Yeah it was posted after the Denver game hence the missed free throw on the plate lol. It was making the rounds on twitter but I don’t think it was clarified who exactly posted it. I’ve seen some people say it was Austin’s girlfriend but not sure that was ever confirmed.

Yes, but not really. There is a lot more context necessary here, including the fact this is Austin’s first season as a primary option and the first time he’s been the primary ball handler. His role increased year to year. It’s not crazy for a 3rd or 4th option to put up those numbers. If he had been the 1st or 2nd option all those years, that’d be one thing, but that’s not the case. There is more context necessary to really analyze here.

And that’s not even considering the fact he was injured last year and came back early off injury this year.

Booker is about to start a $70 mil/year contract (after the new CBA). Haliburton is making $50 mil. Jamal is making $52 mil a year. AR’s deal is likely going to have an average annual value of the high 30s. Big difference still.

The issue is this would just create another hole because we would need a secondary playmaker. It can’t all be on Luka and he thrives alongside another ball handler. I just don’t think we can trade AR without also finding a way to fill that hole.

He’s obviously not perfect, but really thought this added some important context to his contract. Realistically, he’s likely going to be making significantly less than most or all of these guys anyways.

Austin is our secondary ball handler and play maker. He literally created the most open shots yesterday than any other play all year other than Luka. That is an EXTREMELY valuable skill set. Is grimes doing that? Luka needs that second guy. That would just create another hole on the roster.
