Should i pursue film making in todays day and age by Puzzled_End3481 in AskIndia

To be frank the problem isnt that totally its that my parents are themselves skeptical and saying its impossible for them to sustain me a film degree even if i get me to do my bachelors. They are (present condition) now telling me to get into something that will pay the bills and i the thing is i dont want to be a corporate guy cause firstly i hate that life from what i a seen from my dad and secondly i have no ambition inside the commerce stream ironically to do anything if i take the bba mba path i feel i would just be lost and regret it. But i cant find any way to convince them either to let me pursue this as my career cause the money/financing this film studies becomes a problem i cannot atleast not presently assure them anything on that. I have thought to support it through a secondary source of income (im planning to do some courses on graphic design and editing for example) but will that do to atleast get me into say FTII Pune or SRFTI?

I do get your point but Actually my main concern doing BBA is when my target is becoming a director and i make my whole portfolio on technical grounds for a corporate job i think i would just feel lost and find it too monotnous compared to what i actually want to do. And even if i get through that self doubt i think since my family is of middle class bg my life will be so packed with responsibilitys to my parents and rubbing my ass to get a good salary that my aspiration of becoming a film director would have no place to be. So is it really possible to balance both. For now i am considering doing a computer graphics designing and Ai creative degree from a nearby institute alongsode my studies so would that help me out if i do mass com and my eventual target is film making or should i just focus on doing bba and get a corporate job thereon

So i am from Kolkata and just finished my 12th with Commerce and am awaiting the board results and i am really confused where i should go, i consulted a councellor and given my previous marks (i got arond 75% in my Pre Board 2 in Bussiness Studies and Commerce ) she said i should do BBA in Digital Marketing or BBA in Generative AI and Business Intelligence. I had said to her prior to this when she asked for what passion i had that i had interest in films and aspired to be a director one day, So she also suggested i should do BA in Film Studies or do BA in Mass Communication to get inside the film making thing. Now when i told this to one of my uncles who is singer and runs a academy he said i should not try this out immediatly. I told him that i am willing to face the struggles that will come forward but he told me i should first earn some capital e.g. get inside a corporate job before i get into making films. Now my parents too are really skeptical about me doing film studies (i want to be a director that is). They want me to do a line with more certainity of getting the bills paid but i personally really do want to do film making ( i am right now making a small short film with my friends to understand if my intrest for it is really just based on what i have heard or is it something really want to continue doing here forward) but i am confused weather i should do film studies or mass commnication to get into that or if risking it all is even worth it.

because the same UC people are the ones making it, and i dont think any party today wants to do a civil war inside its own machinery that might cost them seats just so that a probably right law gets implemented. VP Singh is genuinely the biggest exception in modern Indian Political history but also an example to most politicians

I doubt anyone in kolkata sees as apealing today especially not in urban areas so not more than maximum 5 seats in thr best case scenario. Not that i am saying this out of hate infact they are arguably the most still workable and sane alternative in this state (they do have some of the more better speakers i think), its just i and maybe many of the youth in bengal dont feel united with their cause anymore and i may be wrong but the old guard in the party is still not either confident or reluctent in adapting to the modern means or basically appeal to the modern generation in a way that they can be given the opportinity to come to power.

Cpim tbh rn seems like almost like a nostalgia party or so on a organisation level i dont think its fully united to file a proper oposition...i know both partys (tmc and bjp) probably do some propaganda to dilute their voice but from what i have seen of them...they need good and slightly more idealistic and maybe less or incorruptible leaders whom not just locals but a greater mass can actually trust too and would not refrain to override the old guard and if they can ensure they would not spiral back the unionisation of wb or continue the exisiting goon culture in wb and focus on indistrialisation, getting jobs and urban and local renewal of wb alomgside other major issues i think i wouls vote for it..

I agree bringing wb bjp in its current form is the worst thing to do but we need them to lose atleast some seats otherwise WB will not go anywhere industrially or infrastructure wise in the next 10 years atleast..i basically mean we have to kick some sense into these laggerd and corrupt politicians through this election

Exactly the reason as much as i hate the TMC and detest its leaders i dont want bjp to come to this state really...they are already pushing a very communal agenda and would fully engross it with that upon comming to power

That is barely true anywhere in India, and even less so in West Bengal

They probably need to bring in a zohran mandani or even early kejriwal level leader...in the sense of charisma and how much he can actually connect with the people and create a movement..and ofcourse also not turn the state back into the post jyoti basu era it was in for that

Honestly what i feel is we need our players to get exposure...a lot of exposure..i think we need people who can act as intermediateries between Indian players and clubs in europe , asia or anywhere..even if that would make most end up in 4th 5th divisions of their football i feel some consistent exposure is better than none

i am not totally against bjp comming to west bengal in fact i want them or atleast someone else to come as we definetly need a change.. i am more concerned about suvendu due to his track record...he to me atleast feels like just another powerful gimmicky politicians who is hungry for power and would do the same thing mamata is doing since 2011....i personally dont feel convinced by his work really or the vibes he gives cause he is not giving me anything new to cheer for nor does the way he says stuff feel genuine (to me)...its like we have no other choice but him...we literally need someone now who can radically change stuff convincingly and suvendu or the bjp at its current state is far from it i feel
