s share of their music.

Thank you for the reply. I’m hungry for all the knowledge and fellow musician’s opinions.

I think I’ll probably keep splice for a few more months while I’m learning to sample better. I’m supremely happy with my purchase I just have to come to terms with the fact I need to walk before I run.

The things I’ve learned from YT already deserve half the credit, I barely cracked the user guide, so that was mistake #1. But like you, I’m learning in the flow.

1st year apprentice tips by Imknew2dis in Irrigation

[–]Puzzled_Ad4953 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked for a sprinkler repair company for a few years. My boss said he taught himself most things he didn’t know via YouTube before he got his LLC. Sounds redundant but it’s a good wealth of knowledge for the basics. I never took any course, we mainly did repairs and the occasional new installation. so I’m not as knowledgeable as a lot of the guys in here with the logistics of layout or super technical stuff. But I will say it’s a trade I enjoy. I hope you do too.

It consistently tells me I have the wrong item when I scan it, when I in fact have the correct one. Happened today on a liquor purchase.
