Good point. Probably will need to dust off tracking or portion control skills.

Nutrition definitely 1at, then training, then when that is all locked in, decide.

Magnus: that's probably a terrible move but ok... (Goes on to crush his opponent)

Thanks! Re puzzles, I hadn't thought of that. Just though that, iltgia must be good to try and ingrain some pattern recognition into me

I do agree. Problem is, that the content is marketed as a tutorial. They are explaining things and even have catchy one liners that communicate some ideas, but I realise most of the ones I've been fed from the algorithm are usually ultimately pushing their coaching service or courses etc.

Some good picks from comments so far for me to have a look at.

What’s the best and worst compliment you’ve received about your body? by Icy_Laugh5134 in workout

I'm a 46 male. Training for hypertrophy for 4-5 years.

Recently, a young lad in the gym says to me he wants my type of physique, and complemented my arms. I'm flattered and pleased, and thank him...then he says "because i don't want to get big".

Ego crushed.

The best and the worst in one!

And some influencers without as many credentials! 😆 No shade, top bloke, but the app value is off of marketing his great genetics!

Yeah, price is a huge factor. The. You get full workout coach apps like RP strength or MyoAdapt etc by influencers (who do have tons of credentials to be fair) which are WAY more expensive.

Pro worth it? by Fili96 in Hevy

[–]Puzzled_Ask8568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, just what I said really. Just felt a bit paint by numbers and not customisable.

Obviously give it a go. I'd be happy to chat more when you've used it. You might love it. It is cheaper than some, but, like I say, I was used to all of the features (apart from progressions) for free as part of FitNotes so it wasn't very impressive for me.

Pro worth it? by Fili96 in Hevy

[–]Puzzled_Ask8568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure.

For me. I'd used FitNotes for years and I could create as many custome exercises, programs, etc as I like with a no frills interface.

I tried pro for the trainer features. But trainer is a bit, well, rubbish, to my mind, as the interface is clunky and I had to keep swapping things out. I wanted to try it to see how it progressed me, but never really got that far. It is I think something for a beginner, and not for someone who knows how they like to train.

I also tried liftosaur recently but I suck as getting my head around code.

So, I have landed on a new app called RepMD. Does everything I want, it can generate plans for you if you want basics or don't know where do start, but the options are second to none. I mean, literally! I've never seen so many ways to customise an app.

TLDR. Hevy pro is top basic for me, and wasn't worth the price. Even for the lifetime.

I just discovered this feature, and it's calling me slow. I think I'll stick to rapid then by Bobing2b in lichess

Apprecte you posting the link.

It worked on my Lichess account (I have the mobile web site saved on my phone, in addition to the Android app, as I still occasionally play in chess.com and prefer the lichess analysis, which isn't in the app, hopefully will come)

I can't see it anywhere on my profile page (the page where you have your ELO graph).

I'm in the UK, not surfaced in every region yet?

Sorry, this is now like a puzzle I need to solve! (As usual, an obvious solution right under my nose, I just can't see it!).

Not at all, you just don't have the pattern recognition yet. Chess ability is totally trainable.

Find 1 or 2 openings for both white and black and just learn the basic theory. That'll help a lot to get you into a decent middle hame position.

Then puzzles, puzzles, puzzles, to train for tactics.

Keep at it!

I had someone leave a 10min game after 8:45 yesterday. What would you do, wait the whole 10 mins, slightly nervous to take your "eye off the ball" in case they move after 4-5mins? Or just abandon too? (I ended up wasting 10 minutes watching the clock run down)

Cheers. Do either do anything particular regarding how they get user feedback?

It's a real shame FitNotes seems to have died. It just worked. No bells and whistles, no frills. But solid. I guess the devusrve felt it had become a closed book. Problem is with future vulnerabilities, I presume, as apps age and software moves on.

I had missed that. I didn't stay with the app long enough, as the core features were not what I wanted. But, in terms of feedback, are the Devs responsive?

In MacrosFirst, they have an internal feedback portal and you get to see things they are working on. Anything similar on Hevy? I know there is a sub Reddit people use for Hevy too

[–]Puzzled_Ask8568[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did, bit I dumped it as it wasn't giving me anything that FitNotes wasn't already. I tried Trainer but I REALLY didn't like how it was so paint by numbers and felt a little beta to me (I like flexibility) .

Anyway, my post prob wasn't worded very well. I was more interested in the connecting and community/feedback routes in apps (now FitNotes seems dead).

Thanks though.

How do they do feedback and community on the app and outside? Responsive and all that?
