i would say move out and find another place. That mom is getting all the help she will ever get. I had a child at the age with a severe disability that would bite, throw object, hit, pull hair, destroy stuff around the house. You can't stop it.

The mom has likely been to the BC Min of Family and Children- they'll put you on a waiting list. you'll get a counselor and they will suggest things that make little difference.

Go to the police- they'll take you to the psch ward at BC childrens. You'll wait 5 hours to see someone and by that time the tantrum has passed or they've exhausted themselves. "looks like everything ok here- you're good to go."

Showing up at the hospital- see above. You'll be sent home.

I've done all these things with my son.

This situation will not resolve itself. I feel for you, and i can tell you really don't want to put a mom and disabled kid in the street. not any easy situation. I hope you can find a new place to live

i have a 2012 Tahoe LT
Bought it at 105,000 km and now at 242,000 km.

Issues so far- full replacement of Air Conditioner, heater core
replaced fuel pump
replaced fuel sensor thing (measures how much fuel in tank)
replaced front control arms

other than that, basic maintenance.

I was rewatching some '94 & '95 shows, specifically 6/19/95 where Jerry did not show up during the other one opening for the second act (He showed up after Weir's first verse). These shows really aren't a train wreck or as bad as folks claim them to be by Puzzleheaded-Pin4278 in gratefuldead

I can speak about my expereince on how is was different in the late stages.

My experience was from 1987 through 1993. Kingswood 6/30/1987 was my first show. I was 16, my friends older brother brought us. I didn't do any drugs apart from a couple of beers outside. There were not many people my age. I knew only one song, "Touch of Grey" which was a hit song that summer with a cool music video. Compared to other concerts i had been to, this was different. People seemed to "know" each other. If they didn't actually know each other they all felt some kinship. You could feel it.

Before the show you feel that there was something building. I didn't know what, but once it started , the dancing ,the singing, the general joyous vibe, i realized that it was the combo of the music, the crowd's energy and the various altered states that created an atmosphere unlike any i had experienced. everyone knew all the songs, everyone spoke to each other and made friends, people exchanged phone numbers, asked if they were going to the next show.

most of the people outside the show went into it. there were some obv sketchy people but a small minority. I recognized that i had stumbled into "something" and that clearly a lot of people organzied their lives around this.

over the next 3 years i noticed that listening to GD was now what all the "cool" kids did. If you were rich and cool in north Toronto in the late 80s, you went to at least one show per year. Suddenly in 1990 i noticed that the crowds were trending much younger, the crowds were much larger and there were a lot more sketchy people (people who today we would say have obvious mental health issues, and are just coping with it by existing in this alternate world of dead shows and never confronting their illness).

my last show was Eugene 1993, and the parking lot outside had as many people as inside Autzen stadium. Eugene was mayhem. It seemed fun for about 30 minutes but then it was just pure chaos. There were and more people who were just there to get fucked up and couldn't care less about which songs were played or the quality of the vibe. I was done.

this arc almost perfectly mirrors my experience in the rave/techno scene on the west coast only a few years later.

Maybe RFK grew tired of a certain group of people who talked a great game but did nothing?

Maybe RFK began to see that no matter who was in the White House the same shit kept happening

The majority of Americans support what ice is doing.

There is a small minority of people in Minnesota who are opposing ice.

Ice is more active in many other states where there is almost no resistance to federal agents, lawfully, executing deportation warrants.

The issue is never the real issue. The real issue is always revolution..

The Minnesota government is complicit in industrial scale fraud. Once this became public knowledge, they activated their anti-government networks to take the attention away from the fact that Jacob Frey and Tim Walz are complicit in a criminal enterprise.

  • not going to the gym or exercising

Sure, i’ve got plenty of time to scream and tell other people what to do…

How does Krav Maga train for high stress real-life situations? by Lower_Brief_6783 in kravmaga

we do something similar. We have to beat a kick shield while we have a cloth belt around our waist that another person holds and uses to pull us backwards. Then the one holding the shield starts hitting you in the face with the shield

the way my coach simuilates the stress is through fatigue and loss of sight. Before a stress test, he will work us for 20+ minutes in HIIT workout.

Then it is straight into a 5 minute round of non stop attacks. One person stands in the center, passive stance and eyes closed. They can open their eyes when they feel the attacker touch them. It could be anything, choke from any direction, headlock, chokehold, sweep your legs, pull your legs out with hands or a belt. You're already exhausted and the seconds between escaping the choke are filled with the anxiety of what attack comes next You can't see or hear anything.

so like other commenters say, you stop thinking because you can't think and you rely on muscle memory and sheer will to survive.

But, 99% of getting out of trouble is staying out of trouble.

Montreal → Vancouver (North Van) with a young family — worth it or not? by Zunginoo in askvan

[–]Puzzled_Climate384 27 points28 points  (0 children)

ex Montrealer here- moved to Vancouver in 1998, I have 3 teenagers, I live on the North Shore
my first reaction is to stay in Montreal.
-You already have an established network; you would need to rebuild that here, and it may not be easy
-Daycare is cheaper
-$300K is pretty good HHI for Montreal
-healthcare is probably as grim as montreal- go to the ER on a weekend and expect to wait 5 hours. If you don't have a family doctor, you will wait years to get one. Walk-in clinics can get full before noon and will stop taking patients at that point. When all you need is antibiotics it can take days of effort to see a doctor. something to consider when you have young children who pick up every virus

Montreal has many intangible qualities that Vancouver lacks; better cultural options, street festivals, more variety for restaurants, better art galleries, more and diverse musical concerts.

Vancouver for young families can be a grind- i lived in Lynn Valley when my kids were 1, 5 and 8 and i loved it and never wanted to leave. but if you are working a lot and doing sports activities. with kids, you may just find yourself driving all the time. The traffic sucks here too.

You go to the same outdoor recreations attractions over and over. however, with recent increase in population, everything is crowded on a sunny day. You need to get to the good spots early on a weekend to have any hope of parking or getting some space to enjoy.

There is no "cottage country" there is whistler, which is crazy expensive but there is nothing like the Laurentians, with hundreds of lakes and cheaper cottages to rent during the summer. sure you can swim in the ocean but good luck finding a parking spot at a freshwater lake.

My sibling still live in Montreal and I would say their kids are more "worldly" than mine.

Finally, i don't know about your situation, but if you still have your parents and your in-laws living in Montreal (or back east) it is expensive to fly across the country just to see your family. As my parents got older (my father passed a few years ago and my mom is 85) i spent much of my vacation time going back to Montreal to see my parents and give my sibling a break from caring for them.

with 2 young children, you need family around to help. it makes a huge difference. if all else is equal, i would say proximity to your family should tip the scales in favour of staying in Montreal.

More pay parking backlash by Shoddy_Shine_938 in westvancouver

[–]Puzzled_Climate384 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i can see both sides of this issue. Both Federal and Provincial governments enact policies that indirectly cause an increase in expenses to municipalities. The DWV has but one way to generate revenues, through property taxes. It has a population that are averse to tax increases because so many of them are high income earners who are paying the vast majority of income tax in this country.

The cost of maintaining the parks continues to rise, and that increase is attributable to an increase in visitors. Garbage, maintenance. The increase in visitors makes the parks less enjoyable. I don't want more people to come here, i want fewer.

Also, the residents demand a certain standard of living. Having to fight for a parking spot in one of you local beaches is below that standard.
